Q: What determines if an upgrade circuit can or cannot be sold?

galacticninjaI recently got this message after trying to sell an upgrade circuit that I'm not gonna be using anymore: What determines if an upgrade circuit can or cannot be sold? Is there a way to make these unsellable circuits, sellable?

@Sterno Using biscuit to mean cookie is not computing well for me.

@OrigamiRobot I disabled biscuits in my web browser

@fredley @RonanForman @kalina What do you call this ^

Cookies, obviously

1:18 PM
@OrigamiRobot did you get stuck in a Mystcraft age? I had already headed to bed when you pinged me

@SaintWacko congratulations!

@badp First win!
Thanks :D

@MBraedley I rescued myself.

@OrigamiRobot Scone

@fredley Witchcraft

1:20 PM
@OrigamiRobot No, scone

Sugar?

@OrigamiRobot Crafting recipes etc are all there

@fredley I can find recipes in NEI. I want descriptions on what it does

@OrigamiRobot What happened?

@OrigamiRobot scone

1:22 PM
@OrigamiRobot Power armor is totally batteries-not-included, armor-not-included. To add modules, you need to have the armor in your inventory, and use the tinker tool. You can modify various values as you like, but keep in mind that any weight over 25 kg will make you move slow

@OrigamiRobot Oh
@Unionhawk Is there a module to make you move fast, or can you wear quantum legs with it?

@MBraedley I died and I was really far away from spawn. Miraculously, I found where I died.

@fredley There is. And you go exactly as fast as quantum sprint.

@badp It helped that when I got to Z:5 I had a wand of hasting and 10 scrolls of recharging :D

@Unionhawk :D

1:23 PM
The tinker tool gives a good description of each module.

I may craft one of these. Can it protect me in lava like QA?

@djsmiley2k From what I can tell, they are not the same.

not the same as what?

@djsmiley2k Scones and the picture I linked.
No American biscuit I've ever had uses sugar.

1:25 PM
hmmmm
those are scones :/

Do scones have sugar?

A scone is a single-serving cake or quick bread. They are usually made of wheat, barley or oatmeal, with baking powder as a leavening agent, and are baked on sheet pans. They are often lightly sweetened and are occasionally glazed. The scone is a basic component of the cream tea or Devonshire tea. It differs from a tea cake and other sweet buns, which are made with yeast. Lexicology The pronunciation of the word within the United Kingdom varies. According to one academic study, two-thirds of the British population pronounce it with the preference rising to 99% in the Scottish popula...

@fredley It can essentially give you 24 points of armor. It won't exactly do the 104% damage reduction, but you can still swim in lava and take a few creepers to the face

A biscuit () is a baked, commonly flour-based food product. The term is applied to two distinct products in North America and the Commonwealth of Nations and Europe. For a list of varieties, see the list of biscuits and cookies. Variations in meaning *In the United States and sometimes in Canada, it is a small, soft, leavened bread, somewhat similar to a scone, though generally softer and fluffier. Although yeast may be used as a leavening agent, it is often replaced or supplemented with baking powder or baking soda. A Southern regional variation on the term, "beaten biscuit", is close...

@Unionhawk Ok.

1:26 PM
> In the United States and sometimes in Canada, it is a small, soft, leavened bread, somewhat similar to a scone, though generally softer and fluffier.

@OrigamiRobot Biscuits and scones are not alike at all

scones are very soft o_O

A scone is a kind of cake, essentially

biscuits are hard

Damn you Wikipedia...

1:26 PM
@djsmiley2k I am talking American biscuits vs scones.

biscuits go soft when exposed to air, cakes go hard. Scones are cakes :D

@djsmiley2k As far as tax law goes, if it goes hard when it goes stale, it's a cake. If it goes soft when it goes stale it's a biscuit. Biscuits and cakes are taxed differently in the UK.

It's a tea biscuit. I don't know what a scone is, therefore it doesn't exist

@djsmiley2k beat me to it

@fredley exactly.

1:27 PM
Americans have a separate thing called a scone... I'm so confused

/me eats a cookie
smarties cookie <3

@Unionhawk Don't even get started on 'English muffins'

@Unionhawk americans can't invent stuff, instead they just copy and call it something else

@OrigamiRobot No they are not

1:28 PM
@djsmiley2k So?

@badp lol wtf?

@OrigamiRobot no.... they are scones.
@Unionhawk hense the confusion

@OrigamiRobot tea biscuit to be precise

@djsmiley2k Not if scones have sugar.

@OrigamiRobot These are biscuits

1:28 PM
I don't think they do
you have em with cream and stuff.... and biscuits have sugar

@djsmiley2k The recipe @fredley linked did.

@fredley I see cookies in there

@fredley Those are cookies.

biscuits, to me, are flat, crumbly, hard

@MBraedley Cookies are a subset of biscuits

1:29 PM
Biscuits are puffy, soft, and usually buttery.
2

What @fredley said!
:/

@StrixVaria mmmmmmm buttery

Biscuits are hard

American biscuits are weird and wrong
your candy is wrong too.

