@aediaλ I hate losing things.

Ah.
@Cerberus This might be a silly question, but don't you have too many books? Where do they go? I've tried for the most part not to buy physical books except textbooks in the past several years, due to the problem of having to move them repeatedly, and I still am low on bookcase space somehow. I think my paperbacks were breeding while boxed up.

@aediaλ Haha, yes, they breed like rabbits. And I do have to many books. But I have most of them double-stacked at my parents'; I now have zero book cases here.
A few little shelves around the house, but many books end up on desks and tables.

@KitFox I don't have any advice for that because I am slightly intolerant of my better half's cavalier storage methods already (hint: involves piles) and suspect that any hypothetical offspring who develop similar tendencies may push me over the edge.

@aedia Do you remember drinking tea with me in a little cabin by the sea, by the sea?
Ach. You know, I feel bad because I have merged your memory with @cornbread and now I am having trouble remembering which things are associated with whom.
She is the one who sings songs and does poetry.
You are the IPU.

It's ok! Don't feel bad. I've been gone quite a while, and it sounds like you're also very busy.

7:14 PM
Most days I can't remember my own name.

You're Melanchthon, don't you remember?
shakes Melanchthon
It's not so hard to pronounce once you get used to it.
Besure to articulate the h's.

@KitFox They say that once you’ve lost your mind, you don’t even notice it’s gone missing.

Is it secret now?
You could be any kind of chthon, melas or no.

"Why'd they do that arbitrarily? I liked the old way better!" <–Cerb, no matter what the new thing is.
Ahahaha. I forgot I said that.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Thing is, I pour my liquor over naked models' breasts before drinking it anyway, so I don't really want to pay extra for that feature.
Forgot that one too. Hilarious.

user19161
Geezis.

user19161
@RegDwighт Why?

Q: "I have these stats that show that A and B get used in books, but A is used way more often." A: "Yes, A and B are both fine, but A is used way more often."
@JasonBourne It's like those people who post "I found the word car in a dictionary. Does it really exist?"

user19161
@RegDwighт Ah, I think perhaps more elaboration on the grammar would be good.

user19161
@RegDwighт Actually I can empathize with the asker's doubt in this case. It seems a reasonable question.

@JasonBourne I'm afraid you still don't get my point.
"Does the word car exist?" is a reasonable question, too. But not "I checked a dictionary, and found the word car, but I'd still like to poll a random group of strangers off the Internet if it really exists".

user19161
7:31 PM
@RegDwighт OK.

I mean, if he thinks all those books are lying, then what makes him think we won't be?
And the books have names of actual people on the cover. We are a just bunch of bytes.

user19161
I can get away with that answer, but Barrie, a real English expert? I expect better answers from the old man!

Wrong again. You wouldn't get away with that answer. :P
Barrie has a subscription to that kind of one-liners.

user19161
Well, for the word requests I try to add some words to have the minimum length.

Very noble of you!
I will express my gratitude with a bunch of flowers.

user19161
7:35 PM
I know there are tricks to bypass it, but I can't be bothered to use any of them.

user19161
@RegDwighт No flirting in this chat!

I think they have eradicated most of them.
In comments, too.

user19161
Give your wife flowers instead, and also your mum.

I ran into an old comment of mine a couple months back, and the trick was no longer working but was printed out in plain text.
And it didn't help that I have the rights to edit comments, because the whole point of that comment was its being a mere three characters long.
So I nuked it.
A pity, really.

user19161
Did I tell you I have nuked all my comments on SE?

user19161
7:38 PM
Can you believe that I deleted over a thousand comments yesterday?

@JasonBourne You wouldn't stop telling everybody that you were going to.

user19161
@RegDwighт Yes, I am so proud of it...

@JasonBourne life is too short. You could have gone for a walk instead.

@JasonBourne "We expect answers to be supported by facts, references, or specific expertise"; Barrie's are the latter.

Yeah, that is very much what I meant.

user19161
7:40 PM
I was expecting that after the hundredth comment a mod will be notified of possible vandalism.

Nobody gives a damn about comments. Certainly not the system.

user19161
@MετάEd Kris's are also the latter.

That is a different kind of specificity.

user19161
@RegDwighт I will do that tomorrow night.

@KitFox Nice.

user19161
7:43 PM
@aediaλ What's the thing on the top left corner?

A mirror.

user19161
I have been trying to figure out since yesterday.

Her eyeball.

A mirror is an object that reflects light or sound in a way that preserves much of its original quality subsequent to its contact with the mirror. Some mirrors also filter out some wavelengths, while preserving other wavelengths in the reflection. This is different from other light-reflecting objects that do not preserve much of the original wave signal other than color and diffuse reflected light. The most familiar type of mirror is the plane mirror, which has a flat surface. Curved mirrors are also used, to produce magnified or diminished images or focus light or simply distort the...

