@Zyera I'm looking at it from a far simpler angle that they themselves take: "capitalism is bad for lgbt rights, socialism good". I won't go into detail explanation of how ridiculously wrong the assertion that socialist state has no inequality is, other than noting that I have far more knowledge of how it worked than most people theorizing about the topic.

@DVK-on-Ahch-To I agree, it's definitely not that simple. I'd love to talk about this in more detail, actually, esp. to hear your experiences.

As food for thought, try to find any large amount of people holding such views among those who emigrated from real socialist states (USSR, Venezuela, pre-Deng China, North Korea, old-timey Vietnam).

Q: In Cupid and Psyche, why does Cupid hide himself from Psyche?

grayIn the myth, Cupid only comes to Psyche in the dark, so she doesn't know who he is or what he looks like. What's Cupid's motivation for hiding his identity? Was he planning to do that indefinitely if Psyche hadn't disobeyed his order and took a peek at his face?

@Bookworm at what point can we conclude that questions about performance are on-topic on a site about literature?
That question seems like an excellent demonstration of the folly of separating performance from text.
That question is also an excellent demonstration of how performance is a way of reading and interpreting a text.
Our reading experience, I'm guessing, is mostly reading silently and alone. But that's only one way to read/consume literature.
Deciding that questions about performance are off-topic will stunt this site in the future, and make it very difficult for this site to attract experts on any type of theater.
For example, the people who know the most about Shakespeare aren't scholars, but the people who perform his plays.