The British use the word "biscuit" ambiguously.
2
We at least have one solid definition.

1:30 PM
@StrixVaria No we do not

Biscuits and cookies are unrelated.
2

I knew someone was going to star that ¬_¬
cookies are a subset to biscuit
Biscuits are generally hard baked sweetened flat goods.

@StrixVaria Incorrect

@djsmiley2k You just defined cookie but attributed it to biscuit.

nice, digestive, cookie....

1:31 PM
So many stars
2

no, cookies here are generally softer.

Biscuits are fluffy cylinders of joy
5

want me to take a photo of my cookies?

See picture:

1:32 PM

@fredley Cookie.

@fredley That is a cookie

@fredley Cookie

@fredley That doesn't even look like a particularly good cookie.

@OrigamiRobot Absolutely biscuit

1:33 PM
@fredley That is one of the most un-biscuit foods I've seen

@StrixVaria Custard creams are the shit

Good morning, Bridge

@SaintWacko We have a barrel of these in the office. On the barrel is written BISCUITS

@fbueckert You're late. We are discussing biscuits and cookies

1:33 PM
@StrixVaria Also cookies.

@StrixVaria Cookies, and biscuits

Custard Creme!

@fbueckert Welcome to the biscuit cookie debate of 2013

@djsmiley2k Quite

nom

1:34 PM
@fredley Well go get on to someone for putting the cookies in the wrong barrel

@OrigamiRobot I was giving an example of an actually good cookie.

Also malted milk!

3 mins ago, by StrixVaria
Biscuits and cookies are unrelated.

@MBraedley More like Holy War

I got my first spam text last night. I need an SMS blocker now, I'm thinking.

1:34 PM
how could I forget the cow covered malted milk!

@djsmiley2k Aw yeah
Malted milk FTW

@StrixVaria Cookie, see biscuit.

@fredley blow their minds, show them a jaffa cake.

@fredley Cookie

1:34 PM
4 mins ago, by StrixVaria
Biscuits and cookies are unrelated.

@djsmiley2k Jaffa cake is the platypus of the biscuit kingdom.

Ooo, oo, are we having this cookie vs. biscuit debate again?

I don't understand why they bother giving cookie an additional word, "biscuit", which already has its own meaning.

@fredley it's a cake, so of the cake kingdom, surely.

1:35 PM
@fredley It's a cake, legally speaking.

The British must be intent on confusing the already most-confusing language.

@fredley Cookie.
2

(it should be in bisuit kingdom but they won't let it in).

@YiJiang'sEvilClone Is this a regular occurance?

@Unionhawk As far as tax is concerned
@OrigamiRobot No way.

1:35 PM
@fredley Yeah, that's a cookie

@fredley That's 100% a cookie.

sigh. You guys are hopeless.

It's a cake

What.

The bottom is soft

1:36 PM
In america, these are cookies. Anywhere else they are biscuits.

@fredley That's another thing that's arbitrarily confusing...

That is in no way a cake.

Except when they are cakes

@fredley Well it's definitely not a biscuit

@StrixVaria legally they are cakes.

1:36 PM
Americans use the Imperial system, therefore all your arguments are invalid.

Told you it'd blow your minds.

@fredley Low blow!

@djsmiley2k Why is "cake" legally defined?

Wait, what does an american cake look like?

@StrixVaria Taxes

1:37 PM
@StrixVaria no tax on cakes, there is tax on biscuits (And cookies!) tho.

Jaffa Cake went to law to prove it.

Countries that understand biscuits:

The fact that cake, cookie, and biscuit have legal implications is already a sign you're doing it wrong.
3

1:37 PM
@MBraedley Cake.

@MBraedley Biscuit

@fredley WHAT
You must be trolling now.

@fredley You guys spell aluminum wrong!

@StrixVaria Possibly...

@fredley That's taken from the cake article on wikipedia

1:38 PM
@MBraedley Lies.

@fredley The countries in red understand biscuits

@MBraedley So wikipedia is correct?

Cake is a form of bread or bread-like food. In its modern forms, it is typically a sweet baked dessert. In its oldest forms, cakes were normally fried breads or cheesecakes, and normally had a disk shape. Determining whether a given food should be classified as bread, cake, or pastry can be difficult. Modern cake, especially layer cakes, normally contain a combination of flour, sugar, eggs, and butter or oil, with some varieties also requiring liquid (typically milk or water) and leavening agents (such as yeast or baking powder). Flavorful ingredients like fruit purées, nuts, dried or...

@djsmiley2k Exactly why I'm apposed to the large majority of "luxury taxes". You end up with legally defined cakes and weaselly produced products to match/not match arbitrary definitions

dammit, it showed the wrong image

1:39 PM
@MBraedley those are some fruity cakes
It always shows the wrong image

@BenBrocka hmmmmm yes, but thats not what happened with jaffa cakes

Lets bring this back on topic: Scones are a separate thing from both cake and biscuit.