Wearing glasses.

user19161
7:44 PM
Geezis.

@KitFox I've been looking through the starred posts a bit but I keep getting distracted by reading context for some of them. I still don't think I'm back to October.
@JasonBourne Huhwha?

@JasonBourne No, not geezis. Mirror.
Repeat after me: mir-ror.

It's not a mirror.

user19161
@aediaλ I mean in the pic you posted above, it looks weird.

I don't have any mirrors.

7:44 PM
@KitFox You're not a mirror.

At least not in places I've shown you.
So it's gotta be my face, but I still don't know what picture you're talking about, @Jas. All of them?
I got new glasses and they are bigger.

@aediaλ you just don't know it because they reflect stuff right back at you so you don't see them.

Eyeball. Glasses.

7:46 PM
That's just a type of mirror.

user19161
Also, with my special powers, I can see you in front of that photo.

user19161
Hey @trig!

@JasonBourne 'Ello.

Oh no, not the gay-porn TRiG!

user19161
@TRiG Still the same pic I see. Not that I am hurrying you to change.

7:48 PM
@JasonBourne I've not had my home computer online since, so I've not had an opportunity to change it.

user19161
@TRiG So what will be the next pic like?

@JasonBourne Dunno. I'll trawl through my photos and find one that's reasonable. Probably one that shows me with long hair and wearing a silly hat.

user19161
@TRiG Long hair! Interesting! I look forward to seeing it.

@JasonBourne I've not cut my hair since November 2011, but I'm planning to get it cut when I'm on a day off in Galway on the last day of this month. I've not told anyone that yet.

7:51 PM
suddenly wants cake

user19161
@aediaλ Is that your husband?

@RegDwighт Oi. I've never been in gay porn. Yet.

@JasonBourne Have I mentioned lately that I married a turret?

user19161
@aediaλ Do you know that I need to look up that word now?

@JasonBourne It's a reference to Portal, methinks.

user19161
7:53 PM
@Mechanicalsnail Very lovely shades of blue there you have.

Q: "You and your..." vs. "Your and your..."

PeteWhich is correct, and why? ...identifying you and your competitors' relative market performance... or ...identifying your and your competitors' relative market performance... Each entity is in possession of "relative market performance", so I think grammar dictates both be "your", but...

user19161
Amazing question!

user19161
I don't mean it sarcastically. I think it is very interesting.

7:58 PM
@TRiG I didn't say you have.
I'm just saying that I was peacefully searching for — see, I don't even know what, because suddenly OMG gay porn.
Dinosaurs. It was donut-shaped dinosaurs.
So yeah, I was searching for donut-shaped dinosaurs but found your gay porn. That was like unexpected.
In fact the last time that happened I was using Cuil.

user19161
@RegDwighт Wait, I am very confused now. You mean that is aedia and not her husband in the pic?

Does that person look like a man to you?

user19161
Honestly, it could be either sex.

@RegDwighт You found my gay porn?

It would be a pretty effeminate man.

8:02 PM
;)

Jasper really likes to put his foot in his mouth.

user19161
@KitFox Like Justin Bieber.

Andrej Pejić () (born 28 August 1991 in Tuzla, SR Bosnia-Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Bosnian Australian androgynous model. Early life Pejić was born in Tuzla and has one older brother, Igor. Their mother, Jadranka Savić, is a Bosnian Serb, and their father, Vlada Pejić, is a Bosnian Croat. They divorced shortly after Andrej's birth. During the Bosnian War, Andrej and Igor fled to Serbia with their mother and grandmother, settling in a refugee camp near Belgrade. When asked if they found their childhood difficult, Pejić said: After the refugee camp, the family settled in Vojska vi...

@JasonBourne Right, but aedia's hardly going to be married to a gay guy.

@KitFox effeminate != gay

8:03 PM
@JasonBourne now stop right there.

user19161
@TRiG Well, as long as we understand each other.

@TRiG I wasn't saying that.

Saying that Justin Bieber is an effeminate man is offending men and women.

user19161
@RegDwighт Geezis. I sinned.

user19161
@aediaλ OK, now I can recall the similarity between this and the one with the leaf two years ago.

user19161
8:08 PM
By the way, I haven't been following Justin Bieber's news. Is he still with Selena? I think they broke up long ago.

@KitFox He does look like a bear though.

user19161
@aediaλ A fierce big bear?

Hey, want to see a wedding pic?

