I frankly don't agree with this at all. I think the quality of the 't' in "tree" and "tee" are identical, very aspirated, no 'ch' palatalization. But I'm no phonetician. so I feel like the best I could give is a comment, not an answer.
@GiantCowFilms I may e having the native speaker problem of not seeing things. but 'chree' (which is hard to say) and 'tree' (which is easy) are similar but it's still [tʃrij] and [trij] respectively
