4:00 PM
@Wesley If (Height.Short() == true){WeightLifting.Required = True;}

@BigHomie Okay, big enough, but Zyph is 6'6 and about 350, so if you two get in a wrasslin' match, love you to death but my money is on George. =P

@Wesley Yeah, in those days he used a quill.

I'm short, I'm only 5'5 :(

@Wesley I could hold my own, I am from Detroit after all... ;)

@Wesley You have money?

4:01 PM
1 min ago, by BigHomie
@Wesley If (Height.Short() == true){WeightLifting.Required = True;}

@BigHomie Ohhhh snap, that changes things. From detroit and managed to make it to adulthood. You must be a psycho and killed an entire neighborhood.

@BigHomie I do normally, I've just been busy the last week or 2 :(

@Wesley It's like being from a hell dimension?

@Wesley Why does everyone say that?

@BigHomie Probably because of the crime scene photos of you gnawing on a femur.
@Skyhawk Hellraiser IX: MOORE PAIN

4:03 PM
@Wesley that was a chicken femur, we love our bbq here

@BigHomie Because Detroit?

@BigHomie Because we are afraid. We do not understand Detroit.

@Jacob I see what you did there

@BigHomie NO seriously; Detroit to us is like robocop BUT WORSE! The police only have time to respond to murder.

I want a 4K 13" laptop... And I'm not using a retina DE, I just want all those pixels...

4:04 PM
@BigHomie Well if @mfinni and @mattbear would show up, we could have a gin-you-wine lunkhead weightroom discussion.

@Skyhawk Detroit is not much different than Chicago (@ewwhite) or Compton. I actually heard there were people from Compton who were afraid to come to Detroit, explain that one. Detroit is fine, I'm not saying go strolling/riding/cycling around anywhere in Detroit at 1:00am, but during the day if you want to catch a game or a bite it's not like the wild west
@Wesley That sounds like a plan

@BigHomie Add me on Fitocracy! fitocracy.com/profile/Nonapeptide/?feed

@Wesley 404

@Jacob They don't always respond to shootings fast either, don't know about murder

@BigHomie That does sound like Compton.

4:06 PM
@Jacob You're from... Canada?

@Jacob You have to be logged in I think.

@BigHomie Virginia, for now that is.

@Jacob CWIDT

@BigHomie (Even though my Fitocracy feed shows I haven't been lifting heavy since last year. Damnable vertigo. But I'm back on a lifting plan, just to embarrassed at the numbers to post them.)

@BigHomie No not really?

4:07 PM
@BigHomie But I've been to the wrong part of Chicago, and I wouldn't go back.

I never knew that Compton was a real place. I thought it was just slang.

@Skyhawk I haven't yet, only been to Northville

@BigHomie South Bronx woop woop.

does anybody have password management software deployed for their users to manage their own passwords? what are you using?

@Jacob #fail, 403 is canada, 404 is ATL

4:10 PM
@longneck Users to manage their own passwords, like directory passwords? Or just passwords in general, like SecretServer, or KeePass on a network share?

@BigHomie I was saying that the link he gave me was a 404.

@Jacob woosh

@Jacob I know, we've had this discussion before with your cryptic 40x messages....

@MikeyB I actually just vi-ed .sh_history

I'm just soo lost here, I'm going to go back to getting work done.

4:11 PM
Okay, speaking of crime, there's more helicopter activity in my neighborhood so time to search the news outlets to see who's killed whom.

@Wesley You know, you could move to the Northwest and that wouldn't happen.

@Skyhawk I would do it, if there was a job that would 1) Hire me, and 2) Not make me want to put a gun in my mouth (i.e. no MSP work)
@Skyhawk Been trying to orbit Opscode / GetChef for the last few months just in case I could snatch up some crumbs.

@Wesley That's a fairly short list of requirements.

@Wesley passwords in general, so yes, like keepass

@Skyhawk I'm hoping to get into a more web-ops role, where the technology stack is heavily L{A|N}(M|P|Mo|No}{P|R}
@longneck I used SecretServer for a little while but it wasn't user-centric. I encourage users to use KeePass for themselves. Not quite the scenario that you're looking for though.
So to summarize: I'm useless.

4:15 PM

@dawud I think I played out my metal streak and have moved temporarily into ambient / chillout / chillstep.

@Wesley I mean, if you really want.

@Skyhawk HMMMMMMMM.....

@Wesley They'll get you into one paying at least $60K and they guarantee it (if they accept you and you complete the program). Price of admission is $12K, though.