"Bear" is an LGBT slang term for men that are commonly, but not always, overweight and often having hairy bodies and facial hair. Some are also muscular and some project an image of rugged masculinity in their grooming and appearance. It is a subculture in the gay and bisexual male communities and to an emerging subset of LGBT communities with events, codes, and a culture-specific identity. Some say the term "bear" originated with Richard Bulger, who, along with his then partner Chris Nelson (1960–2006) founded Bear Magazine in 1987. However, there is some contention that the term "bear"...

user19161
@KitFox Yes.

8:09 PM
@KitFox Of course!

user19161
OK, done.

I was checking my flower.

awwww. pretty!

user19161
@kit You are so beautiful!

I was going to show off my dress though. Let me see if I can find one.

user19161
8:11 PM
Wow, you are in a good mood today.

user19161
@aediaλ Yes, I know that.

That's funny. My wedding album on FB seems to have gone missing.

user19161
Oh no!

user19161
Did someone hack in and steal your pics?

Holy crap. I remembered my MySpace password after almost five years of not logging in.
I still have 36 friends.

user19161
8:18 PM
I only have SE, Google and Gravatar accounts online, nothing else.

And that's where my wedding album was apparently.
I made all those dresses.
And half the women.

user19161
Wow @corn came just in time for pics.

@KitFox glad I saw that while it lasted.

The back of my dress had laces, but I don't have a good picture of it.

user19161
@matt Any pics to show us? =)

@JasonBourne my first apartment looked like that, with those column thingies.

I should've kept the mystery by posting this one.
That's me.

Oooh cool!

user19161
@KitFox Now you are no longer mysterious!

Give me some demolition, baby!

Yeah, honey. That's my toolbelt.

Hawt safety goggles.

8:25 PM
@JasonBourne I can only keep up the mystery for so long. It's been, what, two years?

@KitFox bites lip

user19161
@aediaλ Your glasses above are hawt too, LOL

@aediaλ Thanks. I kept them from orgo.

user19161
Did I just enter the girls room?

I guess y'all haven't seen me in my glasses, which is funny because I usually wear them.

user19161
8:27 PM
Hello @pete, what brings you here today?

@KitFox of course I have.
And so have a few select few.

Of course you have. You got the special preview.
You probably also saw the pornographic one of me and my girlfriend.

user19161
But we will never know what Reg looks like.

@KitFox Why? You mean because I would ask my father for the complete list of addresses and social security numbers of all the people who were ever aboard a particular US vessel? I could, but I wouldn't.

@MattЭллен oy.

@JasonBourne Just browsing :-)

luckily there was a puddle of bog water near by so I could wash it off

@RegDwighт that there's a German sub.

8:36 PM
@MattЭллен you look like crap.

@RegDwighт Because you are not allowed to know that information and I certainly am not going to disclose it to you.

@RegDwighт sorry to muddy the water

@MattЭллен are you Golem?

How did I waste my entire day again?

@KitFox easily.

@MattЭллен Wow, what did you do?

@RegDwighт I wear shoes! Golem doesn't have shoes. He was a hobbit.

@RegDwighт I would.

@JasonBourne I stood in mud

8:37 PM
Why?

I thought it wouldn't be deep, it was deep

Just look at your foot.

user19161
I only saw one of Mahnax's pics so far.

my other foot was on solid land

@Cerberus see, that's why Putin lets him be my father but not yours.

8:37 PM
Was that smart?

yes
very smart

@JasonBourne !

@RegDwighт Lets whom be your father?

all smart people stand in mud that everyone else avoided

@Cerberus what?

user19161
8:38 PM
@cornbreadninja Have you seen any?

@MattЭллен You did it just for the FB picture,huh?

Zuviel Echo hier.

Yeah.

@JasonBourne no. I picture him as brown-haired.

@Cerberus no, I genuinely thought everyone else was wrong.
"what's the worst that could happen?"

8:39 PM
@cornbreadninja I remember visiting Chicago's MSI when I was around 11. I went twice, maybe even three times in few days I was in town. A-mazing.

@JasonBourne Oh, hehe. I remember that photograph.

user19161
@Mahnax You can show us more if you like, in future.

@Pete it's so big!

@JasonBourne I will keep that in mind.
The picture you saw was the one of me on the carousel, yes?

I'm beginning to suspect that I'm only three degrees removed from Reg.

8:40 PM
pictures mahnax on a carousel

user19161
The guys in the math room show their pics more often.

It was a silly picture.

user19161
@Mahnax Yes, a side view.

user19161
I am still wondering if Kris is male or female, LOL

user19161
It could be Kristopher or Kristina.

8:41 PM
or Kristian

@JasonBourne scoffs

I knew a Kristian once

I vote female.

Waah, now I want to ride a carousel, and I haven't got one, only a pile of web analytics reports.

@JasonBourne *maths

8:42 PM
@aediaλ meet me at the House on the Rock.

@MattЭллен Haha.
Silly.

Well of course
use what you know

@MattЭллен Did they try to convert you?

