Word of the morn: proteolethargy
> “Proteolethargy” is when proteins get stuck in chemical traffic jams instead of zipping around

A man received a package weighing exactly 2.2lbs, opened it and immediately died.
It was a kilogram.

Oh, and they often keep doing CrossFit after leaving the hospital because CrossFit is a cult.
Can this cause brain damage, and if so does it explain Marjorie Taylor Greene?
@alphabet wow, how intense is it that it causes "rhabdo"?
@alphabet no that's Dipshit Syndrome, totally different thing
Rhabdomyolysis doesn't get to the stage of brain damage because acute renal failure first kills the heart. Left untreated the patient dies before any neurological manifestations present themselves.
I mean I suppose if you reverse it late but not too late, the brain could suffer a bit from hypoxia
Genes are also still important. A misplaced allele here and there makes people more susceptible to releasing myoglobin from muscle.
@alphabet well that's six cases of rhabdo and I suspect during the same period 600 torn ligaments would be reported, so my point still stands

@M.A.R. Just you wait, Trump's gonna have Tulsi Gabbard prove the space lasers are real.

I'm trying to send a postcard since September, to a woman I know, but can't focus my attention on this. This may sound strange, but it's true. I could not explain it to the psychotherapist yesterday, because when I'm talking face to face, I'm communicating alright, but once at home by myself, I'm randomly reading something non-stop.
Maybe as a way to distract myself from anxiety, if CBT is to be believed.
I'm afraid these techniques work if you are fully capable of remembering them and kind of shaking yourself out of an affect-filled state.
I wish there were tests to determine who is capable of following these techniques

@jlliagre Not my best work.
Meanwhile, cycling beckons.

@Robusto I just reported the "K km" ugliness to Teuteuf Games. Let's see if they restore the previous format.
@CowperKettle it makes me anxious trying to remember all the possible ways to reduce anxiety.

I'm sure that if dutifully applied each one of those methods would appreciably manage anxiety..
But...
Doing them, or creating the habit to do them is not like taking a pill... Takes practice and motivation and encouragement.
Just start with one, like very simple breathing

Phrase of the day: from asshole to appetite
@M.A.R. She's...a lot. I don't even know where to start. Trump wants her to oversee the CIA and NSA.
19:57
@alphabet . . . Wow, Trump is really trolling 340 million Americans.
Russia's mouthpiece as the head of intelligence, an anti-vaxxer as head of HHS, what's next?
A fossil fuel cartel boss as the head of renewable energy?
Une injustice, où qu'elle se produise, est une menace pour la justice partout ailleurs.

@jlliagre It wouldn't be so ugly if they didn't mix up K with < K numbers.

@Mitch I'm afraid of opening letters and making calls. I've been afraid of opening one letter from a runner friend which he sent back in the summer. It's still unread.
Similarly with job vacancies. I keep creating Word files with list of vacancies, and do not contact the companies.
I'm afraid.
And I can't decide.
And I haven't been able to send a postcard since September, despite thinking of it every day.
I can't focus. Bouts of emotion break the mind.

@M.A.R. As I understand it, 80-90% of the Department of Energy's job is maintaining the nuclear weapons stockpile; everyone just assumes from the title that it mostly involves "energy" of other forms.
