to be emotionally prepared to say something to not be emotionally prepared to say something to be emotionally prepared to do something to not be emotionally prepared to do something
I see, so when you say something and the emotions that you feel because of that are ones that you were not prepared to feel, then you were not emotionally prepared to say something
Among friends, we describe a person as "so random" (he/she is so random) if that person says random things (often in group discussions). That is, we do not use it as defined below (i.e., he/she is "so odd").
random (informal, LDOCE #3):
strange, unusual, or unexpected
She's great - she'...
@Cerberus yeah I really don't know, either. You know you could just as easily argue the exact opposite point.
Lots of things can be used as toilet paper. Kitchen paper. Paper handkerchiefs and wet paper tissues. Newspapers. Books. Leaves from the garden.
And quite a few cultures don't wipe their asses to begin with. They properly wash them every single time. There's something to be sad for that, actually.
Spaghetti, on the other hand, it's just spaghetti. Yes you can cook them fifty different ways, but in the end all you have is spaghetti. Good luck eating that for even just a week. You'll go insane.
I think it really comes down to self-perpetuating feedback.
Everyone is buying toilet paper because everyone is buying toilet paper.
You go to the store, and there's none left, and you think gee, I only have three rolls left myself. So the next time you go to the store and they have any toilet paper at all, you buy ten times the amount you normally would.
Especially seeing how you only go to the store once a week now and not twice a day.
@CowperKettle I read it as involved more in school in a positive manner? That is one could be considered to be involved more in school if one is attending detention after school everyday (a punishment for unruly behavior which is basically sitting in a class all afternoon with no instruction).
So positive involvement is things like athletic (sports like football or basketball) or academic teams (chess club, school newspaper) or arts (like dance or theater) after school but at school.
Attendance at those are easily assessed. (as opposed to 'has general good feelings' or 'has friends they like at school')
