@KitFox which?
@MετάEd why do they suspect a dead guy?
@Robusto Yes, I can't say I was shocked.
00:41
@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 They killed him at the scene.
Good evening!
@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 they add "deceased" on the photo after he dies
00:54
If you feel like you're spending too much time on the sunny side of the street, you can always check out Doug Stanhope's Celebrity Death Pool.
@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 Samsung S3.
My husband and I traded pictures and music.
It was totally geeky fun.

The flood warnings just expired 20 minutes ago. Finally.
Well, for me.
The surge is moving relentless east.

Q: Above, Over Usage

federaSuppose I imagine a vertical circular column of space extending infinitely in the up and down directions, with the cross section just big enough to circumscribe the head of a standing person. Let's call this the head column. If a person raise his hands so that they are at a level higher than hig...

@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 is this the troll we've had those meta posts about? How could you tell?
Ah, OK, how do you guys recognize him? We've been struggling with one over on Unix&Linux the past few days and I've gotten pretty good at recognizing him.
@terdon really!
There's usually a 'could it be' question in there.
02:14
OK, damn I quite liked the rigorous nature of the description in that question
Yeah, I've seen a few of those ~=~=
That's a huge giveaway.
He often bookends his post with questions.
OK, and what is the toxicity level here?
Ours starts spewing garbage about americans killing everyone and corruption and god and heaven and all sorts of inane ramblings
O_O
I'm not sure he ever did that here.
Not the same one then, he does the same on Physics, Philosophy, U&L and I don't remember where else, believe me you'd know.
02:46
Evening. Again :-)
Evening!
How are you?
@Kit see if you like the new picture.
Please.
I'm doing well! Had a really yummy cuppa earlier, that was nice. You?
Better than earlier.
Went to the eye doctor and found out that work has been giving me eyestrain.
My left eye has ceased to be astigmatic, so he gave me a lens to wear this week.
Oh! Ceasure of astigmatism is nice.
My vision gets worse every year.
After that, I went to jump start Boyfriend's car.
Mine used to.
Yeah, contacts get cheaper. :)
Had some tasty noms, though.
Got some flags.
02:55
Mm, noms.
I need some noms.
Eh, later.
Can't be bothered right now, frankly!
Also, I have my eyes on the Crossland CC1 machine, for in the future.
It's actually affordable, and is pretty damn good, too.
Innit purdy?
It's nothing too special in terms of aesthetic, but it's got everything. A PID, a non-pressurized portafilter (to be swapped out for a bottomless), a powerful steam wand…
03:02
So exciting!
I've already got a grinder, so that's taken care of.
Baratza Virtuoso.
Not the absolute best for espresso, but hey. It'll do.
I mean, if people are using Encores for espresso…
And then I'd get that and use it instead of the regular portafilter.
In hopes of this happening, someday.
Also, easier to troubleshoot that way. It'll let you know if you've got an uneven tamp, that's for sure.
Spray all over the place.
@Mahnax it's... it's beautiful
Can you use a bottomless on any machine?
Well, not the one you linked.
@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 Eh, depends.
You have to get a portafilter that fits your machine. There's different sizes and some have different lips.
03:29
OK, time to go eat. Bye!
04:00
I'm back, and I have oatmeal. Mm.
With coconut milk and brown sugar.
04:28
@Mahnax enjoy
Guys, what is the difference between these two following sentences?
For example instead of saying
In my laboratory there is a blue cabinet where old equipment is stored.
You can say
In my laboratory there is a blue cabinet in which old equipment is stored.
And why would following sentence incorrect?

"Numerous recreational activities are offered at JJade Panglao Resort, making it the perfect place where to spend the spend the holiday with family and friends."
05:09
@JasonMarsh those two "lab" sentences are pretty much the same, but the first is more likely because that's what you'd speak. The 2nd one sounds more formal. The "numerous" sentence is wrong. 'where to spend' <- drop the 'where'
also reorder the sentence, put subject first: JJade P. Resort offers n. rec. activities, making it the perfect ... the original is in passive form, not so good, IMO ...
Yeah, I know. Sorry about the second sentence, it contains some typos XD...I didn't realise it
It was from a brochure but I copied it down incorrectly.
05:38
@JasonMarsh are you British or Canadian?
I'm Korean, why?
No British or Canadian would ask such questions.

Stack Overflow officially launched on September 15, 2008. In five short years, you’ve answered over 5 million questions on more than 100 sites, and helped hundreds of millions of people find the answers they needed. Today, we want to celebrate how, together, we changed one small corner of the Internet for the better.

