(Though there was a joke that on some small chinese airline, in economy class you had a packet of food thrown to you. In first class you got two packets of food thrown to you)
@ewwhite My Dad is flew from Canada to NY last night, and is heading to Dallas and then Pheonix later in the week so if he gets Ebola and isn't allowed back into our country I will hold @Wesley personally responsible
The official reason given today is that Win10 is that good and more advanced than 8 that it deserved to skip 9. There's some speculation that they wanted to distance themselves from 8, but I think it just comes across gimmicky and shallow.
We've considered using one of the Start Menu replacement things, but most don't support GPO and all sorts of weird drawbacks.
Yeah, but I've got accountants who need "easy" access to ~50 different programs. They're used to a hierarchical start menu. I organized a start screen for them and they weren't amused. Also, can't update the start screen from GPO.
Anyway I contacted his tech support and apparently they have a static DNS entry for our system in the DNS server that their iPads use when they are connected to their VPN
They have updated the static entry and I should see him drop off soon
I hate it when people don't introduce themselves on the phone. Once you've past the cordial hellos and into the small talk, it's too late to say "Oh by the way, who is this?" and you need to try and figure out who they are by what they're inevitably calling to complain about
I use filters and subfolders. I really should set some of the filters to delete or unsubscribe to the email lists as they never get read - amazon in particular
@MichelZ Imagine you have a porcupine running around in your abdomen. In addition to all its spikes, it's also got a number of vicious tiny gnomes running with it. All of them are kicking at your intestines, some of them are also grabbing and twisting whatever they can reach.
Or just ask someone to kick you in the wossname, you'll probably get the idea.
the attitude might be considered harsh when your questions suck, but instead of blaming the others one should check what made the others result to such actions. (not victim blaming much though)
@Chopper3 yes, we are a gang, that is true. it has a reason why we have so high rep... because we're the active users on the site. that's how it is here
@Chopper3 To be honest, I am seriously surprised about the prices of components on eBay...you could probably build a very decent machine for under £300
@Chopper3 if he wants to test an embedded linux on switching hardware it might not be that wrong in my opinion, though i certainly not think he is that deep in chip design :)
@Chopper3 I played a few games last night, couple of Rush and one Conquest (that I didn't realise was in the server rotation). Seems better, but still needs some work.
I don't like online gaming much. I think it's because I work in a college - if I wanted to hear angst-ridden teenagers scream abuse at me I can go to work and get paid for it.
@RobM Battlefield is far less 'dumb' than CoD, less arcadey, you can use real military tactics and they pay off, it's less full of kids either, though you do get a lot of text chatter about 'noobs' etc.
@pauska the trick with battlefield DLC is to buy the premium pack on day one and they work out much cheaper overall, there's a new one due soon but I don't like the look of it myself
