I'm pretty much wasted for today, but if you suddenly have any revelations about that game's concept, be sure to write it down somewhere lest you forget
uh not sure how me being wasted is related to that, but it is!
@user1306322 I will most likely not have any right now what I am thinkering is how we should split things up and work as a team rather than what the theme would be since we are 3 programmers, and we will have to some how split and be able to work together on different portions of the code
so I guess I will have to look into MonoGame and XNA first to see a good way we can split up the work we will also need a Subversion so if you or @AsadaShino dun have an account I suggest you make one as it will be very handy to many things
once I get that defined or at least come up with an idea for that I will probably be looking at XNA itself and see what would be a good game concept to try out with it
I'm reading more in-depth stuff about differences between Git and Svn and it says you can't commit to Svn as much as you like without synchronizing all the data
with Git you can do whatever even without internet connection and then send all your changes once you're back home from work for example
I would in no way want something to push an update without even seeing what was changed and in this way if you try to push something after working offline you would get a warning yes
it's just that you don't seem to be fixed on any particular game engine, while you're very much in favor of SVN and it makes me wonder why, when literally every developer I've known personally uses Git
"it's just that you don't seem to be fixed on any particular game engine" yes I am not because I never had the change or need to check available engines to see how they are code-wise or anything related ;)
To put it simple, placing a tree at a specific place
with Unity tool you would simple walk in select a place, drag'n'drop
that makes it a huge dependency to people that get accustomed to it, you could of course make a similar tool to that of Unity with c# and XNA and for a 2d isometric would most likely not be that difficult but you would have to make it from scratch
that is proof that Unity is a program that allows you for scripting conveniences
well you have to draw the map textures, objects etc you could draw it along with textures if the map is static but if the game allows for the player breaking things you did actually need objects
