@Burgi Also moaning why is life so harrrrddd

i'm playing on easy mode...

How do I switch?

you need to go to the main menu and restart from the beginning again, I don't think the savegames are transferable

Shit
I blame my parents

I blame your parents

12:04 PM
Eww CMS

'I had the same issue with a document type, thought I'd deleted every property to try fix the problem, turns out I'd forgotten to delete a tab I'd created on this doc type that was stopping it from being deleted.

'
delete all the properties first appently o_O?!
/me has no clue what this thing is

crazy...

Yay I've figured out how to hotlink and onebox Facebook photos

click the photo so it's in the popup photo viewer
right click - copy image address, !<address>
yey you could of asked!

@djsmiley2k Huh, wow, I had no idea
@djsmiley2k Yeah but I like my streak of having never asked any questions on SU :-P

12:13 PM
it would have been flagged as off-topic

Ask on webapps

exactly ;)

Grr I need a bigger/faster/cooler SSD
But it's hard to justify spending money on frivolous things like that when I have no money
Even worse when I have worse than no money, I have negative money

@TOWMN welp that was weird.
@TOWMN Join the club
@TOWMN heh, it took me awhile to figure out in #arqade with them all laughing at my failures
doesn't help that fb occassionally just switch it up as well and that'll stop working

12:30 PM
@djsmiley2k Lol
I've used the sorta "other" trick that someone in here mentioned a while back of just putting "&.jpg" at the end of the URL to trick chat into thinking it's a .jpg extension

@Burgi Really? Like market pen? Is it absorbed or something?
@TOWMN Tried making money on the internets?

@Boris_yo Cant think of any non-immoral way of doing that that still works

@TOWMN ooo that's nice
didn't know tht :D

Originally it was explained ot me as asdf.com/basdefasdf?.jpg but if it already has a ?blah=foo then you can trick it with another &

@Boris_yo yeah it can damage the covering and lead to flaking

12:40 PM
In the old days on Facebook you could just cut off the whole ?auth=crap&token=foo stuff

@TOWMN ow

Urgh that's the second time i've looked at someone IRL in the corner of my eye and it seemed their upper torso had been censored

(since seeing that movie on Qatar where they blurred out the entire chest area to "censor" cleavage... I've been mistakenly seeing that IRL)

o.O
you might need to vary your dosage...

12:42 PM
Anyway... that aside, I suspect I'll be avoiding the middle eastern airlines for the time being seeing as half of them have been forced to ban laptops

lol

o.O

@Burgi Oh I was going to mention yesterday, I wonder how long I'll stay alive this time without my meds...
!!s/alive/out of hospital/
!!s/without my meds/without the chatbot/

sigh, media
'How did this attack get through!?'
Erm.... it didn't?

@djsmiley2k BBC? I saw the same headline earlier

12:43 PM
yup

Makes a change from Trump topping the BBC headlines but can't say I'm glad for obvious reasons

Also, yup
I'm glad it's only 8 people
That sounds bad, but it's not meant to be :/

@djsmiley2k apparently they need to magically make terrorists into turnips or something before they do things.

Better than 80, last time we had an attack in London

@djsmiley2k alas, the optimal number is 1, and its when the terrorist does the decent thing and only offs himself.
or 0. When those people don't exist, or are too incompetant to do it right

12:45 PM
I've been wanting to commit suicide by hijacking a plane and crashing it but can't think of doing that the decent way without getting anyone else invovled

@JourneymanGeek Well that's partly my point, they are incompetent (and our security services are good).

Chances are if I land the plane to let everyone else get off they'll stop me taking off again

@TOWMN Teach yourself to fly first, then hijack a plane before take off.
just instead, just don't do it at all.

@djsmiley2k Oh I know how to fly (barely). Problem is the amount of shit that's attached to modern jet aircraft before takeoff
Electrical cables, fuel pipes, wedges under the tyres, etc.
A lot of stuff that's simply impossible for a single human to operate even if they knew how to do it

12:46 PM
I can just about point a plane at a runway when it's in the air, or point it at the air if it's on a runway.

Why do you want such a spectacle anyway

Detaching the passenger airstairs?
Dunno how to do that. Although last I checked the machine was operated with like one joystick, so it can't be that hard

if you start moving, I'm sure something will happen XD

@djsmiley2k TWSS!

