I can't see it as complete anarchy though. Even though it's the same day with no physical consequences you're going to remember if your neighbor started stealing your stuff. As an employer you're going to remember that Bob still showed up till you told him he didn't have to show up. People behaving badly are going to have a very annoying time moving forward. Everyone remembers they are jerks and they'll be shot daily, etc. You could still have elections and change leaders every few years if someone was corrupt. You could divorce your spouse but still have to wake up next to them each day.

If memory can be lost as well as gained I can imagine some weird forms of crime, punishment and dictatorship based on personality-wipes. If memory and trauma is retained then if someone is broken through torture in one loop do they remain broken? Where is the line between physical acts on the brain and the effects on memories that go back with you. If you're shot in the head but survive with personality changes what personality wakes up the previous morning?

I believe "law enforcement" (including vigilante groups) would form quickly, adapting methods of punishment to the current conditions (torture at first, memory wipes later). Although a lot of crimes would get much easier with self-erasing evidence, only eyewitnesses - if someone wearing a bacalava rapes a woman half an hour before midnight, there's little that can be done to identify them.

@Murphy The only way we can really explain how this would work is with the abstract concept of a 'soul'. Only human souls persist while everything else resets. However, the problems you mention are also problems with many peoples idea of 'soul'. In the end, we have to rely on suspension of disbelief.

Thinking about crime and punishment: While people may still try to enforce house arrest as punishment, it's complicated by the fact that peoples locations are reset everyday. This can give some people an incredible advantage of being impossible to secure/detain. Remoteness: Though as Samuel says, being too remote (i.e. having few or no people within 24 hours travel) could or, more likely, would drive them insane.

You can think of the whole thing as functioning similarly to a noun phrase, even if the range of functions isn't actually identical, but the key insight is that internally it has the form of a clause, not a noun phrase. Think of it as an internal-external distinction

I asked this a while ago, but I will try again (because I think the question was poorly worded). If I have an electric wire with the assumed resistance 0 (theoretically), connected to two points with different potential energies, I've heard that the voltage between two points in the wire can be seen as 0 V. However, considering that the electric field within such a wire can be considered homogeneous, the force acting on the charge is constant throughout the wire.

@Max To use the standard-ish analogy: Imagine you have two pools of water filled to different heights, so that are being constantly replenished to keep the height. This represents potential. Connect the two pools of water with a pipe at the bottom. The larger the pipe, the higher the conductivity, so the smaller the resistance. If you make the pipe infinitely big, i.e. you just make one pool, how can that pool be at two different heights at the same time?

@tchrist Yes, and their solution will ultimately be to worsen education. They just want to pay less money to working people so that the rich can skim more off the top.

@zeffii Between my experencie here and the GD.SE chat, watercooler or not, meaningful decisions and choices are made here. Furthermore our the queues are not so full that moderators can't waste a moment. I still believe the candidates chat activity would be good. Having a diamond next to your name gives you a lot of power and respect. Some users around here could use that beneficially.

You can think of the whole thing as functioning similarly to a noun phrase, even if the range of functions isn't actually identical, but the key insight is that internally it has the form of a clause, not a noun phrase. Think of it as an internal-external distinction

So we find the head takes verb-like complementation, adverbial modification, no determiner, can't inflect like a noun, etc.

"showing them vertically as a "file name Labels + delete Buttons" list." I'd use a JList or a JTable for showing the files, perhaps with a single JButton below to Delete Selected Files. See the File Browser GUI for how elegantly files can be represented in a Swing based JTable (or a JTree!). — Andrew Thompson 32 secs ago

@flawr It's up to you. The main motivation for having two separate thread for Cops and Robbers is so that the Robbers can submit answers as opposed to comments. Since everyone in CTC is going to submit an answer either way, it doesn't matter.

Q: How can a smoke domain be hidden from render?

stackerIn the 3D-View everything looks like expected: But when rendered the smoke domain covers the whole scene. I tried to place camera inside and outside of the smoke domain but this doesn't work either.