They existed before the tax afaik, and then one day someone went "Wait, they are sold on the biscuit isle!"

Only in the Bridge do we argue so hard about cake.

The only time that "biscuit" is allowed to refer to something "hard and crunchy" is when it's going to be eaten by dogs.

1:39 PM
@djsmiley2k "People enjoy this, lets tax it" - every government ever.

@fredley hmmm I'd say they are cakes. Like cup cakes, or muffins (american style ones).

@fredley Agreed. And biscuits are a separate thing from cookies.

Yes, scones are separate

@djsmiley2k Don't bring muffins into this.

@fredley what about the french bread!?!?!!?:!!!IJKODjsfodhfsoh

1:40 PM
English muffins are pretty good. At least you guys got that right.

I have to go back to work now :<

I'm strongly reminded of the Monty Python sketch about taxing...thingy.

@StrixVaria *headdesk*

@OrigamiRobot hmmmmmmm I have no idea?

1:41 PM
I like my English muffins with Canadian bacon.

I am not a fan of english muffins

@OrigamiRobot Mallow cup?

Are english muffins actually american muffins sold in america?

I prefer bagels

@djsmiley2k Americans win! Please leave the deed to your country in the mailbox.

1:41 PM
@StrixVaria America's approach to cuisine is basically just trolling the rest of the world, isn't it?

@Unionhawk Yes, it was a trap.

@SaintWacko English muffins aren't as good as bagels, that's true.

American muffins are baked by bald eagles, cooked over fireworks

This is a corn muffin.

@StrixVaria Biscuit

1:42 PM

@OrigamiRobot Now, if that was brandy on the inside, it'd be the best ever.

This is an English muffin.

@StrixVaria Why corn?

@djsmiley2k It's made of cornmeal.

@StrixVaria That is a bun.

1:42 PM
@StrixVaria Agree, that is a muffin of english origin
@StrixVaria Ah ok, over here that "shape" is an american muffin, I doubt they are made from cornmeal tho.

Man, I am so glad I started this.
6

scotch pancakes!¬

I have to leave in 10 minutes to go get a tooth pulled, and I am looking forward to it compared to this.

what are those holey things @fredley ?!

On that note, I really should get back to work

1:43 PM

@djsmiley2k bagels

@OrigamiRobot Corn bread.

@OrigamiRobot That is a sponge.

no no

Q: Do mountains, slopes, valleys, lakes and seas have any advantages or benefits in Simcity 4?

Kristof ClaesI was wondering if mountains, slopes, valleys, lakes and seas have any advantages or benefits in Simcity 4. If I remember it correctly, waterpumps in Simcity 2000 had to be close to a lake or a river. Is this still the case in Simcity 4? I was thinking of creating one big flat region with only a...

galacticninjaAs I was playing in the Summit Forest level (which has a 'Hitman' kind of vibe to it), trying to take down enemies as stealthily as possible, this got me thinking: How do the stealth elements of the game work and how does the enemy AI detect the player? Specifically, I would like to know: Do ...

@fredley Those aren't bagels! Those are english muffins!

Shove off @Lazers

@SaintWacko Anything with a hole in it is a bagel or a doughnut

@fredley Don't bring doughnuts into this.

1:46 PM
@fredley Those don't have holes in them

It's confusing enough as it is

@SaintWacko Donuts can have holes in them.

Bagels all at least have the potential to have a hole, although some are so fat that the hole fills up with bagel.

@StrixVaria I never said they had to
@fredley Correct, those are donuts

1:47 PM

@SaintWacko doughnuts

@fredley donuts

@StrixVaria doughnuts

@fredley I've heard it both ways </ShawnSpencer>

@SaintWacko PANTS ARE UNDERGARMENTS

@fredley Then what are underpants?

@fbueckert there was a ban for someone til 2023 but I can't find my screnshot.

@fredley Trousers are pants, yes.

1:54 PM
@Michel Have a cookie/biscuit/baked sugary snack.

@OrigamiRobot And Trousers is the correct term. Dare you dispute wikipedia?

@djsmiley2k Ice cream counts?

@OrigamiRobot I know, a vest is an undergarment, worn on the torso

@fredley I never said trousers was incorrect.
@fredley Now you're just trolling.

@OrigamiRobot If you're going to call them pants, why not go all out and call them pantaloons?
@OrigamiRobot vests

1:56 PM
@Michel you bake ice cream?

@djsmiley2k Feast your eyes
@djsmiley2k google.com/…

@fredley vest
@fredley WTF, no those are undershirts.

@OrigamiRobot see search term and weep
@OrigamiRobot JACKETS HAVE BUTTONS AND POCKETS
@Michel Baked Alaska

Now I'm hungry -_-

@fredley Yes, and sleeves.

@OrigamiRobot Not necessarily. But I do know that wearing that as an undergarment would be uncomfortable, therefore it's not a vest.

@fredley Vests are not undergarments.

1:58 PM
@OrigamiRobot Incorrect

What kind of horrible language do you even speak?

@djsmiley2k I prefer Dreadnoughts
