No, that's from a different website.
But they think I'm using IE9.
which I'm not.

10:11 PM
@MichaelFrank: "And below"

Ahh o
Bah so frustrated
I think I know the command I need to run but the recovery console is limited. I need to provide an offline source for DISM but have to do a cleanup-image but its not allowing me to run the command because of a syntax error
( its also telling me its not a valid argument ) which is confusing since I got it from a msdn website

@JourneymanGeek shhhh >.>

mmmm.... WinPE knows about my installation even if I boot from an installation disk, but I can't seem to get the Command Prompt to accept the command :$

10:41 PM
so frustrating
I can't seem to get the command prompt to allow me to use a windows installation sources directory :$
as the source for a dism command which I need to run in order to revert the pending actions
so I can run sfc /scannow
i really hope windows isn't going to force me to do a refresh :$ that would make me really sad

Hello, is anybody here familiar with the task scheduler?
(On windows)

@jliv902 What do you need?

schtasks /query shows my tasks but the Task Scheduler does not show them.

You haven't changed the computername/accountname have you?

No, no changes like that have occurred.

10:52 PM
Does it just not show them, or is there an error displayed?

The Task Scheduler just does not show them.
schtasks /query shows the status for both as Could not start. I'd like to open them in the Task Scheduler and edit their settings.

They have an XML file here \windows\system32\tasks. You could manually edit them, or check that they have the correct computername\username associated with them.
Have you checked Task Scheduler > View > Show Hidden Tasks ?

I have Show Hidden Tasks checked.
I'm looking at the XML files in the path you told me about.

@Bob - the crash in question does not generate a mini-dump due to the nature of the crash, its a kernel protection, i know enough i need to use the recovery console's command prompt to use dism but can't figure out how :$

@Ramhound F8 ?

11:01 PM
The XML files seem to be okay. >> <Enabled>true</Enabled>
<Hidden>false</Hidden>
I think I'll ask a question on here about this issue tomorrow. I didn't see any duplicates and it seems on-topic.

Yea, most of the time a task missing from the GUI is due to the creating computer/account being different from the current. Normally that would give you a permissions error however...
@jliv902 Here's another possible explanation from a TechNet article
> Had very similar experience recently.... created a task, went back into task manager and couldn't find a trace of it, after some experimenting I found the following;

> If you create a task while the "Task scheduler (local)" node is selected / highlighted in the left navigation, it appears that the task will disappear into a black hole.

> If instead you make sure you select/highlight the "Task Scheduler Library" node, and then create the task, it will show up and be stored in C:\Windows\System32\Tasks and stick.

@MichaelFrank if u mean WinRE yes

@MichaelFrank But both tasks have xml files in the C:\Windows\System32\Tasks folder.

@jliv902 Hmm... true.
Maybe just remove them from the folder and then user Import Task... to add them again.

That might work. I'll try that tomorrow and see how things go.
@MichaelFrank Thank you for your suggestions.

11:09 PM
No worries, hope you get your issue sorted.

Man, I just fired up blood dragon. The nostalgia is overwhelming. Pixelly cutscenes and a barrel of cliches!

A: Redirect ALL web traffic through TLS without a VPN

ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪI figured it out. :D This solution satisfies all of my requirements and meets all of my goals, perfectly. Performance isn't too bad, either, considering the level of indirection that is necessary to achieve this. The general approach is thus: Set up a local Certificate Authority (CA), and gene...

@Bob @JourneymanGeek ^^ :D

You gonna bounty yourself? :P

@MichaelFrank you can't. can you?!
I mean... literally, the timeline was this:
think of question
research research research
have no idea D:
ask
tumbleweeds
place bounty
get a few pokes but nothing decisive
get a few answers but nothing very effective or applicable (people fail at reading)
find THE AWESOME solution
would be great if I could get the rep back, or at least half, but AFAIK bounty rep is permanently gone when you place it

11:25 PM
What about if you self accept?

lol
you can't

I thought you could, but you just had to wait a couple days?
> You can also accept your own answer, but you must wait 48 hours to do so. After all, someone else may come along with an even better solution to your problem!

11:48 PM
now I just have to set up a Google Cloud Engine template or something so I can hop around from server to server as they whack-a-mole my box... X_X

@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ say what?

@MichaelFrank oh, you know they'll do it eventually
"hmm, what are all these connections to this box?"
*block*

@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ who's "they"?

THE ENEMY!
also known as network administrators
also known as people preventing me from getting my work done

11:54 PM

There we go.

@JourneymanGeek I love it

(and for once, I didn't think of a suitable xkcd)
