A better one would be Ms. Doubtfire :-)
I can't seem to find a guide on how to use the command prompt within WinRE ( its so frustrating )

I wonder if its worth editing this question to fit the SU format so someone can answer "No, you can't"

Q: Free burner to use to format a CD-RW disc for the FAT system on Vista

user356230Is there a free burner that can be downloaded to use to format a CD-RW disc for the FAT system on Vista? Thank you from Mr Berwyn H Price (I live in Scotland)

fudge
just found out you can't do an in-place upgrade by booting to an installation disk
which sucks

at least tell Berwie that it canna work, Cap'n

because I can't figure out how to use dism to repair my installation

12:18 AM
@Ramhound The issue here is that the quote is by an actual author named John Keating. They also got the movie title wrong.

Oh I though RW said that as a character, not familiar with the book, lol, yes I am lame

I'm not sure if I can fix the question

@Ramhound He did, I was wrong about their being a real JK. But the movie is still wrong. :P

The movie is based off actual people, vaguely.
...
no, I confused it with somethingelse

Anyone know if I can take a working Windows 8.1 installation to create a Wim image?
Or will that not do what I want?

12:37 AM
grumbles
I should be more used to rebuilding my fileserver by now.

Wondering if a could convert my physical machine to a virtual machine then repair that then restore an image of the virtual machine hmmm
I refuse to believe I can't repair my installation :-(

@Ramhound: might work, assuming you don't accidentally de-activate your windows install

A new key would be a cheap cost, but not worried, still can't seem to navigate my drive via cmd within winre...only x:

there's a command that lists all mounted drives...
I VAGUELY recall you may need to mount them manually as well
diskpart is probably your friend
system-imaging.blogspot.sg this has me a bit annoyed, since I kinda liked remastersys, and the new devs were pissed at the remastersys guy for doing pretty much the same thing

Lol it's capital sensitive
C:!= to c:
Whoop one step c loser!!!

12:54 AM
bleh
I forgot this system was 'only' 250mb
I should probably hit it with clonezilla, and restore it to a VM instead.

Fudge; can't figure out how to use a source for dism other than /online
Can't figure out the path to image; wish they made that clear in their example using /online :-(

1:25 AM
Can't remember the command to create a directory in the command prompt..

mkdir ?

Crude going to have to capture an image then repair that...
I can't seem to target my operating system otherwise
Since /online does that which means the Windows PE not my actual installation...
Anyone have any ideas?

1:48 AM
Anyone know how to target an offline installation of Windows that isn't necessarily an wim image?

sorry, I don't know anything about offline installations of Windows, I always install it interactively.

Well trying to use dism from within winpe but /online targets the current installation and I don't have a "image" per say
I think I should be able to use WinSxS instead of trying to "repair"
nstall.wim after mounting it. Just can't find an example :-(

2:30 AM
I give up for the night going to try mounting my backup image and from within Windows scan the mounted acronis image :$

2:53 AM
> Eventually it was concluded that the EMH Mark I was defective, and they were bounced out of the medical corps. While an ashamed Dr. Zimmerman tried to have them decommissioned, Starfleet reassigned them to scrub plasma conduits on waste transfer barges. Later the Mark I's were also deployed in other menial tasks, like dilithium mining.
How does a hologram physically interact with anything? o.O

3:28 AM
@MichaelFrank: "Magnetic containment fields allowed the EMH to interact with physical objects. These force fields moved as the EMH moved to create the appearance of solid matter. The containment fields could be shut off, allowing objects and people to pass through them – an EMH's cohesion could range from solid to intangible. "

@JourneymanGeek being able to control baryonic matter with such precision should make Starfleet close to omnipotent, yet there are tons of things they can't do
I love Star Trek (all of it) but there are tons of inconsistencies, so I try not to think about them

3:59 AM
@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ: meh, I don't expect hard sci fi most of the time anyway

4:54 AM
heh.. remotely supporting a user via RDP and they've got this sticky note on their desktop that says:

> bittorrent
> torrentz.com

5:50 AM

11 hours to backup a (fairly full) 250gb hdd to my 1tb drive
and I have no idea if clonezilla handles a FAT32 destination drive gracefully
Maybe I should just use smb instead, I do have sort of gig-e

6:07 AM
ugh. NOW its just messing with me

@JourneymanGeek sort of? :P

@MichaelFrank: I've got a PCIe gig-e card. and atom processor
So, in most applications I'm processor limited
I do intend to install a second HDD so I'll clear it out, backup there, and grab the files off the new install or a livecd

7:10 AM

19 hours disk to disk?
!!no

bleh, all the other options suck too
.... maybe not
I could install ubuntu server to the second hard drive, migrate over then mount the second hard drive

Bob
@JourneymanGeek ?

@Bob: was considering imaging my old home server backup pre wipe
but its slooooow
....
quack
I did just backup everything that was there manually.
Why the heck am I imaging?