12:48 PM
@djsmiley2k Because I want to fly a plaaaaneeeee!!!!

are people just downvoting instead of flagging as spam or something o_O?
@TOWMN you can do that without dying
nd it's a lot easier.

And if I hijacked a plane and lived to tell about it, I'd probably end up in jail for the rest ofm y life anyway
@djsmiley2k I tend to do both

lol
@djsmiley2k you could flag it

@TOWMN Design and sell tshirts, resell products... Moral?
YouTube channel... Are you good at presenting? Udemy.

he can't do that, everyone will know he isn't actually a cat then

1:02 PM
@Mokubai I was bored enough to do all the work behind this. I still think it was fun

But Samsung 850 EVO for $69 on Black Friday and resell to @bwDraco

Immoral?
Buy Audio Technica headphones for $99, sell to @JourneymanGeek for $199. Immoral?

I wouldn't buy it off you.

:D
Would you buy it from Bob?

@Boris_yo you need to add a "reduced from $300" sticker then he'd buy it! ;)

1:09 PM
Of course you wouldn't. Why do that when you can buy from Audio Technica themselves?
@Burgi Oh... That MSRP... He is savvy enough to not fall for it, despite MSRP may be the true price in a perfect world.

I think this hostel uses bonded ADSL lines
Yup. Definitely bonded ADSL lines.

Let me explain. People want cheap, employees get paid less and forced to do more. More competitors enter industry. All this leads to less margins and employee cuts, ultimately leading to everyone's doom. Yet nobody gives this a thought. Everybody only cares for themselves. What kind of "bright" future this leads us to?

@JourneymanGeek I did.

So in perfect world there is MSRP where everyone gets paid well, thus can spend more without being cheap.

@Boris_yo Yes but nobody wants to watch me present mobile transmitter photos
@Boris_yo I suppose I could use my >60kg free luggage allowance to keep importing things into Australia that cost way more over there than here

1:15 PM
I buy MSRP. People think I am a crazy sucker. I tell them I am not. It's just that I care for others and bright future of our planet.
*kidding...
1 in 7 billion... Yeah. Be the change you WISH to see...

@Boris_yo We know you are.
@Boris_yo I actually ordered (part) of my headphones directly from the russians ;p

NOOO

then it came crushed and they had to mail me a new one ;p

Don't support ZE RUSSIANS
ZE RUSSIANS FUND TERRORISM

@JourneymanGeek On what website?

1:17 PM
@TOWMN BUT SOUNDSKI! IS GOODSKI COMRADE! DO YOU NOT HEAR THE MUSIC OF THE GLORIOUS UNION OF THE PEOPLES?

@TOWMN Udemy has course for international importers.

They seem to be out of stock on spares tho

@TOWMN But unless you have money to invest, I recommend to hold off.
@JourneymanGeek They are a brand...

@Boris_yo and?

@Boris_yo Can I invest my body
Or use it as money?

1:22 PM

Ohhhh I think Steam obeys Windows' "Metered connection" settings and blocks steam sync on it

hm
I think I broke my ttrss server

ah. never mind. Its now broken differently
that's all

yey

brilliant... yet another "rushed" deployment has resulted in a broken site

1:59 PM
hm.
My synapse install is broken
but that's fine. I was going to reinstall it anyway, and all I really needed were the certs

@Burgi are you getting blamed?
so the answer says it can't be done, but is written badly.. :/
DV I guess..
oh ffs
was a test :D

dhl logic: "hey it's fragile, let's put 2mm of foam with tape all around the box to hide the label, and throw it as hard as we can."

sounds like shipping anywhere
I have one courier who thew SSDs into my house through the grill...
and made an effort to deliver a 2 dollar cable properly.

@djsmiley2k yes

2:09 PM
Ow :(

urgh, spam, maybe? ? ? ? ? ?
in windows 10 is it not as easy as it was to spoof a mac ?

Last time I tried it, it worked the same as on previous versions

you do it in the hardware properties?

