Who started this instant memorial thing? Flowers. Letters. Teddy bears.
Is it because morons feel that rationality and emotion(ality) are opposites?

It's a conspiracy by florists.

@RegDwigнt Is it? Like. Really? (Is there a leaked memo?)

Source: I am a florist or a conspiracist. I won't tell which.

@RegDwigнt I have a funeral florist around the corner, for god's sake.

Why does he bury god's sake? And what does he do to satan's vodka?

8:16 PM
@RegDwigнt He doesn't bury anything. He (or she; I don't know) just does flowers. BTW, I also have a transsexual florist around the other corner.
I wonder if this is enough information to localise me.

Of course he is around the other corner, since he swings the other way.
@Transmissionfrom we don't need any information really. We have an NSA shortcut for that.

@RegDwigнt Anyway, the teddy bears. Since when? Why?

Now that's just your perception bias. People also leave candles and bras and empty coke bottles behind.
Basically it's a free, conveniently located landfill.

You've been to Père Lachaise.

I have never been to any such chair.
I may or may not have been to Gentilly

8:27 PM
@RegDwigнt Many teddy bears there?

If I answered that question, you'd know whether or not I have been.

@RegDwigнt Would that be a "bad" thing?

Let me just say this: there's no teddy bears in Paris. Only dog poo.
@Transmissionfrom I don't know if it would be a "bad" thing, but it might be a bad thing.
!!lego 21021

What is a bad thing is that they only make 10k of these and then only release them in that one building or something.
This is 2013. If I can't have a flying car, then at least give me any LEGO set I can afford.

8:32 PM
@RegDwigнt I don't follow. At all.

Welcome to this room!
All you really need to know, or will care for at all, is that it's MrShiny bait, who only just entered the room.

Speaking of which, I think I have to leave in a minute.

So what's so special about that set? just the trans-blue plates?

Thanks! Now tell me, @Mr.ShinyandNew安宇, where do the teddy bears come from?

8:34 PM
Actually the 1x1 round plates in olive, and that new 2x2x1 upright bracket in white.

@Transmissionfrom When a mama teddy bear and a poppa teddy bear really love each other.....

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Go on.

Incidentally, these are pretty much the only parts I am missing.
Rebrickable tells me I don't have a couple more, but by the looks of it it is lying.

@Transmissionfrom yadda yadda yadda, in spring the momma bear gives birth to a litter of teddy bear cubs, which grow up to be teddy bears.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 So, why do they end up near police lines near child murders?

8:36 PM
@Transmissionfrom because children like teddy bears

This is my cue for going AFK.
Lators.

and as the ancient egyptians taught us, after you die, you get to bring stuff with you into the afterlife.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Really, are the nowadays teddy bears at "family dramas" due to Egyptian beliefs?

@Transmissionfrom Just the ones for dead children
It'd be inappropriate to bring, say, adult toys for the dead spirits to take to the afterlife.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 No dildos found in pyramids?

8:39 PM
I mean, if a kid dies when he's 8, he's stuck at 8 forever. that's no age to be bringing a Playboy magazine into Heaven.
@Transmissionfrom Most of the mummies were adults.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Not so sure. Weren't some of the kings children?

@Transmissionfrom The youngest I know of was Tut, and he was like 18 or so.
I haven't made a study of this, though.

You should. In the mean time, I'm off.

9:10 PM
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 I know I'm way late to the party, but I say "feng shoey" or maybe more like "feng shwee" because I don't want to be misunderstood or sound pretentious. So even though I know how to pronounce it and in my head I think "fung shway", I don't think I'd say it that way unless I heard someone else say it that way first in the conversation.

@aediaλ Interesting. Around here, saying "feng shoey" would make you sound like a hick. In Toronto you're expected to know how to pronounce ALL the foreign words.

I think it follows the same pattern as a lot of other loanwords where I don't feel I can pull off looking educated and worldly enough to use the original pronunciation. Maybe some of that's personality - I can think of a few friends who would do it where I wouldn't, without coming off silly or pretentious - but I think some of it must be regional.

9:27 PM
yeah. When in rome, etc.

When in Rome throw a slave to the lions?

though feng shui is kinda a bad example. Around here, it's popular because of all the Chinese people who believe in it, and the various non-Chinese who are a bit entranced by the mystical foreigners. But in rural Ontario, how to pronounce "feng shui" is not an issue, because nobody follows it or talks about it.
time for me to go... cya later

later

@RegDwigнt Down with Florists!
@Transmissionfrom No.
@RegDwigнt I've only ever left my teddy bears or bras. To misplace one was my misfortune; to lose both at the same time is simply carelessness

9:56 PM
Looking up pics of Tom Daley can be a real minefield. "Oh he looks hot there oh wait he's only 13. NEVERMIND." http://i2.listal.com/image/1941360/936full-tom-daley.jpg
@RegDwigнt A chap I knew tried to start a conspiracy theory that Princess Diana was assassinated by a secret international cabal of florists.

yesss.....it's working
Anyone want to buy a rose?

!!wiki rose

@TRiG 13? I believe it not. Besides, if it's a "decent" picture, it's legal.
