Q: Why is the 0 next to 9, not next to 1?

On the old rotary phones, the 0 would take the longest to dial, because it did a line interrupt 10 times instead of 0 (which would be impossible to detect)

This picture is damn awesome.

The weather is so toxic on Venus -- that this probe literally had minutes to take this shot before it was destroyed

Also, if you look at the image on the right -- that metallic part on the ground is the lens cap, that pops off after the probe has landed, to prevent the lens from being destroyed by the atmosphere

And the image on the left -- you see a leg sticking out -- This leg was suppose to run a soil sample on the ground but it ended up resting on the lens cap -- and transmitted data back about the lens cap and not the soil.

1/3 of GTA V downloaded over night. If I do some downloading during the day I could probably play tomorrow... otherwise should be ready for the weekend :D

Here is the best comment on the matter:

Stop embedding malware into ads, make them have no sound, make them smaller and out of the way and just overall be smarter about it. After all of this is done, I'll think about turning off my ad blocker. Until then, f**k your loud ass, obtrusive ads. Enjoy the block.

That's reasonable

I think using adblock is fine. I don't visit overly obnoxious sites that spam you with ads and those sites that I do use where ads are a bit in the way (youtube / twitch) I watch them in the case of youtube (until I can hit skip) and I have a turbo account in the case of twitch such that the services I like and are fine with their ad model can actually get revenue from it

Subsequently I don't use ad block

I should probably use it and just whitelist places

The malware comment is fairly legit

I use it just to add that layer of protection -- when I don't have it on, I get random windows open up all the time

its friggen annoying

Unfortunately, to my knowledge, there is no option of "Run on these sites" in stead of "Don't run on these sites"

The sites that have a "We noticed you are using adblocker, disable to see page"

I'd like to know how a person would be if they never watched TV, or listened to radio, or saw an ad that alters their perception

I'm feeling as if we are just a society that was conditioned into what we are today, and it is disturbing

Ads are still everywhere - internet, mobile games / apps, billboards, magazines

There are laws around radio and tv ads which I'm guessing helps

Yeah, I disable adblock on sites I like. But one then had a horrible popunder. I wrote to them, they said, "yeah, people hated that. we're getting rid of it."

I just drag the folder onto "my music" and it links the tracks

this is in the Windows version of iTunes

Two different file menus... fucken classic

I mean, this is much easier.

it's this trend you get from Chrome and other browsers with removing the file menu

but really, to add a folder to your itunes, just drag it in :)

and now i am adding my collection, and itunes is playing every song that is being added for a second

and I can't stop it unless I cancel the process

seems to be doing it as every album has a playlist, and it cues the song when the playlist is loaded into itunes

People hate iTunes so much, and understandably given the behavior they report, but I never have these issues on either version

i only use it because its the only music player for windows I can stand.

I swear, music players suck so bad it is unreal.

back in the 90s we had winamp -- it just worked.

Q: How to avoid auto starting playback when importing playlist in iTunes library

Whenever i import a large folder into iTunes i have the problem that if in one of the subfolders there is a playlist, it will auto start playing. How can i prevent this?

I have to hover with a mp3 to the left pane, and it pops up -- then dissapears again

So if you go to Playlists, you can see your playlists -- Then there is a Music option inside of playlists...

So I guess that is acceptable -- not sure why Music is so stripped out

apparently there was a 15% drop in use after 12 was released.

People did not like the redesign.

since this is a tough problem to solve, the solutions aren't guaranteed to be known

but you can assume that the best score on the scoreboard is the best possible within a little while of the puzzles' release at midnight.

I pretty much only do simple and normal.

@EwokNightmares you can never legally copy (recent) IP. If the IP is based off of generic themes then you can of course make something of those themes. You might of course still get sued, and defending against a lawsuit is expensive

Of course, not being a lawyer I can't offer legal advice and you should go ask a lawyer for legal advice

You can always say your game is a parody

And make it obvious that it is

But even then, the law system runs on money -- and they have more money than you, and if they wanted to target you, you will lose.
