1 hour later…
1:10 AM
I moved into my new cave yesterday. It has a really neat doorbell.
Just a brass lever on the outside and the chime on the inside.

1:46 AM
Cute!
I knew there were animals that could do that.
I thought it had a certain length of penis rolled up inside that it could use, but that its supply was finite?

I hope it's that collection of spiny things on the right.

user19161
2:01 AM
@chatkillah What will it be? KP?

2:38 AM
@JasperLoy back to cornbread
@JasperLoy I see you have re-Jaspered.

3:25 AM
Great, somebody has hooked up a Markov-chain generator to ELU and has started posting its results as answers:
-1
A: Difference in meaning: "would have had to be" vs "would have had to have been"

user39231And simple past, and time-reference or temporality for the time-reference of a clause or sentence, not of a word boundaries. What were once considered two can be separated. As you see, combining form leads to all kinds of models have merit. Most language users happen to think of will use it". The...

2 hours later…
5:22 AM
I just popped in to say that "I never saw that before" is perfercly asseptable where I'm from.
And also, I'm a little bit drunkenly finally playing Dragon Age Origins, and I think my transcript comprehension might be, err, slightly a tiny bit impaired. I hope your piano can be fixed, @rob.

@aediaλ Yayyy Dragon Age!
We'll talk about it later, now it's bed time.

Yeah. Let's try this talking thing again when y'all awake ok? Like, torrowow or whenever stupid DST stops stealing the time from me...

Haha.

@cerby!

Have fun with Alistair and Morrigan!

5:30 AM
Yeah. I should goto bed no collecting $200 or anything

And try Nightmare once you're up to it, makes the battles so much more exciting!

Omfg no

The first Ogre at Ostagar is extremely hard on Nightmare btw.
Bai!
(There is a Trick...control whichever character the Ogre is after by hand hand, and keep running around the room in circles as fast as you can, while your mates kill him slowly.)
poof
(So control the character and run by hand. The Ogre is too slow to catch you.)

I had no idea you would do such a thing. I have been past ostagar (drat that is hard to type on the phone... I'm using the phone as my alternate screen because computer videogame yeah)

POOOF

5:33 AM
Haha.

Ah haha OK.
REAL POOF OKAY???

We both better. I should go. For fereleden! Er, for working in the morning!

5 hours later…
10:46 AM
I see out Markov spammer was going wacky overnight.

11:40 AM
@aediaλ DST steals times from no one; it merely fucks with our clocks. The cow is not deceived into changing her lactation period, nor the rooster his cockle-doodle-doing. Only those desperados who live their lives with time doled out in miserly snippets at though it were a paycheck-to-paycheck commodity even notice these things. Them, and trainspotters.

12:13 PM
But does it save anything?

@aediaλ I finished ME3 finally and was somewhat disappointed. Why don't they ever let Shepard survive? Seems kind of unfair. Oh well, back to ACIII, at least until I get use of my piano back.

12:29 PM
Morning.

Hi!
@Robusto ! Spoiler!

i no rite

Now I can't ever play it.

That was a spoiler? Damn it, @Rob!

@KitFox Let's not make a big production about it. It's not like you didn't know it was going to happen after both previous versions result in Shep sacrificing life for humanity.

12:38 PM
What!?
I guess I don't need to play any of them now.

The journey is the reward.

I'm just messing with you.
I still have to figure out how I'm going to play Half-Life.

I still have to finish Dragon Age.
I stopped playing a few months ago.

You haven't finished it? My husband finished it last week.
And decided he never wanted to play it again.
So now we have to find something else.
He started playing Oblivion again, but it's kind of meh the tenth time.
Especially after Skyrim.
And then there's the disappointment with the new Sim.
I wish I were better at writing game code.

Yeah, somehow I stopped, with the intention of playing it again real soon. If I have to analyse my own psyche, I think combat had become too easy.
Even on Nightmare, it wasn't much of a challenge any more.
Why did your husband never want to play it again?
Did he buy Sim?

12:45 PM
It's kind of a crap game.

