12:00 PM
Let's just turn the awfully ridiculous horror films of the 50s into a friggin' comic universe. That's an amazing idea.

@DrRDizzle something like Iron man 2 :p

They should just round this off by including the Munsters and the Adams Family into that bullshit thing.

Never saw it. Should I?

@AnkitSharma Iron Man 2 is better than 2/3rds of the DCEU so far. So actually, as much as I dislike Iron Man 2, even that would be an improvement.

@DrRDizzle not at all

12:01 PM
@NapoleonWilson I'd totally watch an Avengers\X-men-like Addams movie

@Walt That's a hard one. It depends how open you are to more experimental movies - there isn't anything resembling a traditional narrative here.
The entire thing is allegory.

@DrRDizzle I forgot ur opinion on Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

@DrRDizzle I don't mind experiments. Just ask my purple, slightly smoking cat
2

And you know what, Victor Frankenstein needs some terrible clichéd bullshit assistant named Igor, that'd be awesome. And the creation should look like fuckin' Boris Karloff. And let's revivie Christopher Lee from the dead to play Dracula, like in that bullshit Hammer Studios film.
No thanks.

@AnkitSharma It was pretty alright. Enjoyable enough.

12:04 PM
@DrRDizzle k

@NapoleonWilson Hasn't Igor been a part of the "lore" of Frankenstein since... well, not literally forever, but a long ass time?

And I know who should direct all those bullshit films, Tim effin' Burton, preferrably in 50s retro gothic style.
@DrRDizzle No, he has not. Want some actual Frankenstein film, watch the Branagh version.

@NapoleonWilson I've seen it, in an English class many moons ago.

@NapoleonWilson Didn't Lee already star in a posthumous role?

@Walt I don't know. That might have been Bruce, though.

12:08 PM
I only liked Frankenstein in Ven helsing ;)
But now they made ven helsing a girl in a TV series and might remake it too .....grrrrr....

Well, Van Helsing was utter and complete bullshit, too. But it was fun and entertaining.

ouch

@AnkitSharma <pedant> You mean the monster. Also, spiders aren't insects and whales aren't fish.
...Yes, you may slap me.

@Walt slap

@Walt Noone slaps you, that's absolutely correct to point out.

12:10 PM
@DrRDizzle Thanks, I needed that

@Walt My point was I never even liked Frankenstein and his story
@DrRDizzle watch ur head flying DVDs coming

The entire point of Frankenstein is that "the monster" isn't the monster. Frankenstein is the monster.

@AnkitSharma Amazingly, I'll have to agree that the monster's depiction in Val Helsing was the least godawful thing about it. Still silly, but not as silly as everything else there

@AnkitSharma They're vinyls, not DVDs.

12:12 PM
@DrRDizzle That's why you shouldn't call it the monster, indeed.

@DrRDizzle Headless person can't really tell the difference :p

@NapoleonWilson Isn't he referred to as Adam at one point in the book?

@DrRDizzle I thought the mindless mob were the real monsters?

Maybe they can pull off some reasonable films, though. If only there wasn't actually the word combination "Untitled Bride of Frankenstein film" in the friggin' Wikipedia article.
@DrRDizzle I doubt that. I think they just call it the creation.
Or creature.

@NapoleonWilson Ah, Wikipedia says that it was Shelley herself that called the monster Adam.

12:14 PM
@DrRDizzle Ugh, BtVS season 4 flashbacks :(

So not in the book.
@Walt BtVS?

@Walt To some degree yes, unless you mean an actual mob with pitchforks, which is as well a relic of awful cinematic treatment.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American television series created by Joss Whedon under his production tag, Mutant Enemy Productions with later co-executive producers being Jane Espenson, David Fury, David Greenwalt, Doug Petrie, Marti Noxon, and David Solomon. The series premiered on March 10, 1997, on The WB and concluded on May 20, 2003, on UPN. The series narrative follows Buffy Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar), the latest in a line of young women known as "Vampire Slayers", or simply "Slayers". In the story, Slayers are "called" (chosen by fate) to battle against vampires, demons,...

