11:00 PM
Maybe someday I'll go full hipster and pay the $57 for a straight razor shave...

@Magellan I paid $85 plus tip up in South Lake Union

@freiheit NEVER go FULL Hipster.
@RyJones yikes. that's most of my monthly booze budget.

@Magellan Don't worry, I'll never wear tight baggy jeans...

I get a straight razor shave on my neck/line up when I get a haircut

11:01 PM
I just don't have the right thighs for that look...

@cole yes, this was straight razor shave.

The best.
I get my haircut every 11 days.

@cole it was the most intimate I've been with a woman in over a decade.

My hair grows ridiculously fast - I get a skin fade too.

I do ~5 weeks. Get a haircut and beard/stache trim combo.

11:02 PM
@RyJones sounds like..a good time?

it was very strange, but I had a meeting today and I wanted to exude less of a homeless vibe. Then the meeting was moved to next week, so, lesson learned

@RyJones doh.

@cole incredibly awkward. I don't like being touched by anyone, ever.

@RyJones oh me either, so I feel you.
I've been going to my barber for 2 years - so I'm comfortable with him.

@cole should we meet again, we can not shake hands as acknowledgement.

11:04 PM
@RyJones I'm coming out again in a few months.

@cole to Seattle proper or Issaquah?

Gonna do more IN Seattle this time around.
But free to stay in Issaquah, that's the thing.
But I'm def gonna do more things in Seattle. I don't know, I think the West Coast is for me, but Issaquah is not.

@RyJones their "membership plans" are a pretty good deal.
@cole yeah, Issaquah is very very suburban.

My friend was saying a lot of people live outside the city and commute in.

@Magellan if I thought I would actually make an appointment and show, I would consider it

11:06 PM
I don't think I could do the commute from Issaquah > Seattle daily
How's Renton?

@cole it has amused me for decades that people live and work on opposite sides of the water.

@cole it's pretty redneck down here.

Lame.

@cole ghetto shithole

@RyJones ummm.....

11:06 PM
Seattle is so expensive to live in - it's like the same as Boston.
My girlfriend was kinda like "If you wanna move to Seattle - fucking lets go"

@Magellan I lived and worked on the same side of the water until 2007 when I took a job in Seattle.
and I haven't moved since 2005, so I'm a little set in my ways

@RyJones ah. I don't think I could do that commute during regular hours unless I moto-commuted daily.
Being able to fly past all the cars in the HOV is kind of addictive.

then again I have a co-worker that moved up from San Diego and bought a little farm in Marysville, laughing when we said he'd hate the commute. At least he has the class not to bring it up when his commute is three hours a day
@Magellan Agreed. My commute is the counter commute, so traffic pretty much doesn't exist outside of ball games

I don't miss a 3hr commute.

it's 20 minutes door-to-door from Kirkland to my parking garage in Seattle.

11:10 PM
@RyJones yep. the 5 year plan for my wife and I is to eliminate the commute completely and move to Idaho.

whats in Idaho?

@cole not people
my weekend in Idaho last week made me sad, because everything is wonderful there and shit here

Potatoes.

@RyJones Exactly. And some good skiing.

@cole much less than you'd think. Mostly wheat and peas.

11:12 PM
I hate peas.

@cole they hate you

GOOD.

I went... pea skiing? not sure what the analog of water skiing is if you're on a thick layer of peas.

that's...interesting

not sure I want to know about that.

11:13 PM
better than pee skiing

anyway, a semi dropped a gaylord of dried peas on the Lewiston grade right ahead of me and I hit the literal wave of peas on 95
lady in front of me went into the railing, I did a 180
dried peas are like ball bearings
actually, probably not a proper gaylord, one of those white kevlar bags

Fucking Symantec Enterprise Vault
@Magellan @RyJones did you both works for Amazon at one point?

@cole I did, I don't think @Magellan did

It's a sweatshop, right?

@cole Yes.

kce
11:20 PM
@Wesley GOJIRA.

Blah

@RyJones Oh my. That's unpleasant.

kce
@cole Still thinking of moving to Seattle?

@cole OTOH, there's plenty of positions open in this town still. Things are about to get interesting though with MSFT laying off piles of people soon.

@kce i dont know - things are just not working out here.

11:21 PM
@Magellan agreed. Now is the time to find work

@RyJones I figure I've got about 6 months tops, or I'll be at the current place for quite awhile until the market settles out.

@Magellan I thought you were resigned to stay for a while

kce
@Magellan I thought you were in a good position? Don't tell me the economy is going to tank again down south?
@cole You should move to Alaska and become a crab fisherman.

@kce fuck no
I'm short and not super strong, fuck that

@RyJones My patience with the situation is about done. My shift is 3p-12a every day, but I pretty have to work day shift too since my work requires meeting with the Devs during the day if I want to get even a satisfactory review.

11:26 PM
@Magellan oh that sucks.

@RyJones not to mention that I cannot make Thursday nights anymore either, which irritates me.

@Magellan reason enough to quit, if you didn't have new twins to worry about

kce
@Magellan Wow. That sounds not good.

@RyJones exactly. so I'm hunting. and while the money there is ok, it's not great.

kce
@cole We could buy a crab boat together. We'd be crabby.

11:28 PM
@kce I'm already crabby - I'm a SysAdmin!

I worked with a guy that owned a boat with his brother, it was neat when it went by twice a year on the way down the coast.

yolo

he'd hand out whatever they had a hold full of.

kce
@RyJones Tasty.
Tasty, tasty crabs.

11:40 PM
@kce yup

kce
So does anyone here actually enjoy their jobs?

no
so windows is vulnerable to command line injection too
under very specific circumstances....

kce
This place is a den of pessimism.
(My own included)

@kce do you enjoy your job?
oh... my bike got stolen from my apartment
:(

kce
Eh. It's OK.

11:45 PM
insurance is gonna buy me a new one though

kce
@MattBear Sorry about your bike. That is sad.

im thinking Trek 2.1
@kce yeah, I was home, 2 feet from it, playing League Of Legends
and it's a pretty nice, gated complex

kce
:(
I had one of my snowboards stolen once. It hurts.

@MattBear That sucks.
@MattBear Do you have the serial number?

@kce if I had walked out to investigate the noise I heard... they would of been the ones hurting
@freiheit heh nope
trying to find it actually
heading home, kid duty :p

11:49 PM
@MattBear Did you buy it from a regular bike shop? They'll probably have a record.

out
@freiheit bought it from a friend
so were trying to find it
gots to go

Gah I hate listening to people refer to items by their brand name
"Can you do that in Adobe?" (Photoshop)
"Is your Google up to date" (Chrome)
And these are people who are meant to be running an IT department at a gigantic company
"Are you running that on an Apple?" (they mean an iPad)

@MarkHenderson when I worked at Microsoft, I was personally responsible for every sin Microsoft had ever committed. Furthermore, I was expected to be an expert in all Microsoft products. It was annoying.

"But you're a Microsoft! Why can't you tell me why I can't orient the Ganntt chart in MS Project! You're useless!"
"Umm, I work in the cafeteria..."