Yep, or the Registry if Device Manager doesn't show that option
Weirdly, plenty of network cards that don't show that option in the GUI work perfectly fine with the alternate MAC if you Registry-whack it into place

people have issues
I didnt remember I asked this many questions on stack exchange haha
but I thought it was over when 2 of my questions had "thanks" removewd
but no there's more. I login today and now 5 more questions scavenged
I should delete my meta post
thats attracting these people with a vision

the photos here are potato quality

I see you've noticed, will I be expecting a HQ camera my next birthday sent from JoG from singapore? <3

Nope
You could buy yourself a fresher potato.
also, I think the main issue is you're too close and your lighting is insufficient

Those photos look like they are UFOs. Can you really not get better pictures? — Burgi 10 secs ago

maybe
my camera sucks I have to focus on objects in the background to get the foreground look sharp
ohhh
so burgi is the one who -1'ed 5 months ago because I used a stinky potato
just coming clean now huh? :D

2:40 PM
no i didn't
please stop accusing me of DVing you without any evidence

Im just doing it cause someone else accidently accused you yesterday right? lol

Bob
@JourneymanGeek it does turn out to be a nice amorphous blob though

Paul Calder Le Roux (born December 24, 1972 in Bulawayo, Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe) is a former programmer, former criminal cartel boss and informant to the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He created E4M, an open-source free Windows disk encryption software program, in 1999, and is a suspected creator of the open-source TrueCrypt, which is based on E4M's code. Le Roux is currently in US custody for ordering the assassinations of six people. == Early life == Le Roux was born on December 24, 1972 at Lady Rodwell Maternity Home in Bulawayo and given up for adoption. His birth certificate gives...
What a life that guy has had

that might actually explain why truecrypt was shut dfown

Original author of TrueCrypt, then Heisenberg (a la Breaking Bad)
lol that's just the tip of the iceberg; read his long history of atrocities

2:43 PM
A true criminal mastermind?

Bob
@allquixotic yea I was like... ok, not much info on truecrypt... *scrolling*... *more scrolling*... wow

... please dont verbose your life in the root access chat unless you are CuE
okay bye everyone have a lovely thing

Cue?
CuTe...?

2:57 PM
@djsmiley2k i think he thinks he is a stick for pushing coloured balls around a green table

Bob
@JourneymanGeek lol, I'm in a similar situation now
also some more plugs and crimper arrived

@Bob that's why I linked it

Bob
turns out my old crimper works well with some of the plugs and the new one with rest
old one would break the jacket clamp on most plugs :/

heh. Apparently my read on the langauage issue is incorrect. Seems @BenN dug up some pretty official MSE posts. Blah ;p

are we allowed to fudging swear?

3:01 PM
apparently not

A: Are expletives (cursing, swear words or vulgar language) allowed on SE sites?

Jeff AtwoodNo. Expletives are not acceptable behavior on any Stack Exchange site, even on Meta. There are a very small handful of exceptions (such as if you were talking about the word itself on a language site), but in general you should not use expletives anywhere, under any circumstances. If you can't e...

since when?

this has utterly no wiggle room

@djsmiley2k abbreviating his name I suppose

3:03 PM
@Burgi I've been trying to convince a kitten to take an interest D:

@Burgi dang. I told that to causing overflows when he tried to pick up a user here ;p
its been quite a while

@JourneymanGeek Hehe, "relevant MSE" has become another of my catchphrases

@Burgi this is totally not a slippery slope I support going down

Bob
@JourneymanGeek could've sworn there used to be more answers

@Bob remind me when I get to 10k ;p

3:05 PM
Yes, I'm pretty sure they were and were probably torched

Bob
the atwood one used to be downvoted too
@JourneymanGeek you'd think so, but there's no precise definition of expletive either
we've been going down the euphemism treadmill for a while now

@Bob I fundamentally disagree that usage of <female dog> is offensive, but I don't feel <donkeyed> enough to argue
and my main issue was the seeming roboflags, and I can deal with that in another way

Ooh Origin lets me play Ass Effect before it's released and before it's even downloaded!

!!/flagged

You can start playing at 42% downloaded apparently. I dunno how good the experience will be if it starts pausing to download when it would need to load.

!!/alive

4:18 PM
Perhaps it'll feel like back in the old days of 5+ minutes to load a level from crappy old hard drives...
Then again I've seen reviewers say the game takes 60+ hours to even get halfway through, which would be ample time to finish downloading the rest before I get to 42% way
IB4TPF
Also I only get to play 10 hours free trial anyway, before I have to wait 3-18 months before I can play the rest for free >_>

4:32 PM
bye folks

@PaulVargas I IS MAEKIN STATEMENT

@DavidPostill Smokey doesn't listen in these rooms though does it?

