@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 seriously? Dang. I am talking about eye color here. In this context is it safe to not capitalize it?
@Thomas I think no caps is better. I left the caps in because you had it originally and I didn't think too hard about it.
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 It is my personal statement for med school...so I am obviously a bit neurotic about it haha
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying.
no prob. good luck.
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Thanks! Have a safe day.

@Jez Hi! Say something insensitive!
@tchrist I always read these as if they are legitimate attempts at answers that just somehow don't quite get to the point.
It's a pretty obvious metaphor. Nuts cause allergies. Pretty self-explanatory. — Mitch 16 secs ago

@Mitch Gay black prostitute woman!
user116848
Hi cerberus. How are you doing?
user116848
@Cerberus you there?
Hi!
I am now.
user116848
So what do you think? :)
user116848
22:34
About why I don't get a good girl? That is.
user116848
lol
@Cerberus Considering how craftily you’ve omitted her creed, manual orientation, marital status, medical record, pregnancy status, national origin or ancestry, primary language, literacy status, veteran status, ethnicity, age, disabilities physical and mental, criminal record, economic status, age, height, weight, hourly/nightly/weekly pay rates, customary discounts, subcontractor status, and union membership, you’re clearly hiding something important about her: ¿WHAT IS IT, REALLY?
user116848
@Cerberus :??
@Arrowfar Perhaps because you’re actually looking for a nice girl instead of for a good girl, and just don’t know it. Have you considered trying your luck with a chaotic-neutral girl instead? I have it on good authority that they’re rather easier to come by than both the other two combined.
user116848
@tchrist What's chaotic-neutral girl ??
22:40
In the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) fantasy role-playing game, alignment is a categorization of the ethical (Law/Chaos axis) and moral (Good/Evil axis) perspective of people, creatures and societies. The earliest edition of D&D allowed players to choose among three alignments when creating a character: Lawful, implying honor and respect for society's rules; chaotic, implying the opposite; and neutral, meaning neither. Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) introduced a second axis of Good, Neutral and Evil, offering a combination of nine alignments. The D&D Basic Set retained the system of thre...
Of course, a committed professional is trained to play multiple NPC rôles as the occasion rises.
> A Chaotic Neutral character is an individualist who follows his or her own heart, and generally shirks rules and traditions. Although they promote the ideals of freedom, it is their own freedom that comes first. Good and Evil come second to their need to be free, and the only reliable thing about them is how totally unreliable they are.
> Captain Jack Sparrow, Al Swearengen from the TV series Deadwood, and Snake Plissken from Escape from New York are Chaotic Neutral characters according to Complete Scoundrel.
user116848
@tchrist So I guess you have "chaotic-neutral" someone special too?
Ranular dissection now complete.
@Arrowfar I have two: Lorin and Randy.
user116848
Wow:) Good for you
user116848
Any tips and pointers for me?
@Arrowfar Yes: be wary of marital advice offered by celibate priests.
user116848
22:47
@tchrist So you date 'neutral figures' not always go for good?
Jun 13 at 2:01, by tchrist
Went to the vet today for vaccinations. Randy at 11 months old now weighs in at 9 pounds 9 ounces and is 34" long. Lorin at 10 months old now weighs in at 8 pounds even and is 31" long. Also, Randy had much longer legs than Lorin, so stands taller, jumps farther, stretches longer.
user116848
Congratulations Pal
No day goes by but that one or the other or both brings me some token of his affection for me, be it anguine, murine, passerine, or sphingine.
@Cerberus How come the Ancient Greeks couldn’t tell a sparrow from an ostrich?
23:15
@tchrist She speaks good Latin.
@tchrist Couldn't they? Does their superlevel have a common name in Greek?
Sounds cute, but ostracize has no etymologic connection with ostrich! Per the OED ostracize is “ad Gr. ὁστρακίζειν, f. ὅστρακον earthen vessel, tile, potsherd” — whereas ostrich is “ME. ostrice, ‑iche, a. OFr. ostruce, ‑uche, mod.Fr. autruche = Sp. avestruz, Pg. abestruz :– pop.L. avis strūthio, avistrūthio, from avis bird + late L. strūthio, ad. Gr. στρουθίων ostrich, f. στρουθός sparrow, ostrich; In classical Gr. the bird was called commonly ὁ μέγας στρουθός, or simply στρουθός; also στρουθοκάμηλος, whence the cl.L. strūthiocamēlus struthiocamel.” — tchrist 2 mins ago
So otrouthos was both sparrow and ostrich?
I see.
I know little about the names of plants and animals.
But why you were thinking of ostracize is beyond me...
@Arrowfar As I said, I'd like to see a picture of you smiling a bit more than in that picture. In natural daylight, possibly when it's sunny outside.
Hmm is toeëigenen correct? My spelling corrector didn't like it.
It wanted toe-eigenen.
23:45
@Cerberus So apparently θάλασσα is not really a Greek word. Nor was Athena originally a Greek goddess.
There are hypotheses about substrate languages...
Like huakinthos.
Nov 9 '13 at 2:46, by Robusto
Our old cat, Bones, was fat at 13 lbs. Shadow is lean at 14 lbs.
@Cerberus Apparently all the -ossos and -inthos place names are not of Hellenic origin.
Yeah. Well, it's an hypothesis, as far as I know.
And there are probably more...
@tchrist Yes, just as it has no connection with Ostrogoths. Or Oster kitchen products.
Nor Easter.
23:50
Or East Anglia.
Oyster Rikes?
Or Australia.
By the way, it was you who told me a new sentence or afterthought ought to begin with nor.
Which I have faithfully put into practice.
@Cerberus When was this?
Nor is underused.
23:51
Nor do I deny that.
Ah, your memory playing up again. Do I have to remember everything in this room??
No. Just the things I require of you.
You required me to do this.
Yes. I did.
> Thalassa or thalatta, the former or the latter?
Here’s a legal nor sentence that blows NNS minds: I expect nor require any response to this notice.
It’s OED nor sense 3a, FTR.
23:59
Nor fenced, nor staked, the gushers of the sky
Spout to the rod
Divining in a smile the oil of tears.
