@tripleee Yeah. Ok, thanks.

The difference between tp and tpu is whether a user gets on the blacklist or not.

Answers that are written entirely in a language other than English on a clearly English-only site are nothing if not abusive.
I don't run this garbage through a translator when attempting to determine its legitimacy.

Zoe
They don't deserve red flags just for being non-english though

Any more than I click on links to unknown websites or download unknown files to determine whether something is spam.
@Zoe Absolutely!

We're typically given this guidance, which mentions that the feedback that should be given is based on its content when translated. Apparently being on the wrong site in the wrong language alone does not make it tp-able.

We had this discussion once. I am seeing a tons of discussion like this with codygray...

@Spevacus Huh, OK. That's a policy I strongly disagree with, but Charcoal can do what it wants.
On Stack Overflow, those posts will be nuked with abusive flags, and the accounts will be destroyed.

Zoe
Including questions?

I'm not planning on relying upon a translator to determine the value of a post any more than I'm going to download malware.

I'll gladly rude-flag those from now on, though, if that's how they're handled on SO.

@CodyGray ...that... seems harsh...

Zoe
1:44 PM
You're forgetting that quite a few people don't know the site is in english, partly due to autotranslate tools. Hammer them, yes, but red-flagging and destroying accounts over it?

You've made that argument before. Yes, my approach doesn't account for helpless stupidity. I'm not bothered by that.

If we don't help "helplessly stupid" people, they will stay that way...

That's not really my problem. My problem is keeping the garbage off of the site.
5

Hm...

Zoe
We don't need to help them, but destroying accounts over it contradicts all established policies on spam and non-english content
5

1:47 PM
Yep

Zoe
(more specifically, the bit where non-english alone doesn't make something spam)

I see no evidence whatsoever for that claim, aside from the policy established by Charcoal.
Which is well within their purview, but standing policy on SE for many years has been that posting nothing but gibberish is sufficient grounds to destroy an account and/or otherwise banish them from the site.
"Cats aren't allowed to walk across keyboards" is the traditional refrain.
Similarly, we expect you to be paying at least a modicum of attention to the site you're on.

> Answers written in non-English should be flagged as very low quality, although not an answer will also work.

None of this establishes whether moderators will destroy accounts whose sole contribution has been a low-quality, non-English and/or gibberish answer.