Bart the Vertical Skateboarder?
Oh.
@Walt What if the audience are the real monsters.

@DrRDizzle Some show. Season 4 (which had some great individual episodes but a dumb arc) featured a useless Frankenstein monster villain named Adam.

12:16 PM
Critics are the monster not the audience
@Walt So you followed BtVS too........

@AnkitSharma I vote for the studio heads

@AnkitSharma You're not wrong. This is what one paper had to say about "Frankenstein" when it was first published;
> "The writer of it is, we understand, a female; this is an aggravation of that which is the prevailing fault of the novel; but if our authoress can forget the gentleness of her sex, it is no reason why we should; and we shall therefore dismiss the novel without further comment"

@AnkitSharma Speaking of shows I rewatched an unhealthy amount of times

@Walt I have not seen it fully only seen 10-12 episodes in out of order

@AnkitSharma It's not for everyone

12:18 PM
BtVS, X-file and Angel are in my after retirement list
@Walt In the contrary I like it

I doubt they'd hold up well in like 30 years ;)

user116211
@DrRDizzle Poor Dizzle is marked by Skynet now; beware.

But BtVS have 144 episodes, so not possible before retirement

user116211
Uff... an on-field umpire got hit heavily in his skull by a throw from Bhuvi @AJ.

@MAFIA36790 Huh? I didn't mark him yet I don't know what you're talking about
2

12:20 PM
And then Angel have 110 episode

@Walt Indeed.

user116211
He was first attended by the English Medical Team.

user116211
Later he was hospitalised.

@NapoleonWilson Some just barely hold up now

The X-Files have 208, that means I need 20 years after retirement with a full time servant

12:21 PM
@MAFIA36790 Is that...from Arrow or Supergirl?

@MAFIA36790 That's OK - I always carry a bottle of water with me, just in case Skynet attacks.

@NapoleonWilson cricket

user116211
@NapoleonWilson No, the ongoing cricket match between Eng and Ind.

@AnkitSharma You can skip the last 2-3 seasons, that'll simplify things. And the revival.

@Walt no fun in skipping

12:23 PM
What we would really need is a list of X-Files episodes that don't feature the slightest hint of any broader revolving background storyline. And then watch just these.

user116211
He lost his sense and remained lying in the ground unconscious for more than 10mins.

@AnkitSharma It's fun when they're at the end. Then you can pretend the show just ended there. The Simpsons only had 8 seasons. Arrested Development had 3. Dexter had 5. The X Files had 6. That's more than enough anyway.

user116211
@walt, watching the s9 of Friends though not all the episodes.

user116211
Last watched where Chandler resigned from his unknown job and came back to surprise all of them from Tulsa.

Tulsa Doom?

12:26 PM
@MAFIA36790 "watching" Peering through your fingers in horror, you mean :P
@MAFIA36790 Gad, IIRC it was a clip show that pretended it wasn't a clip show
They had like 10 clip shows in the last couple of seasons

user116211
He got his enlightenment due to the second prettiest girl in Oklahoma ;P

@MAFIA36790 How do you know which ones to skip? Or are you just doing it randomly

user116211
@Walt Indeed it was.

user116211
@Walt No; depends on my schedule; if I get the chance, I catch.

@Walt Dexter had few good episode in season 7 but after 8th I lost faith in humanity

12:29 PM
@AnkitSharma Very few IIRC, but that's fair

@Walt Hannah McKay was hot in season 7, in 8 she became lame
I think there are dexter revival plans too

@AnkitSharma In 8 she became the worst written character in living memory

@Walt exactly

Q: Why is the movie titled "Fracture" ?

user44131Why is the movie titled "Fracture" ? I watched the movie but couldn't find anything related to Fracture.

