@EddieKal CSV as such is a plain text file but you probably find it easier to look into on spreadsheet software. I did manual count on LibreOffice (Excel is notorious for guessing encoding wrong) because the number is limited, but you can edit the CSV to extract the first word in 後文脈 and do some statistics.

@EddieKal according to the author, 普通の場合 and 特別な場合 are rephrasing of "unmarked" and "marked" respectively. They don't further affect the option, just tell if the branch is on the normal side or not compared with the other.

When everything in Japanese grammar is systematically explained, it'd be more clear that English and Japanese are just using whole different toolsets to describe the same reality.

It's perhaps true that less grammatical concepts in Japanese are given names than those in English (or more accurately in terms of science history, Latin). Person, gender, number and those things are classic, but animacy, evidentiality, topic, noun class and such are only "discovered" in the last 100 yrs. I faintly remember the distinction like between ～たい and ～たがる in Japanese recently got a novel name in whatever paper, while much more are still taught as "Japanese exception to basic rules".

@mbrig An interesting statement... voca.ro/1ddtowa0Ws6B This is a voice synth output of Suzuki-kun for kappa, happa, akka, kakka. Do you still hear "cat" sound in "kappa"? If so, do all four words sound like that or only some of them?

@mbrig Thank you for your input too. How do you exactly hear the vowel of か? Because in that video, he mentions three type of "あ": cat, mother, and father; and I think it's typically the second one that I should transcribe into. Also for m "bahm", I'm very sure it's just closing lips at the end of a phrase, some Japanese speakers commonly do.

@Will Thank you for your input. There is certainly a difficulty transcribing the last ん which almost sounds like a nasal vowel, but I thought ng was better in terms of the point of articulation. Now let me see...

@OmarL Yes in katakana. As I have searched sometimes in hiragana nowadays which suggests the term is popularized, but no kanji.

I think it'd be better, too, if you include what you originally wanted to say, in English for example. I guess you want to express some intricate idea but I can't quite nail it down.
