Okay thanks !!/report is the command.. I'll jot that down somewhere
Jan 15 09:49
Thanks, how do I "manually report" spam?
Dec 3, 2024 06:08
It's kind of annoying that it's been there for so long.
Dec 3, 2024 06:07
@cocomac Yeah, I'm not familiar with what to do here. The post is just irrelevant to anything. In any case, it seems to have enough downvotes to have dropped off the front page.

Could this one get some flags please? genai.stackexchange.com/questions/2155/waa-maxay-noloshu

Hi (:
Oct 31, 2022 14:46
@JeffSchaller The custom close reasons at Chinese.SE are basically broken. Everyone basically ignores the "resource requests are off-topic" close reason. I've been trying since I have been elected to fix this, but sadly I haven't gotten much support.
Oct 31, 2022 14:28
It's a rather sporadic case, I've never seen anything like it before
Oct 31, 2022 14:27
I'm just a bit worried that liubobo1996‭'s future posts might end up in the same boat
Oct 31, 2022 14:25
I guess they took a screenshot of the English version of the site.
Oct 31, 2022 14:22
@SmokeDetector Hi, I'm a mod at Chinese.SE and I don't think liubobo1996‭ is a spammer. The question asked for a database of organism names which was given in the answer. The answer admittedly looks like spam, so ended up triply spam-flagged, after which the author deleted it.

Here's a better link: replicate.com/explore

It seems like it's changed since last I checked
Jul 31, 2023 10:26
I remember pollinations having all sorts of things replicate.com/pollinations

(Is it off-topic?)
Jul 29, 2023 00:35
Yeah, I'm fairly sure we could just ask nicely for an election when we're ready. My impression is that Stack Exchange would prefer us to do the diamond work, but maybe after the scope is clearer. I feel confident we could have a successful election. (I'm about to move house, which may affect my decisions as to whether or not to participate in an election.)

@HenryWHHackv3.0 On Teams, I mentioned that it'd probably be best to have CMs do the moderation initially because of the experimental launch method (I kept encountering "surprises")... but has 6 months been decided? I don't recall reading that. I suggested something like "until we're in on more familiar ground".
Jul 27, 2023 00:38
If people are independently making the same suggestions... it's a strong indication it's a good idea.
Jul 26, 2023 23:54
@SirBenet I'm curious if you saw SPArcheon's comment, or if you're both independently suggesting the same name change? meta.stackexchange.com/questions/391614/…
Jul 26, 2023 23:53
Could it be confused with "general AI"? It's not something I've thought above.
Jul 26, 2023 23:53
It was renamed because "Prompt Design" was not a good choice of name.
Jul 26, 2023 09:21
I propose changing the chat room's name to "As an AI language model..." for fun. (: [Until someone thinks up a better name.]
Jul 26, 2023 09:06
Huh, there's also this chat room

When taking diamond-hammer actions like delete/close/suspend etc., we need to be pretty certain we don't accidentally do this to the wrong person.
Oct 13, 2022 08:31
@dROOOze: Ah, I wish you were a mod (next election, perhaps?) so I could explain that situation in more detail.

I encountered this in my textbook (道德和法治). It's a version of 學習 = "to study". I'm kind of curious as to what they're after in terms of an answer.

I'm not sure precisely what "5 in ap chinese" means, but congratulations (:

@OlleLinge We could ask to unpin accepted answers, but that would introduce the reverse problem where the most upvoted answer is at the top, whether or not it is good.

How is everyone? I've been busy studying like mad recently.

Wow, time has just flown by... hahahaha

Jul 27, 2022 15:08
Ah right, so there's still a lot of time.
Jul 27, 2022 12:34
There doesn't seem to be others raising their hand for moderation.
Jul 27, 2022 12:33
@Tsundoku @Tsundoku I don't think your message ended up in my inbox at the time (oh, it looks like it's because you @-pinged my Chinese.SE username).
Jul 15, 2021 22:17
Alright, I just nominated myself. (: We'll see how it goes.
Jul 15, 2021 13:30
Ah right, because it's a beta site (:
Jul 15, 2021 10:23
Oh right, it's still a beta site (: Oops

Please do not argue in comments (and especially don't attack one another---please flag these comments for moderator attention). My experience is that if someone doesn't "get it" after 1 comment, they're definitely not going to "get it" after 10. Just move on.

@Mitch Ah, it's got an answer now (chinese.stackexchange.com/a/51564/8099), so it shouldn't be migrated. I was anticipating something like this.
Jun 21, 2022 05:45
It's tricky, because it requires some knowledge of Chinese stationery, and history. And I'm not really interested in every meaning of the words "stamp", "seal" and "chop", just the ones relating to the Chinese-style stamp.
Jun 21, 2022 05:43
@tchrist: I asked this question at Chinese.SE chinese.stackexchange.com/q/51557, but users there are thinking it's better at English.SE. Think I should migrate it?

May 18, 2022 15:58
Hmm... the title edit was made in August 2014 (8 years ago!), about 2 years before this answer was written (June 2016).

The paper linked on the Wikipedia page lists multiple reasons for spelling tests unrelated to improving reading and writing, including nostalgia, government requirements (in order to benchmark schools), and ease of marking (clear right vs. wrong answers).
Dec 4, 2021 22:56
I'm also a bit iffy about the "clearly" part---it feels like a possible non-sequitur. It's not clear to me spelling tests are aimed at improving reading and writing. It could just be e.g. part of US culture and tradition.