@AnkitSharma Sheesh. Where he slays murderous birch trees?

12:32 PM
Deb should have killed Dexter in season 7 ending scene to save us form lumberjack shit

user116211
@Walt They were more of celebrations of the past seasons.

user116211
I remember the last Thanksgiving episode were all recollection of the past Thanksgiving episodes.

user116211
It was funny how Chandler lost his toe.

@MAFIA36790 'TOW The Memorial Service' and 'TOW the Lottery' aren't bad. But then they go to Barbados and... Ugh. You're really not going to like that.

@AJ @MAFIA36790 ^^

user116211
12:36 PM
@Walt ooh; I'm watching because it's the penultimate season and till so far it was okay.

Pahlaj Nihalani is too weird

@AnkitSharma But then season 6 would still have existed. She should've shot him through the plastic sheet in the season 5 finale. :P

@NapoleonWilson is it going to be a on-topic question?
@Walt I can't eliminate Hannah McKay

user116211
@AnkitSharma Couldn't understand a single word; don't know the person also.

user116211
The songs in Befikre are quite good.

12:40 PM
@MAFIA36790 Are you living under the rock O.o

user116211
._.

user116211
I was terrified by Savitar all these days lately ;/

The whole Indian know Pahlaj Nihalani is a censor-board chief who love to censor everything
His censorship is controversial and contradictory

user116211
Ahh! yes, now recognised.

He is also politically inclined to ruling party which is also questionable

user116211
12:41 PM
what is the problem with Befikre scenes, btw?

@AnkitSharma So just make her one of Quinn's billion girlfriends in season 3 or something. Or just ogle her on Chuck :P

@Walt lol

user116211
@Walt Did you see Chuck ?!!

@MAFIA36790 Nah, just the pilot

@MAFIA36790 He gave Befikre UA certificate which contradicted his past decisions
Then he defended that kiss in befikre is not intimate, so they are fien

12:43 PM
Guys, what's it called when a film in a genre is actively commenting on or deconstructing the genre is belongs to?

user116211
@AnkitSharma Frankly speaking, I have no problem at all with any of the scenes.

user116211
@AnkitSharma But if this is the way he reasoned, then he is just dumb.

@MAFIA36790 finally you got my point \o/

@DrRDizzle It's called Randy Meeks Syndrome

He tried to ruin Udta punjab and from that day I hate this guy

user116211
12:44 PM
I've lost faith in the censor board quite a few years ago.

I am happy that he lost the case and Udta punjab saved

user116211
@AnkitSharma I just don't care about this dumb guy and his reasoning.

@AnkitSharma Meh, I doubt it.

@MAFIA36790 It was better before Pahlaj

@Walt whoosh That's gone straight over my head.

user116211
12:45 PM
@AnkitSharma hmm

@MAFIA36790 But he has effect over what we see in theater screen
@DrRDizzle mine too

@DrRDizzle Hey, Scream 3 is still from the 21st century. I'm not that old

user116211
yes, that's why, I just wonder who chose him.

user116211
@Walt ;P

@Walt That doesn't mean people know his last name that well.

12:47 PM
Well, what do you call Scream? Post-horror? Neo-horror?

@Walt Randy Meeks was in 3rd film too O.o
@DrRDizzle cool-horror

@DrRDizzle Thriller.

@AnkitSharma Yes, posthumously

@NapoleonWilson But it's commenting on the horror genre. I'm sure there is a word or a name for that.

@DrRDizzle Postmodern horror

12:48 PM
@MAFIA36790 he is untouchable now as BJP support him

Scream did what that Cabin thing then tried with blunt force. And Scream was an entertaining genre film in addition to that.

@NapoleonWilson Well, just Randy Syndrome sounds too vague and also kinda kinky :P

user116211
@AnkitSharma Why do the political parties interfere? hmm

Basically, I'm trying to open my review of Moana by talking about the way that rozen deconstructing the Princess genre to the point where a straight Princess film after that might seem trite, or old-fashioned.

