This question Why didn't any Death Eaters come back as ghosts had a couple of answers that rely upon the same quote:
Having chosen a feeble simulacrum of mortal life, ghosts are limited in what they can experience. No physical pleasure remains to them, and...
The excellent canon novel Lost Stars details the story of Thane Kyrell, who is initially stationed on the first Death Star before defecting after the destruction of Alderaan. Now, if I remember correctly, he was on the Death Star for at least a week when Alderaan is destroyed. However, where was ...

When did they disappear?

In the 2009 Star Trek Film Pike and Kirk have the following conversation:

I was wondering the other day if Prof. Snape could have healed George's ear, since he was able to hear the cut from Harry sectumsempra

Some one's know if there is a more powerful transformation or if Daemon prince is the limit, since these beings are not omnipotent ... So my question is:

The incarnation of the Gallifreyan played by Sir John Hurt has become known, out-of-universe, as "The War Doctor". However it's unlikely that he was actually called that in-universe. As he made it plain that he should not be called "The Doctor" in that incarnation ("Doctor no more!"), how did oth...
I'm looking to identify a story about a young woman who needs to go to a Big Baddie's castle to retrieve something, a book, I think.
Along the way she meets a young man who at first she doesn't get along with, but who ends up being a love interest.
She also discovers how to use magic, which she...
@Randal'Thor do you remember scifi.stackexchange.com/q/114974/4918 where on one hand JKR claims that no character other than Glideroy Lockhart was based on a real person, but elsewhere she admitted that Snape was based on a teacher?
Well it turns out there's a 2000 interview accio-quote.org/articles/2000/0500-aol-umkc.html which says “Are any of the characters based on family members or friends?” “As I said earlier, Ron is a lot like my oldest friend, Sean and Firenze was inspired by another friend.”
I think I should make a separate question for this
@DaaaahWhoosh Yes, Lockhart is the most similar to a real person if we can believe JKR.
It looks like she might have based a lot of characters on real life people, but at some point between 2001 and 2004 she decided she won't admit that, possibly because she was pressured by her publisher.
Which characters did J. K. Rowling base on real world people?
I'm interested only in cases where Rowling herself has said (or at least suggested) the character is based on a real world person. Please don't post unconfirmed speculation.
This question was inspired by Was Severus Snape based on...
it does seem like a safe bet to not mention who your characters are based on. If those people want to step forward, good for them, but it's kind of a dick move to shove the spotlight on people without their consent
But yes, I know, in real life she can't do it safely even without names, because then people invent rumors like how she based Lockhart on her first husband, and hire a detective to find out who her chemistry teacher was to find the real Snape, and argue on which character she based on the current President of America.
@DaaaahWhoosh Does it count if they're confirmed dead by the film? What about characters who lived centuries before the story and the website gives their death date?
Or characters the book don't even mention, like Harry's grandparents?
Consider this answer, which appeared on my low-quality queue. A user (ibid) commented a very good link backing up this answer. I then started to edit, but realised afterwards that I had completely changed the answer.

A lot of beloved characters were killed off in Deathly Hallows; there were literally corpses lined up in the Great Hall. However, there are a lot more characters in the Harry Potter world whose ultimate fate was not explored, at least not in the books or movies.
What I'm asking, then, is if JK ...

there's a strange typo where a minor character is named five times, and the second time his name is different. I thought it was just a stupid typo, but somehow it appears exactly the same in both the old and the new edition. How can that work, since the old edition is from 1987 so the text was likely not fully digitally typeset
@Mithrandir Yeah. Weighed in on the "do we keep the querent's obfuscated subject" by changing the latest attempt by the querent to avoid spoilers to include the spoilers in the title once more.
@FuzzyBoots could you please make sure that scifi.stackexchange.com/a/78667/4918 (Dorothy Maxwell, a side character in "I Looked into the Abyss, and it Winked", a Whateley Academy story) doesn't match the qn scifi.stackexchange.com/q/161406/4918 "A human has psychic power that makes people forget that he is there. Including his parents"

This is getting kind of ridiculous. On one hand, it's best to have questions that are conducive to knowing what they're about. On the other hand, the number of people who drive-by add what the querent feels are spoilers to the title... can w...
In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows George's ear gets cut off by a stray Sectumsempra (cast by Snape).
Now this was an act of Dark-magic and therefore George's ears could not be healed:

@Ixrec it is an unreferenced claim, nothing more, nothing less. The proper response is "oh, really? what's your proof?" at which point it's no longer your problem.

I was rereading the Angelique the Costumer article (enjolrasworld.com/Richard%20Arndt/…) and there was mentioning of "some very unsavory stuff went down at the July 1974 Seuling's Comic Art Con". I poked around a bit in Google, but couldn't find anything.
I've heard and read about Deadpool's obsession with Bea Arthur, but I couldn't find anything on their relationship to each other. Have these two ever met, or has she ever shown up in person in any of his comics or other canon material?
