I'm pretty sure a lot of those people are holding down two positions simply because there's no budget for filling empty ones or the existing admins have been fired/downsized. Definitely rough when places say they're actually looking for Generalists, but when you get into the interview you realize that they actually just want Architect level knowledge of just about everything.

About two months ago I get a promotion to "entry-level network administrator" ...and the job description detailed everything I did since starting.

Question: I see the technet article about upgrading to 2012. I've deployed a a couple dozen 2012 servers but always from scratch. Is the in-place upgrade from 2008 R2 standard to 2012 standard pretty painless for a VM (assuming vsphere supports it)?

yeah, saw the reports and vid. Personally it appears that the SUV driver was simply trying to not be intimidated, or was scared for him and his family. There's apparently other vids online of them doing the same thing to other cars. And supposedly their website/FB page/twitter/etc. have been disabled/deleted. Guess their mob mentality went too far.

@DanilaLadner I know you didn't ask me - but from what I hear from those who have worked there, it is a very demanding workplace, with lots of hours, and they do not do things like provide lavish workspaces for their workers.

Everyone I've ever known has burnt out within 30 months there.

One monitor, on a simple desk, in an open floor plan office, not much space.

That's generalizing, but Amazon does not seem to be a great place to work if you enjoy less than 50 hour weeks, and don't like unreasonable demands. Also internally, the word is that each team does have a lot of autonomy, but what that means is that different components of Amazon are built with different tools and have differing API standards.

So that turns into a massive nightmare if your team needs to interface with, say, five different teams' products. Each one has different wrappers, APIs, nomenclature, etc.

@Wesley They've always had a culture of spending nothing on the workplace environment. Conference room tables made out of sawhorses, a door, some rubber feet, and glass plates from Home Depot being one common meme.