I liked Scream 1 and 2 after that they were just there to repeat what they already did

12:50 PM
And I'm struggling to write that.

user116211
Anyways, will be watching Arrow after 40 mins.

@Walt that proves that you confuse me on purpose all the time .
@NapoleonWilson agreed

@DrRDizzle You mean a Genre Killer?

@Walt Pretty much. Frozen killed the princess movie.

@MAFIA36790 I will take bit long
@DrRDizzle what about tangled
At-least in Tangled, male character was not just a filler

12:52 PM
@DrRDizzle Why, because they just doubled down on everything? :P

@Walt I'll fight you.

@DrRDizzle That sounds like a reasonable wording. Why do need an actual term to describe that situation with a single word? That doesn't necessarily make it more comprehensive.

I think brave achieved it better then frozen

@NapoleonWilson I'm just trying to turn that into a form of prose. I don't just one word for it, but if there is one, it sure would be useful.

But Brave and Tangled didn't got forzen hype :(

12:54 PM
@MAFIA36790 Do you also watch things other than CW DC shows?
@Walt Not really.

@DrRDizzle Hey, I already let you slap me once. Twice is extra

@NapoleonWilson he watch Gotham and Lucifer ;)................and cricket :p
@Walt mark him now

@AnkitSharma Well, that's simply because they aren't as good.

I doubt Frozen actually deconstructed the princess film, though.

@DrRDizzle Brave was a total disappointment

12:56 PM
Those girls still run wild for anything Frozen-related here.

@DrRDizzle Tangled >>>>>frozen. Brave was somewhat equal to frozen

Just because sister-love trumped boyfriend-love?

@Walt O.o

@NapoleonWilson It 100% did. Took apart a number of tropes most closely associated with the genre, as well as having Elsa basicaly run around pointing out how little the plots of these films usually make sense.

It was still pretty much a Disney thing, complete with songs and fancy dance parties.

12:57 PM
Why Survivor question got downvote O.o

At one point, Elsa actually says "You can't marry a guy you've only known for 20 minutes" or something like that.
It's a surprisingly subversive movie.

@DrRDizzle I loved that scene

@DrRDizzle It seems to need a little more than a few self-derogatory statements to deconstruct a genre. That seems a little too superficial.

I need my vote limit back to counter the survivor question downvote

@AnkitSharma Why, did you like it? I thought it started off as a cool, empowering twist on the princess genre, but at some point it suddenly just turns into Brother Bear. Seriously, what was that about?

1:00 PM
@NapoleonWilson But the whole film is structured around the idea that finding your one true love is a nonsense idea.

Meh, I'm not really a fan of reality TV, nor of its place on this site. So the best I can do is just refrain from voting on that Survivor thing.

@Walt It was fun cool film, nothing deep in it but not bad either
@NapoleonWilson hmmm

@DrRDizzle Sure.

@DrRDizzle but she did found a true love :p

@AnkitSharma I don't think so.

1:01 PM
@AnkitSharma Just thought it would be something else, and it was at a time where I still expected more from Pixar
@NapoleonWilson Survivor is pretty much a scripted drama, though

@Walt so fault lie in your high expectation :p

@Walt As are most reality TV things.

@NapoleonWilson Not to that extent, though. Episodes and seasons actually have narratives there.

I see. Well, I haven't ever watched it anyway.

Watched 20+ seasons, regretably

1:05 PM
Do you guys know about Jade Goody and what happen with her

user116211
@NapoleonWilson As ankit said, also some cartoon shows and sitcoms.

I don't even know who that is.