@Skyhawk $12k huh... I was estimating about $16k, so that's good. Now, I wonder if any kind of food or room is included (most likely not)

4:17 PM
@Wesley Naw, but you can use the other 4K for that.

@Skyhawk Well considering I've got only 4k saved up... anyone have some odd jobs they'd like to toss my way for some currency? =P

@Wesley How's your *nix skills?

@Jacob I can get into trouble, and sometimes get out.
@Jacob I do draw a self respecting line concerning hourly wages though. =P

@Wesley You can get funded through Upstart, if you really want it.
@Jacob Oops. That wasn't supposed to happen here. Different audience.

@Skyhawk Looking...

4:21 PM
@Skyhawk Old :)

@Wesley no problem, nice to see you around :)

@dawud Yeah, been staying focused. Nothing good happened out of it though, so I came back to The Comms Room.
=P
So now I'm just sitting here curling my two month moustache growth to stick up my nose.

@Wesley MIT has some of those free courses for programming/devops too

@NathanC Oh right, forgot about those. Also, iTunes U or whatever it's called has some interesting stuff.

I tried the python one, but I didn't have any time to devote to the course so I ended up dropping it :(

4:23 PM
I've also been going through CodeSchool's Ruby courses.

kce
@Wesley - Are you DevOps yet? Have the handlebar mustache?

@kce Got the growth, got the wax. Been toying with applying and styling it, but haven't got the technique down well enough to walk out of the house with it

kce
@Wesley - Righteous!

@ewwhite You should turn your comment in to an answer here: meta.serverfault.com/questions/6259/…
I think it's an important point a lot of people miss.

@Wesley Boom

4:36 PM
@mfinni Yo. We got another lifter: @BigHomie
@mfinni You're both about identical in size if I recall your specs.

I lifted 7,000 pounds this morning. Actually, 7030. Our WOD today was 7 grand, ground-to-overhead. I did 74x 93# clean-and-jerks

A squat-off totally has to happen now.

sorry, 95#
brb

@mfinni Frick.

`Sodding.pdf`
...
Oh right. Landscaping company.

4:41 PM
@Tanner heh, maybe another time :)

@MikeyB pipelaying.jpg Oh right, plumbing company. =P

back, sorry

Yeah @Tanner, @ewwhite doesn't like ServerFault anymore. =(

@Skyhawk do you use strava ?

Is there any way on Windows to do the equivalent of the `time` command?
$ time sqlite3 scratch/.csync_journal.db "SELECT phash, path, inode, uid, gid, mode, modtime, type, md5, fileid FROM metadata WHERE path LIKE('Photos/Construction Images/%')"
real 0m0.077s
user 0m0.025s
sys 0m0.050s
@mfinni We're sorry you're back as well

4:42 PM
@Iain Helicopter life-flights, totally no-fair-but-no-one-will-have-the-heart-to-complain way to get 150 additional miles to your trip in just over one hour. =P

@MikeyB Most excellent. Even better, I have no answer for you and I don't think there is an equivalent of "time" on windows

@mfinni Front, totally not sorry.

Oh, sorry... Windows XP.

@MikeyB You monster.

4:43 PM
@MikeyB Actually, the Windows Performance Toolkit should do a fantastic job of it, but it's not a lightweight CLI tool.
@MikeyB Good find!

@Wesley basically

@Wesley "Yes, the owncloud sync takes an hour because you have 140 thousand files. And a 15-year old computer."

@ewwhite You can't stop now, you're almost on top of Evan Anderson.

@MikeyB And are using 802.11b on channel 6 in a crowded office park with a computer parked between a microwave and a cordless phone.

4:46 PM
@mfinni only works for powershell scriptblocks it looks like.
@Wesley Actually, that time is all spent enumerating the local data for changes.

@mfinni ah nice. The help said script-block.

@MikeyB Get some FusionIO cards from @ewwhite

@Wesley hah I sell them dude.
Before you can get them
@mfinni how do I give parameters to ipconfig? (in that block?)
PS S:\shared> measure-command { "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\sqlite3.exe" .csync_journal.db "SELECT phash

Unexpected token '.csync_journal.db' in expression or statement.

@MikeyB Not sure - Measure-Command { C:\Windows\System32\ipconfig.exe /all } worked fine for me

4:56 PM
@mfinni shit that works for me too

you might need to throw an extra set of parens or quotes or some other ever-livin thing around that one-liner.
@MikeyB This fails : Measure-Command { "C:\Windows\System32\ipconfig.exe" /all } - so you definitely need some form of delimiter around the whole thing

@mfinni Quoting on Windows, how the fuck did they screw it up again
yeah, the solution is moving sqlite3.exe to someplace without a space in the path
