10:00 PM
Goddarnit Doorknob!

shouldweblamedoorknob.yes

@flawr Down starring?
@flawr registers this domain

Like downvoting but with stars.

10:01 PM
That's what I figured you meant.

That is what it was actually supposed to mean, good job, @AlexA.

:/

Is .yes a valid domain? o.o Man, they've really developed this.

@VTCAKAVSMoACE I'm becoming convinced again that it's impossible. There is no way to take x,y as input and have a stack like [x,y,x,y], which is what I would need in order to calculate such a formula.

10:03 PM
@Doorknob :D

Don't try to generate the spiral, try to generate the lines. Then test for primality.

@Doorknob is there really no confirmation required?

@VTCAKAVSMoACE Okay, tell me what formula I need to use to generate the lines.

@flawr now there is

(if you use the userscript, that is)

10:04 PM
There's no official formula - think about the pattern that the spiral forms.

@VTCAKAVSMoACE I get that. But I need specific numbers. How do I calculate them?

What did I miss?

Me

If you know the pattern, you can get the numbers. Plus, it really wouldn't be in good spirit if I just straight up told you.

@quartata You missed me. I can tell.

10:06 PM
@quartata You missed this (including the following messages.)

... I won't even try to catch up.

Ah I see.
So Alex said something and got a lot of stars, and we're blaming Doorknob for something.

@VTCAKAVSMoACE Post a ><> answer without using reflection or stack manipulation and I'll believe you.

Got it.

Or, actually, you don't need to post it. Just figure out one.

10:09 PM
Something smells fishy...

I made a (objectively funny) joke that Alex did not get (as always) but the rest thought it was funny. Doorknob was laughing so hard he accidentaly hit the delete button.

@flawr Ah I see.

I actually pressed delete instead of reply
I mean come on it's like one key away :P

Not an excuse.
shouldweblamedoorknobdefinitely.yes should be a thing

10:11 PM
@flawr [claps] Yay!

@flawr Good job!

Thanks!

@flawr I think the correct one is

10:12 PM
^ thats what I am refering to

doorknob accidentally deleted a message?

shhhhh

Thanks @sporadic upvoter ^_^

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Probably me.

@quartata Thanks! :D

10:19 PM
I'm just going around upvoting stuff because I feel like it.
You got a +1 for using Desmos.

hey look @AlexA. I accidentally deleted a message and now I have 50% of the starboard and you only have 20%
I should delete random messages for no reason more often
10

@quartata Ah, I see. :)

Here's one for you to delete

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Plus your Manhattan challenge looked real nice, might try to write a Groovy answer

10:20 PM
Can someone who knows Haskell tell how well-golfed this is?

@quartata Sweet! I appreciate your interest.

<font color='gray'>(removed)</font>
aww

@flawr Hey. Check this out.

I'm a quarter of the way through a TI-BASIC answer to @CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ's challenge; it'll cost more than 300 bytes.

@ThomasKwa Which challenge?

10:22 PM
the Manhattan one

no way I'm parsing html with a calculator

@Doorknob D:

@ThomasKwa XD Right

@flawr "As always?" ಠ_ಠ

10:24 PM
ಠ_ಠ
Huh, now I kinda wonder.
Does ಠ mean anything in any programming language?

As always, right!

Like does it mean something in APL maybe?

Haha no

@quartata in Rust it means syntax error

^
hhahaha

10:25 PM
It is probably a valid Foo program.

@flawr Everything is a valid Foo program.

You can assign it as a variable in Julia.

I mean that literally.

ಠ = 1

quartata@hydra:~/eso$ echo 'ಠ' > test.foo

10:27 PM
@quartata I ain't no valid Foo program.

quartata@hydra:~/eso$ foo test.foo
quartata@hydra:~/eso$
Oh sure it didn't output anything but it worked

@AlexA. ಠ++;

ಠ /= 0;

@quartata ಠ_ಠ is a valid identifier in JS

10:28 PM
@flawr ++ has no meaning in Julia (yet--they're considering it for concatenation wtf)

@AlexA. kek

Kek?

meme-2-english translation: what you said was slightly amusing

I always wondered why ++ಠ-- is not possible in languages that have pre/post/in/decrement

@DankMemes It's probably a valid identifier in just about any language that supports unicode input.