@Mahnax lol. sort of. he was quite the pothead

user19161
@Pete Don't the Americans use math and not maths?

8:43 PM
I just made the cat yawn.

so he encouraged me to join in
@cornbreadninja did you? or was it the other way around?

user19161
I was a Christian for a couple of years.

user19161
Then I lost the faith.

@MattЭллен I did. I feigned a yawn to get her to yawn.

@JasonBourne And now you're a Buddhiconfucianostic.

8:44 PM
@cornbreadninja Stop it!
yawns

@cornbreadninja :D good work.

user19161
@Mahnax Yes, my belief exaplains Buddhism, Christianity and atheism all at once, as I have expounded.

@cornbreadninja this one? it looks amazing, but I'd never heard of it before

user19161
@Mahnax That is his trick.

8:46 PM
@aediaλ yes! I'm not sure they let you ride it, though. :(

I know about it from American Gods.

@cornbreadninja I am reading that right now!

@cornbreadninja I was just going to say that.
It's also the reason I visited the center of the US on my honeymoon.

@Mahnax whoa!

8:47 PM
I think I like Good Omens more, but it's still pretty good thus far.

@KitFox Hutchinson, KS?

Also, I am sick right now. It is unpleasant.

user19161
@cornbreadninja Very fierce.

I sort of expected a smaller cat to come out of there.

And now I am off to Chemistry. Farewell.

user19161
8:48 PM
@Mahnax Bye!

Nooo don't blow yourself up!

@Mahnax farewell!

@aediaλ Oh, I've been to House On The Rock.

user19161
@Mahnax Wear the goggles!

And now I am back. Chemistry class is just across the hall from Physics, you see.

8:50 PM
@JasonBourne We use math in the US, I dunno about our neighbors to the north. But I like maths better... I couldn't really say why for sure, but I'm going to blame it on PBS and the BBC.

@Pete Math here in Canada too, but I much prefer maths.

user19161
I prefer math to maths.

user19161
maths sounds like mats

I'm gonna go back to packin' up the cat cave.

user19161
@cornbreadninja Yes, with Tim.

8:51 PM
@cornbreadninja Perhaps my favorite from Gaiman, although I recently read Anansi Boys and kept laughing out loud in public places.

@JasonBourne nay.
@KitFox Mr. Fox?

@KitFox Who is that?

@cornbreadninja Aye.

Ah.

user19161
Mr Fox!

8:52 PM
@Pete I haven't read any other Gaimans, I don't think.

There is a creepy abandoned hotel there and a monument with a flag.

user19161
@Mahnax HAHAHAHAHA

He is rather fantastic.

@KitFox nice.

8:53 PM
@cornbreadninja Oh my lord, you are in for treats.

user19161
Wow, today is the day of pics in this chat.

Neil Gaiman did a presentation at Carnegie hall with John and Hank Green the other night.
Hannah Hart from My Drunk Kitchen was there too.

user19161
@Mahnax Did you watch Hell's Kitchen?

@KitFox Eeek! Abandoned hotels are so scary.

@JasonBourne Maybe one episode. But I have not watched television in ages.

8:55 PM
@cornbreadninja Highly recommend Anansi Boys and the afformentioned Good Omens, written with Terry Pratchett.

@aediaλ Yeah, that's why we had sex in the chapel instead.

Good Omens is fantastic. Really, really good.

@Pete noted!

user19161
@KitFox OMG!

8:56 PM
So, not Hutchinson, KS?

If y'all are ever in western NY, like if you go to Niagara Falls, there's a carousel museum nearby: carrouselmuseum.org/exhibits.html

@aediaλ we-stern new-york wea-therrrr

@KitFox Haha!
@cornbreadninja Can't be worse than - where is the other one? Michigan?

Okay, back to work for me. Thanks for the stimulatin' conversatin', gang!

@cornbreadninja I thought yes.

8:57 PM
@aediaλ just singin' the weather song from the late 90s.

I might have been there in the summer when it wasn't nine feet of lake effect snow.
Oh. Apparently I did not learn this song.

@aediaλ it was the radio lead-in on some station.

@Mahnax s/ears/eyes/ ftfy

While any measurement of the exact center of the United States will always be imprecise for a number of reasons, due to such factors as the exact placement of thousands of miles of changing shoreline, the U.S. National Geodetic Survey (NGS) has produced designated measurements for the center of the United States to the best of its ability to do so. From the time of the 1912 additions of New Mexico and Arizona, until the 1959 additions of Alaska and Hawaii, the NGS placed the geographic center of the entire United States at a point near the town of Lebanon, Kansas. Since 1959 this location...
Oh, it's near Lebanon.

@MετάEd Excuse me, but I will cover what I want to cover, sir.
