@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 I have upticked it before even getting back to the chat. Now post your cookies.

@Vitaly Look in your browser.
user19161

Q: Spelling: vacuum and vacumn

matt wilkieMy brain and fingers are convinced the correct spelling of vacuum is actually vacumn. Not trusting MS-Word's or Firefox's suggestion of the former I looked around the net for validation of my default, and found none. Indeed, I only find common use of my preferred spelling in classified ads and eb...

Цфы шые вфы,
Um. I mean,
Was ist das?

Poor spelling is poor spelling. There is no reason for it.
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 No, no, the ones that start with se-usr, seuser and so on.
SE-USSR?
South-Eastern USSR?
Ecce USSR.
So when you're near me, darling can't you hear me, Esso-ass?
user19161
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Ah, we have Esso here too. It's the gas!
user19161
19:06
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 No darlings in chat.
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Esso-asozialität?
@JasperLoy yeah I looked around and noticed.
Uh, people are so blind and silly. I wrote a very nice and complete and whatnot answer, only one plus one (=two)?
@Vitaly Hermann Esse.
I mean, sorry, Germann Esse.
Let's cry.
What the hell Esse?
19:08
Ich esse.
user19161
@Vitaly I watched the movie Siddhartha.
@Vitaly nonono, that's the wrong Hesse.
Oh, that.
I know him in person.
Not now that you edited him.
It's still the same Hesse.
making everyone else on EL&U make no sense since 2011
19:10
Hesse denn, Hesse denn, zum Städtele hinaus?
rausgehen?
@Vitaly I guess you meant till 2011? Or what?
user19161
Does anyone here think that fonts look nicer in Chrome than FF?
Everything looks nicer on Chrome.
user19161
19:12
Of course, one needs to have the same font settings to make a fair comparison.
HEY! I deserve more upvotes.
Everything looks nicer on drugs.
user19161
I am not on drugs.
You $##@!$$^%$# users.
user19161
Now I need to flag Gigili.
19:13
Chroming fonts is old. Gold-plated fonts are all the rage these days.
user19161
She just wrote an extremely vulgar sentence.
Interestingly enough, that nonsense got four upvotes.
@Vit BTW now using Duncan + Artemis Tank and 2 Rally Flags. Still only 43 points each time.
I guess they've lost their mind.
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 You are the kind of bee who hangs out around filling stations. An Esso bee.
19:14
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Have you seen my Orbo screenshot?
Oh. No.
I thought about Orbo.

user19161
@Vitaly I think gold is very ugly. Those gold watches look terrible. Only people with poor taste wear them.
@Vitaly lulz
I sure hope he'll remember it for at least as long as you.
@RegDwightB8, @Vitaly: I hereby resign from Phantom Commando. I can't muster the interest to even look at the game again. Sorry. Good luck.
user19161
19:15
I think the difference in font appearance might be due to font hinting and antialiasing.
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 :D
@Robusto yeah I'm on my way out as well.
Got to level 150 yesterday. Another pointless card.
user19161
Good. Why play games when ELU is the greatest game?
Now playing Paladog.
I thought I'd bring that up. Got Heracles yesterday, I could as well have some fun mercing.
But…
10K LP in a Level-12 faction makes the Artemis drop rate equivalent to that of a Level-15 faction.
IIRC.
19:17
I tried to click on the link to go there several times in the past couple of weeks at home when I had nothing to do, and I just couldn't do it. Actually, I did click once, but then I cancelled.
@JasperLoy What, you can hunt human beings in ELU now? Awesome!
I thought about joining The Retirement Home, as you will remember, but I think I'm even past that point now. Might as well just go cold turkey.
OMG, I've never seen too many stupid people at once.
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Yeah. My stay in the hospital broke me of the habit. Now the thought of it makes me puke.
user19161
@Gigili Where? You should not call people stupid. They might flag you.
So while you two are in the middle of the Who-Hates-Tyrant-Most contest, I'm gonna get me some tea. BRB.
19:19
@Gigili Where do you live that doesn't have too many stupid people at once?
@JasperLoy Math.SE
@Robusto well it was fun back in the day. Thanks for playing, GG, etc.
Ayup.
user19161
@Robusto Actually, humans are all stupid. QED.
Besides, Diablo III is out and I can't even muster enough interest to play that. My character is stalled at level 25. Boring.
I need a hi-res of that.
user19161
@MrShinyandNew安宇 Amazing! I happened to see that Escher pic before.
You broke my brain.
Seriously they should make that a kit :)
user19161
@Robusto It was already broken when you spelled "disfunction".
19:22
@Robusto I haven't had a night out for weeks, that's why.
I already have all the pieces that I can see. But not all minifigs.
@JasperLoy I won't flag you, but please be more careful next time.
I don't buy Star Wars sets. Well, not many anyway.
user19161
@Gigili Thanks, I grant you a night out as your reward.
19:24
Oh yeah. A golden C3PO. Don't have that one.
Or do I?
Geez I have too much stuff.
@JasperLoy That pleases you more than me.
user19161
I am now wondering about the relationship between gee, geez and geezis.
Anyhow. Now we just need to make Kosmo a mod again, then I can take a break from ELU as well.
Yeah, that'll happen.
Going to Turkey soon anyway.
19:26
@JasperLoy Stop wondering, you'll hurt yourself.
user19161
@Gigili I am already hurt beyond repair.
@JasperLoy The relationship between gee, geez, and geezis is that between pee, peas, and pieces.
user19161
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Wow, this will be starred.
user19161
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 It's awesome!
19:27
Better star this line here. It's just as crap as anything I produce.
user19161
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Sometimes I think whether I want to run for mod, but then I think better not.
@Reg I wouldn't mind 6 more Artemis Generators for Longshot, and then I guess we can disband.
@JasperLoy then you'll have to change your gravatar into a viscacha, and watch shit hit the fan. There are better things to do with a Sunday morning.
How many times can I upvote my own answers as a mod?
user19161
@Gigili Zero. Elementary.
19:29
@Vitaly faced that thing yesterday. It was annoying.
user19161
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 But shouldn't we call for mod elections soon? It seems we need more mods.
@JasperLoy you can ask on meta I guess.
Me, I have no idea.
user19161
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 We only have three, and we are quite big. I think we need two more to make it five.
user19161
That will help all mods have more time for themselves on Sunday mornings.
@JasperLoy we have 3 mods?
user19161
19:32
@MrShinyandNew安宇 Er, yes. Reg, waiwai and nohat.
We have like two dozen mods.
@JasperLoy Don't forget the complacencies of the peignoir.
user19161
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 The rest lack superpowers.
@JasperLoy Well, I never see any activity from waiwai or nohat
Well perhaps not two dozen. One.
user19161
19:34
@MrShinyandNew安宇 You can't see them handling flags for example.
user19161
So we really should not judge a mod according to what we can see because there are many things we cannot see.
@JasperLoy No but shouldn't I see them closing or deleting questions?
You can't see them deleting comments, either.
Handling flags can be done by a two yo child.
user19161
19:35
@MrShinyandNew安宇 Well, maybe they don't want to cast a binding vote.
@Gigili Hey, I have a two year old child
Maybe he can be a mod
I'll vote for him.

