@sphennings I wholeheartedly agree that it's not indicative of any problems, but it's a great opportunity to reflect on your relationship and to reconsider your needs and desires together with your SO. — henning41 secs ago
@Tinkeringbell again, it's different there. He'll fix your tire, or wait until the second person comes alone and wait with you until they can get help. Again, this is how people are.
@RichardU I hope it is :) For the record, I've just been teasing ;) Although reading about the cop bit did make me go 'weird' it made sense once it started explaining that everyone over there can potentially carry a gun...
BTW, the help thing is common here too, but it's disappearing
I remember a winter when studying in university where I met an old lady at the supermarket barely able to carry her groceries, let alone walk on icy streets... She'd just had a hip replacement and no neighbor had offered help :/
@Tinkeringbell Not everyone can carry a gun. Some cities have pretty strict gun laws, and there are certain people (felons for example) who are banned from owning a gun, but of course there are illegal ways to acquire a gun if you really want one.
@Rainbacon Must have been from a state/city where it was pretty easy to own one then... Because it specifically mentioned it ;) It is nice to know that there's some regulation though, media over here often presents it like there's none at all
I know our neighbor has one, because they once explained why the cops dropped by so regularly ;) They're apparently checking he's storing the gun correctly
@Tinkeringbell Our country was founded by people who happened to have guns and used them to fight a war against a government that they believed to be oppressive. A lot of people like to cling to that.
Not that such an approach would work well today. I highly doubt a bunch of private citizens with hunting rifles and shotguns could stand up against the most well funded military in the world.
@Pheo Well, you mentioned hidden tunnels XD I assumed there was some interesting hidden tunnel over there. Or have you just been playing video games? :P
So what can this bot do right now. How should I be interacting? (Just found the instrictions at the top--too bad we can't link them persistently on the sidebar...)
@Rainbacon don't forget that our well funded military is purely volunteer and made up of the citizenry and would take a very dim view towards taking illegal orders.
@RichardU We could probably go well down the rabbit hole about whether or not fighting rebellious citizens is illegal, but I'm far too exhausted for that.
@Tinkeringbell Yeah, it was awfully quiet in here last week when you weren't around much
And it's quite all right that you took some time. I'm glad you came back though. I decided last night that you're my new hero, because I'm quite impressed with how level headed you've remained despite the amount of pushback that you've gotten for caring about the site.
In what ways ("love language") do you show your wife that you love her on a regular basis? It sounds like she doesn't feel loved by you right now. — mbomb00751 secs ago
@Rainbacon Hi! I am Raphiel! Please review the room rules. Please don't abuse me. I am still in testing, and wouldlike to live a long life without complications.
When your code works but your English has spelling errors.
Nah, I just wanted to see if I could actually move stuff to Trash instead of trash... never been able to do that before, it didn't show up in my list before too
We don't force conversation here to necessarily be about human interaction. We mostly just sit here and watch the comment bot give us flag targets. And occasionally a conversation breaks out
On one condition ;) I like it if people not interrupt with random stuff when there's an actual discussion/conversation on IPS (site or skills) going ;)
@Ash sorry 'bout that. The information is kind of dispersed. I should make a website for it. Basically, Raphiel was intended to just be a simple Neural Net, but I ended up wanting something more. Raphiel, when finished, will be the second NN bot on SE (Unless someone beats me there :P). Most of the commands will be removed, essentially making it a conversationalist.
This kind of thing is a big part of the reason that women have largely dropped out of game culture... Boys will be boys, and more often than not, men will be boys. It's... Disappointing.
The quote above is taken from here and the "thing" it talks about is starring at a chest of a woman with ...
ELIZA is an early natural language processing computer program created from 1964 to 1966 at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory by Joseph Weizenbaum. Created to demonstrate the superficiality of communication between humans and machines, Eliza simulated conversation by using a 'pattern matching' and substitution methodology that gave users an illusion of understanding on the part of the program, but had no built in framework for contextualizing events. Directives on how to interact were provided by 'scripts', written originally in MAD-Slip, which allowed ELIZA to process user inputs and...
Feature requests anyone? I tend to not think of these.
OK that is so wrong. I think I really need to read this bot code before I do anything else:
// the function women think is lacking in men
listen: function (regex, fun, thisArg) {
if (Array.isArray(regex)) {
I did not write that.
// this is an ugly, but functional thing, much like your high-school
// prom date to make sure a command's output goes through us, we simply
// override the standard ways to do output
var reply = cmdArgs.reply.bind(cmdArgs),
directreply = cmdArgs.directreply.bind(cmdArgs);