Bob
@JourneymanGeek slow drive, or slow imaging program?
another advantage of dd is speed, since it's completely sequential :P

7:20 AM
slow system, period.
BUT I don't need to backup 100gb of music, and 70 gb of other files.

7:40 AM
start backup go-to-bed , wake up 1/2 done problem solved.

2 hours later…
9:42 AM
I have a pretty crazy question
Is there a way to look at the website even though the firewall or other software is blocking me to see the website
It is www.quora.com
and I get this message -
Access declined

you could probably proxy it through translate.google.com

I am in the library

But bypassing a web filter is generally against the TOS you agreed to by connecting to their network.

Funny thing is that porn websites are not blocked
I do not understand why they block Quora
Most probably because people who go to Quora are addicted to it, so they stay in the library until it closes
;-)
How can I proxy it via translate.google.com?
What is the address for a site where I put the URL and it will translate the website for me - that one from Google...

Do you realise how ironic it is that you're trying to find a way into a website that claims to be "your best source for knowledge" from a library?
3

9:55 AM
They don't have any good books in this library
;-)

I find that extremely hard to believe.

Ok, I will try to find a book

Enjoy!

Not a single book about Machine Learning in this library
I told you
;-)

2 hours later…
12:00 PM
ok. Backed up the old system, with clonezilla copied the backup files to a vhd , added the vhd to a VM... only to find out I need a clonezilla iso to do a restore.
oops.
also, VHDs in windows are awesome

12:20 PM
@JourneymanGeek every time someone mentions VHDs it makes me think of this now-defunct product: farstone.com/software/virtual-hard-drive.htm

found the manual
it was an early ramdisk program

12:33 PM
right. Data backed up and safe in case I need it. Now, I need to work out what to install instead ;p

12:46 PM
@jokerdino Don't have much time to kanban, I'm designing a website for some festivity at my college.
I have a week, panic time !

ooh, there's a new machinae suprimacy album coming out

Ooh, this is from Adobe brackets.io/?lang=en

1:10 PM
Is there a difference between choosing relevant program when heating food in microwave or just general heating?
AC-2 Soup (where I choose based on weight) OR general heating for 2 minutes?

1:24 PM
@HackToHell all's cool man. Did you commit the latest changes though?

1:55 PM
@HackToHell Use a pre-made HTML template or CMS theme :P

Q: Why stackexchange.com promotes sexual perversion?

begueradjI was interested to read this blog. Everything was right, but further in the bottom of the page, I saw a shocking image that I feel shame to describe. Look to where the camera focuses on that picture.Where is the interest for stackexchange.com to promote perversion and pornography ?

the guy claims to be from Numidia:
Numidia (202 BC – 46 BC) was an Ancient Libyan kingdom in what is now Algeria and a smaller part of western Tunisia, in North Africa. Numidia was originally divided between Massylii in the east and Masaesyli in the west. During the Second Punic War (218-201 BC), Massinissa, king of the Massylii, defeated Syphax of the Masaesyli to unify Numidia into one kingdom. The kingdom began as a sovereign state and later alternated between being a Roman province and being a Roman client state. It was bordered by the kingdoms of Mauretania (modern-day Morocco) to the west, the Roman province of Africa (modern...
and I thought the eastern US was socially conservative about women! O_O
@Oded if stackexchange claims it is international and the best one then it must respect my culture — begueradj 24 secs ago
!!no

2:12 PM
@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ: That is clearly trolling

@ThatBrazilianGuy Tempted to :D
@JourneymanGeek Awesome !

also, that clearly does not have enough downvotes

@JourneymanGeek it's not trolling; he is being honest
he's from Numidia -- African culture is all messed up
no wonder they have severe population problems... they're so sexually repressive that when they see some they can't help but hit it ;p

@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ: er... his security.se profile says somewhere in finland I think

2:17 PM
@hack, I use a bunch like git, folding and stuff

@jokerdino I think so.

ok good~

@jokerdino Folding, what's that for ?

code-folding?

I see.
I suppose it will be useful with HTML

2:19 PM
@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ: I'm not feeling very mean today, else I'd leave a present in his shoes link that on the comms room

@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ I think he has a real point there, the camera seems to be focusing on the background, thats just wrong. it should be centered on the sign instead, the point of the blog post, and zoomed up much further.

@HackToHell never tried code folding? O_o

@jokerdino Uhm no ? I am a noob ^_^

@HackToHell If you don't have very specific requirements, it is indeed quite possible that it could fit a generic template. And it would save you lots and lots of time

@JourneymanGeek I'm going to :D

2:22 PM
@HackToHell you know that thing that collapses functions, etc?

@jokerdino I know
But I don't see the use of it.
@ThatBrazilianGuy yeah probably
I am going to add crazy transitions and stuff to it :P

In ur IDE
collapsn ur funkshins

@JourneymanGeek You are clearly correct

@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ :/

Dirty mind picture test

2:27 PM
dude please. that's a revealing arm pit.

why's that chick holding a bullet?

