11:00 PM
@MDMarra im not really responsible for it, im just trying to help the people that are out, because they aren't exactly up to figuring it out
hell, back in 2001 I was using ghost/sysprep/unattend to set up labs
either off of DVD's or network
when I got here, this entire place was essentially running in pre-NT mode, it was so stupid

A: How to automate slipstream?

MDMarraFor Windows 7, I've broken this down into smaller chunks so that I have more control. This assumes that you have a directory structure like this and that you download the .msu updates from Microsoft to the updates folder: c:\ - Win7 --- mount --- updates --- stagedupdates You can obviously...

@MDMarra or use the update catalog and get the cab's directly there

Some ugly .bat
It worked with 7, no guarantee it works with anything before/after
@pauska ...wat

What I don't get is, why would anybody WANT the source code to CrapFusion?

11:03 PM
@MichaelHampton because sites run on it and now they can compromise them

open that in IE
search for any KB or any PCI device ID

oh my fucking god are you serious
I hate all the time I wasted on this

search for VEN_10DE&DEV_0A65

nice

this is the same place windows updates get their stuff from
or wsus for that matter

11:05 PM
well fuck me, I never knew

ok.. im on information overload right now lol

The Office 365 team is preparing to transition your Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) service to Exchange Online Protection (EOP).
WAT

yeah the Forefront line is being dismantled

@pauska They're phasing out the Forefront brand, it's the exact same service

@MathiasR.Jessen no, it's not

11:08 PM
FTMG is EOL, FEP is being rebranded as SCEP

@MDMarra Oh yeah, that.

EOP is o365's EAC
god damnit EAC sucks in exchange 2013.. oh well

The Exchange admin center (EAC) is a single unified management console that allows for ease of use and is optimized for all types of deployments. The new and improved EAC replaces the Forefront Online Protection for Exchange Administration Center. EAC provides a tighter integration with Office 365 and a consistent, seamless UI experience across Exchange products (Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft Exchange Server 2013).
one very good thing though - o365 is in Europe
"Yes, 7 days of message trace data. This value will be increased to 90 days. This functionality is targeted to be added to the service in the first quarter of 2014."
oh come on....
Migrate on-premises mailboxes to Office 365 including Exchange Online: Yes, with a significantly simplified transition experience
Gee, wonder why they are shutting down FOPE

I didn't say I was impressed, but it's still the same product... just more annoying in form

forefront was kind of a poison brand in many respects

I wonder how this affects pricing...

since they got off to such a horrible start

I'm mostly disappointed that they haven't announced a successor to ISA/TMG

11:16 PM
nice CV
"I can bust up a subnet like nobody's business."

@MathiasR.Jessen TMG 2010 I think will keep us running for a long time
> they give me three Equallogic, I get them set up, and I FUCKING SHIT MYSELF. God, I love this crap.
> -I smoke weed. I can't tolerate alcohol. I don't do blow or anything, or whatever cat pill the kids dry hump each other to nowadays. When my shit is done for the day, sometimes I will be in the same space at the same time as a lung full of smoke. It happens. I will not justify it or defend it. Seriously, don't fucking ask me to take a drug test. I am a human being, not a cow. If you hire me then decide you don't want me, then be a man and fire me. There will be no scene, I am a professional.

@MarkHenderson It will, but mainstream support ends in a year and a half :\

Wow, that's TMI right there for a job posting :P

surely you want a sysadmin high on weed every time he goes home, in case alarms go off

11:19 PM
I'm also a bit baffled by the decision to discontinue active development on TMG, but still continuing UAG

@MarkHenderson where did you find this?

@pauska Any worse than a sysadmin who goes home and gets drunk every night?

4 mins ago, by Danila Ladner
http://charlottesville.craigslist.org/res/4103554487.html#!

oh
heh

@ScottPack no, same deal really

11:21 PM
It is like my colleague, told internal recruiter of Napster to GTFO with his emails, recruiter wrote him back: "You are hired, we need people like you!" -)))

@pauska That's my thought too.