She can be naughty...
!

We did not get SimCity.

Then why did he finish it?
I thought it was great, and I didn't even finish it.

It wasn't crap enough to not finish.

Hmm.

12:46 PM
The whole fighting system was incredibly kludgy.

I would have stopped even sooner if I had thought it crap, but OK.
I really liked the fighting, until it started to become too easy. Then it became boring-ish. I was at the tipping point. Did he try Nightmare?

We stopped playing GTA4 because it got old fast.

Ohh you're a critical bunch!

@Cerberus Easy? You mean, where you pause every second to go through two or three menus to select your next action?

I didn't need to do that any more.

12:48 PM
Come on, can’t we do anything about fricking Norton socks posting the same fricking question five fricking times from five different fricking socks?

And then you pause to cycle through your characters in order to go through two or three menus to select their next action?

I could just cast a couple of standard spells and not look at the screen any more until it was over. brags on a little bit more

*cast

But I like the pausing and the careful planning. That's what makes the combat fun for me.

I find it less like combat and more like tedium.

12:50 PM
I guess we like different things, then. I really love turn-based combat. Then you must have disliked Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and the whole family too.

I liked Baldur's Gate.
I haven't played Neverwinter Nights.

All similar combat.

Baldur's Gate wasn't "turn-based"
It was a button-masher.

It was the same as Dragon Age.
No button mashing!

Nuh-uh.

12:51 PM
Bioware always stuck to the same combat type.

@tchrist IP block.

@Cerberus You must be talking about the "enhanced" edition.
I never played that.

@MετάEd No, there’s some reason they can’t do that in this case.

No? Just regular Baldur's Gate?

@tchrist Is it a real reason, or a policy reason?
@tchrist I'd have to see the logs. How much worse would the site be if we blocked the ISP.

12:54 PM
Look familiar?

Ha. That's the one you can't trash. :-)

@Cerberus Not really.

Hmm.
That's B's G.

On a PC. I play mostly console games these days.

12:57 PM
And why are we starring fruitcake? That stuff lasts forever as it is?
6

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 You ess is hangin’ out, dude!

Just don't look at it.

This is not the Temporal Savings & Loan office: there is no s at the end of Daylight Saving.

I didn't make the image

Anyway, nothing changes for those of us who don’t live our lives hand-to-mouth.
I get up at the same time. I eat at the same time. I go to bed at the same time. Nothing changes.

12:59 PM
Sure, because you never need to know what time it is outside your house. You never have meetings or appointments, or go shopping, or watch TV.

@MετάEd It is a uncool to call stollen, fruit-cake.

I got up today at the same time and it was a whole lot earlier than yesterday.

And no, that is not a vocative use. :)
@KitFox Then it was not at the same time.
I get up at sunrise minus ~2h each day. Nothing changes.

Nothing changes for you except everything outside your house, should you ever need to connect with society.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 “Go shopping”? Of course I do. And my grocery store doesn’t close, which means I needn’t concern myself with when it opens.
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 I’m sure if you push just a little harder, we can flag you.
Because today is my day for calling spades spades.

1:02 PM
@tchrist I have no opinion one way or the other about whether it annoys Americans. Or rather, my opinion is not that it is one of annoyance, just one the the RP accent is fancy sounding. Whether you're annoyed about it is up to you.
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Goddamn you, society!

@tchrist Go ahead. flag me all you want. You're the one who comes in here with the holier-than-thou attitude.

Boys. looks stern

No, I just don’t put up with stupid crap, so cut it the frog out.

@KitFox looks down. kicks dirt

Now. Who wants pie?

1:05 PM
Pie? You're just taunting us.

I now have pi helpful flags. Does that count?

Wait, what kind of pie?

@tchrist Dude. I posted a joke about how DST appears to take away an hour of your life. It's a common meme. Then you start going on about how everyone who lives by a clock is some kind of poor slave or something. You can take your attitude and send it to /dev/null.

@Mitch What kind of pie would you like?

Posting things with dumbass spelling mistakes about nonissues can go to /dev/zero, your obvious point of origin.