Chick's fired!

That's not an eye liner?

Bob
@Psycogeek I... what's this supposed to mean?

How would I know? I'm a dog.

Bob
2:28 PM
Looks like a stock photo.
Then again, there's lots of crazy stock photos.
"hacker"

Bob, are you missing the point?

ROFL @Psycogeek
nice test. I failed ;-)

Bob
@jokerdino Perhaps?
...I guess I passed that test.
No idea what's supposed to be "wrong" there.

the armpit looks like a bare arse.

2:31 PM
That arm pit doubles up as something else.

@Bob optical illusion :P

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Nup. She'd have to be rather short for that to fit in.

(of course, being dyslexic, I saw both possibilities, right after I mistook the bottle for a bullet)

don't look at it too hard or you'll see it for what it really is; if you let your caveman brain do the thinking, it'll find it instantly
or at least mine did

Bob
@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ For some reason, I completely ignored the person in the background.

2:32 PM
as I said, Perversity is entirely in the mind.
;p

just the mind?

Well, what else do you need?
Its heavily a matter of how you interpret the world around you in cases like this

I don't know.

@jokerdino Of course you don't, silly. :) You're just a young boy, looking for a way to find love... *chord, chord*. </paulMcCartneyFlamingPieAlbum>

Was eating Cheerios and found maggot bound to 1 Cheerio. If there's expiry date, where's manufacture date?
I only see expiry date, unless I need to go back to the future™

2:45 PM
@Boris_yo as long as it's before the expiry date, you should be able to return it for a refund

@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ Will go throwing up then...
Things I do for refunds...

Hey there, does anyone know how can I know from what router my packet was sniffed in wireshark?
its a wireless sniffing issue

Bob
@MostafaShahverdy ...that sentence really doesn't parse
could you try rephrasing it?

Sorry for my bad english
I am sniffing more than one wireless routers at the same time

Bob
@MostafaShahverdy oh, it's not something you need to apologise for, but I just don't really understand what you were asking.

2:48 PM
I have a lot of packets in my wireshark

ok, now it is clearer

Bob
aha, the context helps

I need to filter packets so that I can only see packets from one router

Bob
hm... are these routers on different interfaces?
if so, you can probably look at the MAC address

No, they are in the same interface
its a wireless sensor network

2:49 PM
@jokerdino and the "most downvoted question ever on MSU" goes to...that guy.

Bob
source MAC?
@MostafaShahverdy your best bet is to look at which fields differ between packets

Just let me check the mac addresses
:)

Bob
how are they connected to the computer?

Its an emulated network
but
they are all connected to one interface named tun0
I can sniff tun0

@tombull89: unless he self deletes

2:53 PM
@JourneymanGeek Last night it changed in tracking from "received" to "dispatched to overseas", so things are happening. :) We'll see when it shows up in USPS tracking.

Bob
@tombull89 he beat EC

@JourneymanGeek Fun thing is I still can't really use it until the Lumia Cyan update gets pushed out for my phone, and AT&T still has it in holding with "Testing". Better happen soon!

Bob
It doesn't even appear on the list! meta.superuser.com/questions?page=194&sort=votes

@bob It seems that have to recompile my program, just give me a few minuted to solve my problem, I will come back soon
thanks

@BenRichards the US carriers spend way too much time dithering around with the production-grade builds handed to them by the manufacturers. :(
some of that is the FCC, too, I think.

2:55 PM
@BenRichards: >_>
refresh my memory, which? ;p
OH

:P
They've got lots of issues. A selling point was its waterproofing and a not insignificant number of them have defective water seals, apparently.
But it's a v1 project so yeah :P

@BenRichards: risks of being an early adopter

@JourneymanGeek I know :P
It's got potential. I hope they stick around long enough to become as trusted as the Pebble.

I like the formfactor

And as polished.

2:57 PM
looks kinda chunky tho

nods
It's actually not that bad, apparently, compared with other smartwatches, according to those who've seen and held it

lol
true

The actual device is removable and can be put on a lanyard or belt clip instead

I loved the hardware of the Droid Maxx -- much more than the physical design of the Galaxy S5, except that the latter is waterproof -- kinda hoping I can hop ship to Motorola one more time around Christmas time before Lenovo ruins their build quality

(I can't remember the last time I wore a watch tho)

2:59 PM
if they only ship their next phone with a Snapdragon S4 or 800, I'm going to throw things like Darth Vader in Empire Strikes Back, though

I'd not try dunking it in water, but I've put my Nokia under a light stream of water to clean the glass before. If I avoid the mic/speaker holes, it's just fine.

for as much time as they've taken, it should be a friggen, Snapdragon 810

@JourneymanGeek I like watches. It's wearable technology. What's not to love? :P

Bob
@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ s/Motorola/Lotorola/
