@Vikas I remember visiting Washington DC Metro back in the 80's when they were brand new, and I only just saw them again in the past couple years and they are all still beautifully modern. Chicago's are like Boston's, some stops (above or below ground) are rehabilitated, some look like they are still from the 19th century.
It's all about how the budget is managed, lots are needed to just run the trains, and little is left over for improvement.
I'm pretty sure around the world such systems are mostly supported by local taxes, and fares only contribute a small percentage, like under 20% (I'm guessing)

@CowperKettle That's a good computer security discussion. Worth knowing the potential issues and then audit all IoT devices operating in our homes. I raised the issue before here. I may need to do a pentest to disallow any incoming VNC-like requests although I need to be careful not to shoot myself in the foot for my own legitimate remote desktop access.

It's surely unreliable, but the hypothesis is curious. I'll do a search for papers linking cases of intermittend claudication with endothelial NO-associated function.
Ten years ago, that really stumped me - how could a mild hypothyroidism produce such a symptom, and how could this symptom vanish so quickly.
No matter whom I asked in these years, nobody could explain this.
I know that myopathy for certain develops only in cases of very severe hypothyroidism.
So ChatGPT must be hallucinating.
What if my body somehow produces little eNOS-derived NO? I wonder.
Because.. my life is full of ultra-weird occurrences.
Before starting on microdoses of insulin, I could hardly run 2 km.
But now I know that I had no diabetes.
And then, sifting the literature, I came across studies showing that glulisine promotes eNOS-derived production of nitric oxide.
I tried ditching glulisine, but a week later I had to stop twice during the ParkRun, a weird thing.
Even though I was well-trained and ate a lot of honey just prior to running.
But I had to stop and walk a bit.
So I wondered. Then I resumed microdosing on insulin, and started finishing in the first 20% of runners as usual.
But I know for sure now that I have no diabetes at all.