10:29 PM
Actually it's Horde Faction to english.

Horde Faction?

WoW.

And I don't even play it. :P

I don't either.

10:30 PM
Ha!

WoW?
Oh!
World of Warcraft

WoW LoL

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ League of Legends?

world of legends

10:31 PM
@quartata Yes. ^_^

League of Warcraft wouldn't be a terrible title for a video game honestly.

@DankMemes WoLoLoLo...

@quartata Yes it would.

sniff

@AlexA. wand of wishing

10:32 PM
well it wouldn't if league and wow didn't exist

@Doorknob Wiggle or Waggle

@Doorknob Rodney: quartata wished for "a magic wand to make people get NetHack references" on turn 1337

:D

@DankMemes Yes. "Warcraft" is copyrighted, so some people would get pissed. Like how Bethesda sued Mojang over the use of "scrolls."

wat

10:34 PM
I don't understand anything. weeps

@AlexA. Still doesn't make sense.

@quartata For a moment, you feel something in your hands, but it disappears!

ಠ_ಠ
@Doorknob ᗡ:

@Doorknob Rodney: quartata (Tou Hum Neu Fem) was killed by the Wrath of Set on turn 1340

Who the hell is Rodney

10:35 PM
^

Rodney is #nethack's chat bot

he's also this really annoying guy who tries to steal your quest arti

And gives you mochas brewed at absolute zero.

Oh, that Rodney. </sarcasm> #stilldontgetit

I mean, really?

10:35 PM
@quartata hahaha

Is NetHack like Basements & Lizards?

you mean > and :?

I don't think I mean that

I wish the OP here would update the scores
want to see how the bot I put way too much effort into actually does

10:39 PM
For a moment, you think you understand something. But then you don't.

Who was that Maud person anyway?

this is why we need a koth server and koth leaderboard snippet

@VTCAKAVSMoACE: I'm actually having difficulty determining whether I can even do factorial. A while loop will continue until the top of stack is 0. I can build up a stack of [n,n-1,...,2,1] and multiply it together, but I have no way of knowing when it's done so I can exit just before it gets multiplied by 0.

This is why my KOTH server will come in handy. No need to wait on OP.

@Doorknob Daurnaab, Älyx, Merton, and Dęñis are mauds.

10:41 PM
@quartata halp nobody gets the Maud reference ;(

was referring to your thing @PhiNotPi

I think in fish that would be something along the lines of :i+?!\ to escape the loop, no?

...are you using the input?

Negative one - 1- looks less pretty.

So you're duplicating, subtracting one, and then checking to see if this is zero?

10:45 PM
Yeah - this is with the current value of n_k

Yeah, that's how you build the stack.
How do you multiply it all together and know when to stop? The stack has a bottomless well of 0s.

O.o I think I need to take a closer look at your language.

If I were using Befunge, I could swap the top two values and check to see if I have 0.
Befunge behaves this way too. It has a bottomless well of 0s for the stack.

My brain hurts.

@AlexA. Hourly progress report: koth-phinotpi.rhcloud.com/runkoth.pl

10:48 PM
BRB eating dinner

@PhiNotPi I suggest using ajax to periodically update the report rather than making people refresh
or even better
use long polling or websockets to have the server push updates
also the title of your page is Untitled Document

The "Report" area isn't simply printing a file though. It can be generated by, say, a program written by the KOTH author for fancy formatting or other stuff.

hmm
well some way of making the report always "up to date" would be nice

Whatever data is generated by the report program, which could be HTML with Javascript/etc. inside of it, is sent to the user.
Maybe.. I could have some kind of trigger that detects when the controller ends and prints and update...
or some other kind of trigger mechanism

I still want the site to have unicorns and rainbows...

11:02 PM
&:#v_^
-1:<^:
_v#:\<*
 < @.$
@VTCAKAVSMoACE Try this in this Befunge online interpreter.

I'm on mobile right now, so I can't. Plus, it's midnight for me, so, I might sleep soon.

11:43 PM
Reduce * in ><> could be >l1=?v* (is this what we're doing?)

Anybody else ever read this book? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Way_Things_Work
I just had a flashback to elementary school.