We believe deeply in community moderation. That’s why we appoint Pro Tempore Moderators and, ideally, democratically elected community moderators for every site in our network. But what do community moderators do? The short answer is, as little as possible!

From the very first version of Stack Overflow faq way back in mid-2008, our goal has always been to give power back to the community:

Stack Overflow is run by you! If you want to help us run Stack Overflow, you’ll need reputation first. Reputation is a (very) rough measurement of how much the Stack Overflow community trusts you. R …

@JasperLoy They are mods. They should not be afraid to act.
user19161
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Or worse, editing people's chat messages!
19:36
> But what do community moderators do? The short answer is, as little as possible!
user19161
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 From the horse's mouth.
@Gigili problem is that you have to be 13 to be on this site, because of the COPPA law, which doesn't actually apply to my son since he's Canadian, and it's a bit of a dumb law, but TL;DR he'd get banned.
In fact I ran on the promise of handing more and more stuff over to the community.
So far I have failed to deliver.
But I do plan to.
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Well, there are many reasons why you are called to act as much as you are. However: the point is that day in and day out I see lots of actions from you and pretty much nothing from nohat or waiwai. Granted: waiwai was appointed during a "crisis". But I also don't see any blog wrangling and that's something else he volunteered for. The blog is defunct.
Well first of all, he volunteered. He didn't sign a contract.
user19161
19:39
@MrShinyandNew安宇 Well, maybe there should not be a blog in the first place. What else is there to write?
Second of all, I never volunteered in the first place.
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Who is your Jaime Escalante?
@Vitaly pardon?
user19161
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 You did not volunteer to be mod?
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Of course, he's a volunteer. Fine. But don't volunteer if you don't want to do it.
19:40
@MrShinyandNew安宇 They won't notice him noticing you noticing me? They won't notice he's two unless they have age recognition system and whatnot.
Stand and Deliver is a 1988 American drama film, based on the true story of high school math teacher, Jaime Escalante. Edward James Olmos portrayed Escalante in the film and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. The film was added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress in 2011. Plot In the area of East Los Angeles, California, in 1982, in an environment that values a quick fix over education and learning, Jaime Escalante is a new teacher at Garfield High School determined to change the system and challenge the students to a higher level of achievement. L...
Yeah I'm on that page already.
user19161
@Vitaly I think the teachers here suck.
@JasperLoy I never volunteered to write blogs.
Like, the blog: I volunteered to write with the expectation of doing a few posts a year. Almost nobody else who volunteered even delivered one post. It's hard to stay motivated when Matt and I are the only ones writing.
user19161
19:42
@MrShinyandNew安宇 Luckily, I did not volunteer. Phew!
We can open a new meta post looking for new contributors.
I am sure many people are not even aware we have a blog.
user19161
And also one looking for new mods.
user19161
I am sure many people are not even aware of how many mods there are.
@Vitaly so. Um. I still don't quite understand.
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 At this point I've lost interest too much to open a meta post.
19:43
Fair enough.
user19161
There was a mod on math who did not log in for months and months until people really wondered if he was dead.
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Never mind.
@JasperLoy did he get to keep his privileges?
I'm not sure how quickly Kosmo lost his. Though I can look it up.
user19161
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 I just checked. He has no more diamond. I did not follow all the developments after that though.
@JasperLoy Who? Qubic something or Mariano?
user19161
19:47
@RegDwightΒВBẞ8 Is there an automatic system to lose the diamond?
No idea. I doubt it.
user19161
@Gigili Robin Chapman. We even joked about his obituary.
@MrShinyandNew安宇 Wow, that's crazy awesome.
user19161
I just cast 14 delete votes, yay!
user19161
Yo @corn!

The Tuskegee syphilis experiment (also known as the Tuskegee syphilis study or Public Health Service syphilis study) was an infamous clinical study conducted between 1932 and 1972 in Tuskegee, Alabama by the U.S. Public Health Service to study the natural progression of untreated syphilis in poor, rural black men who thought they were receiving free health care from the U.S. government. The Public Health Service, working with the Tuskegee Institute, began the study in 1932. Investigators enrolled in the study a total of 600 impoverished, African-American sharecroppers from Macon County, ...