@AnkitSharma Vaguely. A racist contestant on Big Brother or something?
@MAFIA36790 Yeah, Friends isn't exactly CW. It's CW with a laugh track. :P

Jade Goody with two housemate said racial stuff about co-housemate Shipla Shetty (Indian celebrity) in Biog brother

@AnkitSharma Odd, she doesn't strike me as Amish

1:08 PM
In the end Shipla Shetty won Big brother UK and Jade Goody got shammed a lot way more then she should ever been

@AnkitSharma Yes.
She's dead.

Then she came to Indian version of Big brother

@DrRDizzle Yikes. I regret my Goody-Amish joke now

Then she left the show due to her sickness and media accused her of faking it
and then she died

@AnkitSharma But I think her death was unrelated?

1:11 PM
@DrRDizzle I hated when even few of UK media said that she is faking her sickness

Unlike the first ever booted reality contestant that killed himself. I think I wrote about it in an SE answer somewhere

She died in sleep
Not sure about the cause
@Walt ?

user116211
@AnkitSharma Wiki link?

@AnkitSharma Cancer, it seems

Jade Cerisa Lorraine Goody (5 June 1981 – 22 March 2009) was an English reality-television personality. She entered the public spotlight in the third series of the then-Channel 4 programme Big Brother in 2002, an appearance which led to her own TV programmes and the introduction of her products after her eviction from the show. In January 2007, Goody was a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother 5. During the show, she was accused of racially bullying the Indian actress Shilpa Shetty. After her eviction from the show, she admitted that her actions were wrong and made a number of public apologies. In...

Q: Which was the first reality competition TV program that used the now common format of eliminating one contestant each episode?

Matthew KaneIt's now a common trope of the genre, whether it's getting kicked off the island or being told "You're fired!" but somebody had to have come up with this first. Who created the episode-ending elimination ceremony?

Speaking of Survivor

@Walt holy shit
Why kill urself for a stupid reality show

@AnkitSharma Well, we know they're stupid now
@AnkitSharma I'm guessing it's why they have shrinks on staff now

I heard about one US dating show where the winning girl have to date a guy which turn out to be real life serial killer, fortunately she turn down the date after the show and survived

@AnkitSharma Sounds like a concept that Fox might actually air :(
Anyway, workload piling up. :/ TTFN Guys

In Indian Big boss brother they even invited one famous accused thief and ex-gf of a Don

Q: Why Melisandre don't use Mance Rayder for blood Magic

PantherMelisandre conjures shadow ghost with King Stannis to kill Renly. She cannot continue doing this as Stannis becomes weak due to this magic. Later, she uses Gendry (King Robert's bastard ) blood for magic. So I wonder why see didn't used "King beyond the Wall" Mance Rayder for magic once Stannis ...

PantherIn season 3 of Game of Thrones, Melisandre the "Red Woman" exchanges Gendry by paying lots of gold to the Brotherhood Without Banners. Later, she reveals that Gendry has royal blood as he is Robert's son. Very few people were aware of this fact and he was one of very less known bastards. Even he ...

Query!
Does this paragraph make sense to anyone?
> Moana can't have been an easy film to make. Three years on and it has become all the more clear the kind of impact that Frozen really had - not only was it something of a cultural phenomenon, it was also a surprisingly subversive film that pretty much refuted the very notion of the princess movie. Any film attempting to get away with a "one true love's kiss" is going to seem trite and old-fashioned after Frozen went about deconstructing many of the tropes most closely associated with these kind of films, and that puts Moana in a very odd position indeed. As a swansong to the genre at larg

@DForck42 blame @MAFIA36790 for spoilers

@DrRDizzle first off, brave was A LOT better than frozen, and didn't follow the typical princess story either

@DrRDizzle O.o

@DrRDizzle Why shouldn't it? Apart from content disputes already elaborated in chat, the grammar and coherence seem totally fine. But it probably should be either "this kind" or "these kinds".

@walt see what @DForck42 said

2:43 PM
@NapoleonWilson It's coherence I care about, so good. I'm just checking to make sure my point there is clear, really. The second paragraph will go on to talk about the ways that Moana continues to evolve the princess movie, so it's important (to me) that people understand what I mean.
@DForck42 Counter-point: Brave is just so, so boring.

