@Cerberus A camel is better than Trump.
@DanielRigg Try blurt.
I think the site layout has reached some kind of singularity.
Nice tag, tho.
@DanielRigg we'd need context. Could be anything from "non sequitur" to "brainfart" to "Tourette".
@DanielRigg that one is just the sum of its parts. Which of the words involved do you specifically find confusing.

And what does it mean ''to be or not be emotionally prepared to say or do something''? someone please answer this question
11 hours ago, by RegDwigнt
@DanielRigg that one is just the sum of its parts. Which of the words involved do you specifically find confusing.
look I just don't really know what it means so please just explain what it means
but I don't understand what you don't understand. where do you get tripped up?
please explain what it means please
to be
or not to be
emotionally prepared
to say
or do something
12:43
no that's not the explanation I want
but I don't understand what you don't understand
do you understand what "to be" means?
I'll go through a bit a time time, but you need to tell me what you don't understand
does it mean you have not thought carefully about what you are saying?
no. it seems like a definition of some kind
to be emotionally prepared to say something
to not be emotionally prepared to say something
to be emotionally prepared to do something
to not be emotionally prepared to do something
okay then just explain what it really means please
that's what it means
12:48
I said that's not the explanation I want
well I can't tell you what you want to hear if you can't tell me what you don't understand. is there further context around that that you can give
I've linked to the definition of each word
@DanielRigg Are you "emotionally prepared to say" that the coronavirus will wipe out all of mankind?
then you understand the meaning :-)
to be emotionally prepared comes from emotions of anxiety,nervousness,stress,etc?
12:56
emotional preparation comes from emotions
What's the context? Link? Text around that where you found it?
you are preparing your emotions
@skullpatrol you said it means you have not thought carefully about what you are saying.
@DanielRigg it's actually a bit confusing so we are not able to give a straightforward answer
@DanielRigg In this case it means you have not thought carefully about what you are feeling
12:59
@skullpatrol nice
@Mitch :-) thanks pal
I see, so when you say something and the emotions that you feel because of that are ones that you were not prepared to feel, then you were not emotionally prepared to say something
I think that's the idea...
13:39
@M.A.R. OMG that was fast. It was only last year that...

What is a forward behaviour?
> - ready, prompt, or eager.
- presumptuous, impertinent, or bold: a rude, forward child.
is a forward behaviour bad?
@Cerberus
hello?
Probably.
You can look up the meanings of the words in the given definitions.
16:06
what words that mean ''to say something random''?
@DanielRigg what do you think?
4
Q: An adjective to replace "so random" (to describe one who is apt to say random things)

KannEAmong friends, we describe a person as "so random" (he/she is so random) if that person says random things (often in group discussions). That is, we do not use it as defined below (i.e., he/she is "so odd"). random (informal, LDOCE #3): strange, unusual, or unexpected She's great - she'...

How do you pronounce the surname Frangou?
I'm translating an article into Russian
fran-goo?

Apparently the accent on alpha means "sound extremely shocked"

Statewide confinement starting 00:00. Yay!
@Cerberus yeah I really don't know, either. You know you could just as easily argue the exact opposite point.
Lots of things can be used as toilet paper. Kitchen paper. Paper handkerchiefs and wet paper tissues. Newspapers. Books. Leaves from the garden.
And quite a few cultures don't wipe their asses to begin with. They properly wash them every single time. There's something to be sad for that, actually.
Spaghetti, on the other hand, it's just spaghetti. Yes you can cook them fifty different ways, but in the end all you have is spaghetti. Good luck eating that for even just a week. You'll go insane.
I think it really comes down to self-perpetuating feedback.
Everyone is buying toilet paper because everyone is buying toilet paper.
You go to the store, and there's none left, and you think gee, I only have three rolls left myself. So the next time you go to the store and they have any toilet paper at all, you buy ten times the amount you normally would.
Especially seeing how you only go to the store once a week now and not twice a day.
@RegDwigнt Can't blame 'em for being human
The real culprit is no one used to be aware of their surroundings, now everyone is too aware
We've been used to overreacting to small signs of distant danger. Now there are too many signs
It's like an adrenaline overdose
In that it's . . . uh, an overdose

@M.A.R. Thank you!
> Similarly, positive school involvement was protective against suicidal ideation (OR, 0.8; 95% CI, 0.7 – 0.9).
I wonder what "positive school involvement" means.
@M.A.R. I never knew that you know Greek
Does it mean "positive experience that a child has in school"?
But how to assess that?

1 hour later…
20:34
@CowperKettle I read it as involved more in school in a positive manner? That is one could be considered to be involved more in school if one is attending detention after school everyday (a punishment for unruly behavior which is basically sitting in a class all afternoon with no instruction).
So positive involvement is things like athletic (sports like football or basketball) or academic teams (chess club, school newspaper) or arts (like dance or theater) after school but at school.
Attendance at those are easily assessed. (as opposed to 'has general good feelings' or 'has friends they like at school')
21:04
what does it mean to ''say something in an unguarded moment''?
21:24
@DanielRigg I suppose the question is about the word unguarded.
Adjective: unguarded (comparative more unguarded, superlative most unguarded)
  1. Having no guard or protection; vulnerable.
  2. The unguarded gatehouse was soon taken by the invading army.
  3. Displaying a lack of caution or thought.
  4. I let out her secret in an unguarded moment.
> 2. Displaying a lack of caution or thought.
"I let out her secret in an unguarded moment."
Official names:
SARS-CoV-2 is the virus that causes COVID-19

What words mean ''to say something unexpectedly''?
22:55
Blurt out. Exclaim. Interrupt. Speak up.
21 hours ago, by RegDwigнt
@DanielRigg we'd need context. Could be anything from "non sequitur" to "brainfart" to "Tourette".
23:27
and what are the causes to say something unexpectedly?
23:46
