room topic changed to The Renderfarm: A place to talk while we wait for our renders to finish. Detailed stats are at goo.gl/lXFMXG and our Area 51 page is goo.gl/NS6CyS. What I did was use the detect features checkbox, set it to not be picky, tracked ahead until they all were off screen, the reapeted the process, this time tracking both backwards and forwards...
afterwards you can look for points with a high solve error, and delete them
BTW I don't know if it was for upload, but the compression was dreadful
@gandalf3 try using Perspective as motion model (Tracking Settings->Motion Model) I find that for this kind of shots it gives you quite accurate results.
@GiantCowFilms I tried that, but the trackers tended to fail even before they got to the edge.. What tracking settings did you use? (search size etc?)
@cegaton I tried having largish perspective/affine markers (matching keyframe) on detailed spots during the translation bit, but they tended lose the track..
@GiantCowFilms After doing that I got a solve error of over 180.. Most markers didn't even display a solve error (?)
@GiantCowFilms Is there any difference between tracking forwards/backwards?
I tried putting some perspective markers on bits that where in the middle of the screen, tracking them forwards, going back, and tracking backwards
Maybe I imagined it, but I felt like they lost the track a lot more when going backwards..
@GiantCowFilms There's a "Set Scene Frames" button in tool shelf > track > clip
@gandalf3 I don't think for the tracking there is a difference going backwards. But I do remember running into issues on mp4 files that would decompress differently going backwards...
There are a lot of good places to track , but in my experience you can't trust any automatic tracking there is quite a lot of babysitting to be done so the trackers stay where they belong
I have been playing with the settings for the text object recently, and every time I add a new text object, I need to change the font to my favorite one. (Eurostile LT ExtendedTwo) Is there any way to change the default font so I do not need to change it every time I add a new text object?
