ooooh... Idea
What if AIM had a way to register extra events on smokey reports?
events that get the report's data passed to them
@Glorfindel / @JF ^

What kind of events are you talking about?
The flagging/not_flagged events already contain the full post data from MS.

One that allows a different userscript to add buttons to the report, as well
I mean, allow a different userscript to register additional handlers

9:00 AM
I would just make that part of AIM.
To see the information coming down the websocket, open your browser's console and type autoflagging.trace(true)

I've seen that before. Probably Smokey can't parse its own messages anymore.

Smokey's gotten old.
Time to make a new bot

Well, I warned about that: IIRC, feedback via chat depends on correctly parsing the report message, so one can't just change the message format without changing that logic too.

@Cerbrus yeah, that would be doable, but I share Art's reluctancy. I agree that some posts can be judged from Smokey's message alone, but I bet people will eventually use it for less obvious posts.

9:08 AM
Which is why I prefer separating that funcitonality into a different script
... with a different api key
which can be separately revoked

@Glorfindel well, before I made the commit I made sure that the regexes in parsing.py didn't rely on it, maybe there are other regexes in other parts of the code?

OK, but making userscripts depend on each other reminds me of the DLL hell. I wouldn't recommend it.

@angussidney you know you're talking to the guy who doesn't know a Python from a Boa Constrictor?
But you could probably be right.

Isn't there a dependency thing in userscripts?

9:10 AM
@Glorfindel yeah, subcommands are simply weird

Hm, what we could also do, is implement it in AIM, but require some kind of right, which MS would grant
Although, there isn't a per-user api key for MS, is there?

@SmokeDetector shouldn't the pattern-matching product name use word boundaries @angussidney ?

@Glorfindel yes, it should. I forgot to add that. Fix incoming.

Hey, I have a question -- what do these 'tpu' things and checkmarks actually refer to?
Smokey mentions them in chat, too. ^

@doppelgreener the tpu is a feedback sent by a user to smokey / metasmoke to confirm that the reported post is indeed spam, or rude/abusive

@Cerbrus Oh, huh. Would I be someone who could/should be doing that?

The ones you see in here, like the recent "tpu- by Gothdo", are notification of the first feedback sent for a report. In that case, the feedback was automatically sent from a userscript that looks at what flags you cast on a post
You could, indeed
Ehm, lemme find you a link that explains it a little

@doppelgreener At the moment, you can't (from chat). But thats a permission that people can earn
You should be able to do it with the userscript (not sure)
Actually, you can't yet

12:01 PM
Don't you need a privileged MS account for that?

Usually people hang around here a while until we let them feedback

That'd make sense.

@doppelgreener Here: github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/wiki/Privileges is a wiki entry about how we award smokey privileges (giving feedback is one such privilege)

For what it's worth, have a look at these pages: Privileges & Feedback Guidance
@Magisch Oi, ninja

Ideally, people hang around here for a while, get a feel of how this room works, and read some of the wiki
It's not super-hard to get feedback privs

12:09 PM
Right now I'm not specifically intent on getting them, but if I'm involved in flagging spam & now involving myself in Smokey, it looks like the kind of thing I should be aware of. That said given this conversation I figure I'm likely to earn those privileges sooner or later and figure out how to use them well to help out, so, doubly so should probably learn about them.