Who even says Moana is a friggin' "princess movie"? What on earth is a "princess movie"? Can't it just be a buck-normal run-of-the-mill Disney film? Or does the appearance of a girl make it a "princess movie"?

@NapoleonWilson ...she's a princess.

user116211
> Is Laurel really alive? Well, I guess we'll have to tune in...Obviously, people don't just come back from the dead, so there has to be some sort of vetting process to make sure it actually is Laurel, because the group has seen some peculiar things. But we delve into that when we come back in the new year.

@DrRDizzle I 100% disagree with that sentiment

Not in name, admittedly, but she's the daughter of the person in charge. She fulfills the status of princess.

2:46 PM
So what? I doubt every effin' Disney film with a princess had the story of a little girl's fairy tale, even before Frozen.

@MAFIA36790 and now I know laurel dies, thanks...

user116211
Quote of Stephen Amell seems to point that.

Disney Princess, also called the Princess Line, is a media franchise owned by The Walt Disney Company. Created by Disney Consumer Products chairman Andy Mooney in the early 2000s, the franchise features a line-up of fictional female protagonists who have appeared in various Disney franchises. The franchise does not include all princess characters from the whole of Disney-owned media, but rather refers to specific characters from the company's animated films. As of 2015, the eleven characters considered part of the franchise are Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas,...
It's a defined franchise.

Once we try to argue by whatever construed means that it is an actual "princess movie" only to find out that it is suddenly devoid of any characterisitics of a typical "princess movie", we might rather want to consider the logic of our argumentation to begin with. Maybe it's just not a "princess movie", rather than an incredibly subversive and suprisignly non-princess-like one. ;-)

Although one that curiously, doesn't include Frozen or Moana.

2:48 PM
Do we need spoiler chat room here too

user116211
@AnkitSharma AoN

user116211
> All things considered, especially Amell's words, it would seem to me that whoever Oliver runs into in the bunker isn't the real Laurel Lance, since they'll be doing whatever is necessary to vet her honesty. But what is she, then? Not likely an alien or anything, but perhaps a shapeshifting metahuman? Or maybe she isn't real at all and is a lingering effect inside his head from his stay on The Dominators' ship.

user116211
Hmm

If someone showed me a trailer of Moana and asked me if that is a "princess movie" I'd say "wut? no!", because you don't have to be a little girl to watch it.

@NapoleonWilson You don't have to be a little girl to watch Aladdin either.
In fact, regardless of age or gender, anyone can watch any of those films.

2:52 PM
@DrRDizzle Yeah, because that's not a "princess movie" either. Just because one of the characters is a princess? C'mon, it's got to be more coherent than that.

@MAFIA36790 I can't go to SFF rooms

@NapoleonWilson If Disney say it's a princess movie, it's a princess movie.

@DrRDizzle But then tell me in which way Aladdin adheres to the traits of a typical princess movie, traits that only Frozen revolutionized gloriously.

@DrRDizzle Disney princess is just a doll selling propogenda
@MAFIA36790 I know

@NapoleonWilson It's got a princess in it. Disney said "this is a princess movie". That's all you need.
In fairness, given the choice I wouldn't include Aladdin as one purely because the protagonist is Aladdin, not Jasmine.
And (AFAIK) in all the others, the protagonist is the female.

@DrRDizzle Sure, but either we choose a content- and style-oriented definition of "princess movie", then many of the films Disney counts as that don't seem to adhere to this definition. Or we choose Disney's marketing definition, but then the concept of the "classic princess movie" has been violated by enough ealier films already.

What is going on with @DrRDizzle here? What is he fighting over?

@NapoleonWilson "The main character is a princess" fits any of the films that I'd want to class as princess movies. So I'll go for that.