@M.A.R. He's trying to test our local bot, ChatBot John Cavil
It appears to be toast at the moment

I like toast.

fracking cylon

ooooo there's a powershell question

@M.A.R. What @BenN said

omg I just had a thought
remember a few weeks ago I said Google popped up a thing indicating they were interested, then it went away?
I think that was a test, and I should've used Inspect Element in Chrome to find the content and unhide it or find a link to click

anyone on VM in the UK?
the virgin media status page is offline...

6:14 PM
@Burgi Page itself is working here, just used a nearby postcode

its just come back for me
my parents have no internet
they could just be being weird

Have they tried turning it off and on again?

i told them that
i'll see when I get home
also i've been offered a job at 40K but with a start up...
probably give it a miss

@Burgi That's always a gamble. Will they have money to pay you?

exactly
plus i don't think i'm worth 40K
it would be nice to be in a full dev team again

6:28 PM
@Burgi That might be the imposter syndrome
Impostor syndrome (also known as impostor phenomenon or fraud syndrome) is a concept describing high-achieving individuals who are marked by an inability to internalize their accomplishments and a persistent fear of being exposed as a "fraud". The term was coined in 1978 by clinical psychologists Pauline R. Clance and Suzanne A. Imes. Despite external evidence of their competence, those exhibiting the syndrome remain convinced that they are frauds and do not deserve the success they have achieved. Proof of success is dismissed as luck, timing, or as a result of deceiving others into thinking they...

Folks, would this question be on-topic for SuperUser? It's getting closed as off-topic for EE.SE .

Q: Wifi Connection in Subway

wigioptionsDo you have any information related that possibility of Wifi Internet connection during subway is moving from one station to another? In Turkiye this service is not available at the moment. I heard about in some cities on London and Tokyo, this service is available however I am not sure how this ...

@NickAlexeev That just sounds like crap, which, according to the golden rule of migrations, shouldn't be migrated

@NickAlexeev While "Wifi" would be on-topic, "how do you do Wifi in a subway system?" is more of a large scale installation rather than a home network. How they do it would be far too in-depth and the question is pretty much awful.

@Mokubai Hi. What are you doing here all alone? Enjoying the room decoration? ;)

@FleetCommand Remembering the old days...

user226528
@Mokubai Can you please take a look at this and give me a second opinion? superuser.com/questions/874188/…

user226528
Thanks in advance

Back when I was young...
@FleetCommand Anything specific about it?

user226528
Yes. But I don't want to lead you or impact your judgment.

7:20 PM
Gimme 5, eating.

user226528
So, if you think everything is alright, I take that as the coveted second opinion for which I am here.

user226528
Hmmm... I could eat. Make it 10.

you downvoted it for needing tar software?
after they specifally say'any other software or tricks' ?

@FleetCommand The accepted answer is better, but using tar is an interesting option. Not great as you end up with the files in a container, but you do end up with the files in whatever order you like. Turn off error checking on the extraction of that container and it's not too far from what is wanted anyway. The PAR2 files would be self-error checking and would also error check the main data. It ends up quite similar in effect, but no multisession disk.

user226528
@djsmiley2k I didn't downvote it

@NickAlexeev i'd say travel.SE but it is a terrible question

@Mokubai Maybe I should try Networking.SE . Maybe they can do something with this question.

@djsmiley2k I'd trust these over any HDD, tape or SSD

> While the exact properties of M-DISC are a 'trade secret'
magic fairy dust discs!

@bertieb that third-parties have tested! the secret to not losing your data appears to be, store them in lower than 90 Celsius conditions. So if your basement / CD collection area tends to run temperatures near the boiling point of water, you're hosed.
Otherwise, if you're a normal person and would never subject them to more than, say, worst case, 50 Celsius, you're probably fine

@FleetCommand Now TOWMN is back home they don't need a bot to watch the room in their absence ;p

@DavidPostill Why do they need a bot? we have the transcript for reading history...

@Mokubai (shrug)

9:15 PM
@Mokubai after you travel half way around the world because 'prices went up for one night' you can find an excuse for everything

9:29 PM
welp, that's the first post review queue anniliated
well done everyone \o/

Yay!

9:59 PM
I'm still curious where the "282 total posts awaiting review" comes from. Looking at the individual queues:
Late answers 0
Close votes 22
etc
doesn't add up to 282

The number in the top bar is the total reviews pending for everyone
The /review page shows the number of tasks accessible to you (i.e. ones you haven't already voted on)

@BenN Ah. So we can get it down to zero soon :)
That makes sense.

@allquixotic ?