1:06 PM
Really?

@KitFox I'd like cap á pie.

@tchrist Early birds / morning people are disqualified.

user19161
Guys, relax.

@Mitch Well, depending on the kind of pie, I could probably get it to you before it went bad.
Hi @Jasper.

@JasperLoy I'm so relaxed I have to change my pants...again!
2

1:07 PM
@Cerberus May I send you a rooster for your troubles, sir?

user19161
@KitFox Hi!

@Mitch Ummm lovely!

user19161
@Mitch You need some meds for that then.

Just don’t cook him.

@MετάEd I don't know what that is.

1:07 PM
If you want to cook one, I can send you a goose.
Unless you would prefer a gander.

I have sauce for that goose.

I'll take a gander.

@KitFox Ya know it depends on my mood. Strawberry-rhubarb...excellent. Pumpkin...not so excellent. Something about orange food... sweet potatoes...ick.

No, no, not a gander. You mean that thing where they do the redistricting.
@Mitch I like you better every day.

Jerrymandering?

1:08 PM
@KitFox That’s putting jelly on the gander.

@Cerberus With a g.

Jerrygandering, of course.

The coat of arms of Lithuania, consisting of an armour-clad knight on horseback holding an olden sword and shield, is also known as Vytis ("the Chaser"). The Lithuanian coat of arms is one of the oldest national coats of arms in Europe. It is one of very few containing symbolism adopted from ducal portrait seals rather than from coats of arms of dynasties, which is the case for most European countries. Article 15 of the Constitution of Lithuania, approved by national referendum in 1992, stipulates, "The Coat of Arms of the State shall be a white Vytis on a red field". Heraldic shield fea...
@KitFox No, no, not a gerrymander. You're thinking of that talk show host that used to be a mayor.

Goosejelly pie. Mmmmm.
We had a goosejelly bush when I was a kid.

no no not Sonny Bono, or is it Clint Eastwood...or is it Merv Griffin?

1:10 PM
@MετάEd No, no, not Jerry Springer. You're thinking of that mayor who got busted in a drug deal.

No No not the former mayor of DC, you meant the guy who sings to Mandy.

No, no, not Barry Manilow. You mean the woman you need to help you.
Really? No one?

@KitFox again, looks down. kicks dirt

@Mitch You mean Fred’s “Could It Be Magic?” in Cm?

Help me, ..., help, help me, ...
How much do I love Mandy Patinkin.

1:20 PM
God does she have lungs!

I like this TED talk. I think you might too.

1 hour later…
2:50 PM
Does the following sentence make sense to you @Mitch?
> Please check that I haven't changed your intended meaning unintentionally.

user19161
@Gigili It is fine.

OK, thanks.

@KitFox Help! I need somebody! Help! Not just anybody! Won't you please, please help me!

3:24 PM
@MετάEd How can I help you?
OMG, a friend request from an actual friend!

@KitFox Help me if you can, I'm feeling down, and I do appreciate you being round. Help me get my feet back on the ground. Won’t you please, please help me?

nails @MετάEd's feet to the ground
I was talking about Rhonda, not the Beatles.
Now lunchtime.
bbl

If you hadn't nailed ’em to the ground I’d be pushing up the daisies.

3:52 PM
French fries and chicken fingers. Lunch of champions.

@Gigili yep. totally fine. If that was your intended meaning. :)

@KitFox Mushrooms: lunch of champignons
2

@MετάEd Every single day of your life?

@MattЭллен giggles

3:54 PM
Tu es champignon.
I need a circumflex.

mais oui

No no you meant nous sommes les champions

Oh, dur. Or I need to conjugate correctly.

no no not a statement of feeling stupid, you meant a tropical fruit that smells strongly of rottenness.

@Mitch sans soins pour louvres parceque nous sommes les champignons.
Egads! No. I must to work.

3:59 PM
you have no cares for the slats on your shutters?

Mushrooms don't have shutters.

@Mitch no no not dorian fruit, you meant that book about a guy who doesn't age.

louvers?
