
Kumbh Mela () is an important Hindu pilgrimage, celebrated approximately every 3, 6, 12 and 144 years, for each revolution of Brihaspati, attracting the largest recorded public gatherings of Hindus and the largest human gathering on Earth. Kumbh is held at four riverside pilgrimage sites, namely: Prayagraj (Ganges-Yamuna-Sarasvati rivers confluence), Haridwar (Ganges), Nashik (Godavari), and Ujjain (Shipra). In 2022, after a 700 year break, Bansberia (Hooghly), hosted the pilgrimage again.