We want to hear your stories about how someone on Stack Exchange helped you.

Before it went into beta, stackoverflow.com had a comic on the landing page that came to symbolize what we were setting out to do: …

@JasonMarsh you said "realise" instead of "realize"
Oh
I think it's because although I live in Korea, I live like British people. I think that's the reason.
Even my name is British.
yes, it makes sense

Hello everybody
Hello onebody
ok ok got it. Whats up ?
I am new here, interested to learn to speak english better.
there's a site for that!

order comments by highest rated. even on the BBC site, every single one of the top 20 is against the veil
but of course the BBC will continue to ignore the vast majority and present the issue as if a significant number of people who don't have their heads up their own asses really want to give Islam special opt-outs
I agree with Shaista Gohir, chair of Muslim Women's Network UK. She seems reasonable
Jez
Jez
> Women and girls should not be pressured to conform - it's important they make autonomous choices about their lives and their bodies including what to wear and not wear. For this reason I oppose a complete ban of the face veil.
yeah, except that in realpolitik, get real. parents/faith schools are imposing the veil on them. under no circumstance are they making their own autonomous decisions
that sounds like hearsay at best
Jez
Jez
more like reason
how are they going to decide whether to wear it?
How they feel
Jez
Jez
10:16
how is how they feel about it going to be determined?
How they live their life
Jez
Jez
and how is that going to be determined?
> The vast majority of the 1.4 million Muslim women in Britain do not even wear the face veil, as it is not considered a religious obligation.
Jez
Jez
"Islam is not rigid and is flexible"
so she's also a liar
or ignorant of Islam
I agree that Islam doesn't dictate that woman wear the veil, it's more like dressing "modestly"
although it probably says that because of the idea that women are men's property and the man doesn't want his property violated because another man couldn't help himself if she dressed too sexily

1 hour later…
11:26
It doesnt matter what Islam dictates. It's a person's personal choice and shouldnt be forced by goverments and socieities. Next time I might come up with the idea of banning shorts becuase they seem not no so modest to me. I am pretty sure everyone is going to disagree. I agree with @MattЭллен I think you need to educate yourself about democracy and the rule of law. @Jez
I think we are pulling ourselves back into the stone age.
"By it doesnt matter" I dont mean that it doesnt matter to a muslim but rather to a non-muslim. > chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/11262636#11262636
12:16
@Cornbread It doesn't look different to me. I'll look again later after I have coffee.
Jez
Jez
@Noah The point being made was that it's not really a child's personal choice because they're so influenced by their parents/school
if i thought they were capable of making a properly educated choice, I'd agree
12:34
Well, that's true of all children, not just the Muslim ones.
It's our job as parents to instill them with values.
I will give all children the value of pi
3
Mmm pi.
Where did I put my script for decrypting config files?
in an ecrypted folder
on an encrypted drive
in an encrypted computer
in a crypt
You are funny.
You are a funny snake.
Haha. That's a good book. Can I Play Too?
12:40
It's a bit hard to take the kids reading it.
But my son does a great job with it.
I do not have arms!? Aaaaaaaghh!
I know I do not have arms.
I am a snake.
Makes me laugh every time.
Jez
Jez
post-Eden, then.
My son doesn't know about Eden.
12:44
Not until ... well, I suppose if he asks. Otherwise, he'll figure it out later.
Although I might give him that really cool book of creation stories that I read as a kid.
Ahahahaha. I forgot that I had to decrypt this on the original server. Derf.
Jez
Jez
how did the snake play catch then, with its mouth?
i'm on tenterhooks
they threw the snake around, I think
Jez
Jez
heh
of course the book is illogical. one can't catch with hooves, either. plot holes everywhere
at least they didn't invent time travel when it would have been quicker to build hands for the snake.
You could watch the video. Or borrow the book from your library.
It's hilarious.
12:49
I watched the video.
Actually, pretty much all of the Elephant & Piggie books are.
So are the pigeon books.
Mo Williems really knows how to write for kids.
I was just thinking today that the axioms of elementary algebra can be given as nursery rhymes...
I thought I might start my eldest on algebra next week, but maybe I should cover currency first.
Although he knows his coins already, but I don't think he can make change.
Jez
Jez
why is that woman virtually whispering?
She's probably louder than it sounds.
@cyberskull But also, it encourages the children to be quiet so they can listen.
Jez
Jez
12:56
nah sounds like whispering
She's doing a great job scaffolding.
It could be an attempt to force the kids to listen carefully.
She is also probably in the corner of an active classroom.
Wow, she's really doing a good job.
