still vulnerable with a loopback (which means malware is running elsewhere on your box already) or within your LAN (which means malware is running elsewhere on your LAN)

and users often configure their stuff to be "wide open" to get games to work

meaning someone could just randomly print death threats on your printer or something

Except nowadays each house will have multiple desktops, laptops, phones, tablets, gaming consoles, media centers, streaming dongles, IoT devices etc etc, each with different levels of exploitability and patcheability.

I see nothing wrong with a light touch on a shoulder or tap on the arm / back, but that is probably cultural. If a person tells me they're unconfortable with it, my reaction would be to respect their request. And never to react "huh, but... but she lets her boyfriend touch her"
