If they count 89, they say 89. If they count 90, they say 90. If they count 91, they say 91. They don't say 90 just for giggles. That's what they'd use the word "approximately" for.
@simchona not everyone is Nortonn. If this site has taught us anything, that's that there's room for really totally very many such people in this world.
@KitFox that is actually part of my point earlier. Even if the very first stab is lethal, the person won't die immediately. So you stab them once, twice, and it doesn't seem to work. So you become enraged and just continue stabbing until they show no sign of life. Again, for all you know, at that point they've died of the very first blow.
Right, but I am working today. I am going to get something done that doesn't involve playing with the iPad.
You know if I spent half as much time working as making it look like I'm working, I would be um...something more productive. I can't be arsed to do the math.
Hey, don't forget Writers' chat today, friends of mine!
He said ORLY and listed three questions that were allegedly answered, except that one was closed, the other one was from the early beta days and the third one has "no native speaker would ever ask this" as the accepted answer.
Anyways, I was hoping someone would purge that exchange.
"He released some prisoners on humanitarian grounds."
"He explained the plan on humanitarian grounds."
"He explained the plan on theoretical grounds."
Given the first sentence, does the second sentence mean that humanitarian compassion compelled him to do the explaining? Does the thir...
Especially if he's been making new accoutns every day--it's kind of like saying, "we suspended you but because you've been so persistent we'll let you stay this time"
My guess would be that he takes the whole "support" thing literally. You support a site you'd really support. You don't support a site you'd like to have so you never have to go there.
Oops. Now reading the transcript, it looks like I am saying he is like a kindergartner. That's not what I meant, kiam! I meant you could help oversee them!
Murphy's law states "Anything that can go wrong also will" and I surely remember that there also is a lemma / corolary to this law that adds "...at the worst possible time" and now I wonder where the lemma comes from and who discovered it? Am I thinking of "Finagle's law"

Hmmm, well I'm probably not the person to ask. I think my parents were probably the same. I don't remember any of the cartoons I watched having people really die (he man, thundercats, transformers, etc.)
It's a losing battle though. I've already explained to my son a few times that in real life, people don't just respawn after a little while. When you are dead, you stay dead.
He learns the "I killed that guy!" and "You're dead!" from his friends and Papa.
Hey, speaking of the cake being a lie: my project lead told me that I should ask the big boss for money for doing the site training in September. He says (I shit you not) "I mean hey, you could probably get 5 or 6 grand for that."
> A Muscovy drake everts his penis in about a third of a second, at speeds of 1.6 meters per second.
> Unable to film duck penises in a real female oviduct, she built a fake oviduct out of silcone. She then managed to get a drake to mate with it. But the overwhelming force of the explosive penis broke the fake oviduct.

@cornbreadninja Both of the images in your profile are wrapped in <p> tags, so they will each be their own paragraph and will therefore not be side-by-side, but one on top of the other, as paragraphs usually are.