I don't care if people smoke weed, or drink.. it's same deal, if they're a sysadmin on my team they better not be high as a skyscraper when alarms go off and they're on call..

@pauska I agree.

@pauska Exactly

so much to learn about MDT

11:24 PM
I can write the best MRTG script you have probably ever seen, and greater than you could ever imagine. Ok, (as Admiral Akbar says ... "It's a Trap!") if anyone indeed does write a better MRTG script, then I have a compulsive need to talk to you.
hehe.

2.9 million credit card numbers on the loose
nice Adobe.. nice...

@pauska wow

source code also stolen

11:26 PM
cause we weren't being plagued enough of the endless amount of adobe exploits

he also knows when its a tarp

@pauska Maybe they build infrastructure like they build software

I like this quote
"We are not aware of any zero-day exploits targeting any Adobe products."

maybe it's time to migrate to foxit reader...

like... no shit you aren't aware of any 0day affecting your crap. If you were, it wouldn't be 0day anymore.

11:28 PM
@pauska: I'm pdf xchange viewer or sumatra.
foxit has gotten too bloated for my liking

I expect in the future we will see infected PDFs with multiple exploits for multiple software packages in them anyway

@FalconMomot Personally. I think it's genius on their part.
@FalconMomot It convinces everyone they're totally golden while at the same time being completely honest.

I mean, I actually think it's fine that this happened - they will get a bunch of free security auditing, if they are smart enough to find the audit results.

They need the number for VUPEN.

I think MDMarra should put to his SF desc: "I am the guy that used to make six figures making AD run like a motherfucker." -)))

11:30 PM
we use OSS and don't complain that people can read the source. why should we care about it when closed source becomes visible?

@DanilaLadner I want to work for @MDMarra for a year or two, learn some serious shit :p

you should.
-)))

@MattBear Just be careful where you choose to work. His office is his bedroom.

I really don't think I have enough knowledge/experience to be the most knowledgeable person for a medium sized company....
well, IT wise

Goddamnit. My deployment window is halfway over and the backup's not even finished yet.

11:37 PM
@ScottPack he could use a "right hand"....

@pauska He is married now. So yes, yes he could.

Just show me where to sit, where is the coffee, and give me a list of things to work on.
and shit gets done

@DanilaLadner his lap, in the next room when your done, and polishing his knob....

ever have one of those days where your just proud of yourself... straight up lol

11:40 PM
@DanilaLadner I tend to sudo bash and then just do whatever, if someone is annoying and isn't letting me su.

@FalconMomot Not even a bash -l?

Right, we do not really have sudo, i mean we do but it is only for service accounts with no shell mostly for them. I still do not know if it is a good thing or not.

it's never adequate to prevent a shell without preventing a shell from being run.

but yeah i have to su into root to check shit, and use god damn copy/paste from keepass.

@DanilaLadner If you were starting fresh it's not. As it is, it depends on who you have working and how much you trust them.

11:43 PM
so many steam deals ahhh

I've set macro keys on my keyboard (I always use gamer keyboards at work) with passwords in them.

@FalconMomot Isn't that why things like rsh exist?

@FalconMomot haha...

I think I might be in love:
Mmmmm... Yes. Yes I am...

@MattBear I have ones for things like "build the project" too, and "disable all the macros in case someone else types on this" :P

11:55 PM
@FalconMomot "Close all browser pages where subject=porn, and open browser page where subject = KBB64826494" ?

@MattBear I might, if anyone actually cared whether I was doing work at any point in time :)

@FalconMomot lol

@MattBear no one takes those jobs that are qualified for them
the people that take mid-sized admin jobs are typically either people on their way up, or burnt out neck beards protecting their castle
The 5+ year experience good people move into senior-level positions pretty fast, in my experience. Or they go to large enterprises
Never take a job you're qualified for. You'll end up bored out of your mind.
