Q: C++11 version of windows EventWaitHandle

Jimmy HoffaI don't know C++ at all, but for the heck of it I tossed this together because I was talking with someone about C++ and was given the impression there is absolutely nothing quite like the windows APIs ManualReset and AutoReset EventWaitHandles, so I figured I'd see if I could create one. @Quill-HATMANIAC Hooray!
thanks :-)
now they can force me to learn Java, *yay*
@Quill-HATMANIAC What are you taking?
I am taking Info Tech Management, and only had to take one Java class.
01:16
Computer Science
Ah. I would have if I could have.
I almost took an Associate's in programming in HS, but decided I didn't want to. Look at me now...
On the other hand, I studied math and science much deeper than I could have otherwise, and that really helped with my ACT.
is your ACT a generalised test?
Yeah, similar to the SAT.
I think I took like 32/36.
I don't have SAT here either, lol
US students typically have to take one or the other.
It tested me on my English, Math, Science, and a couple other skills. I took the optional writing version, but didn't do that great on that section.
I'm not a fast writer.
We covered Muons in the science section, and I had just covered them in Advanced Physics not too long earlier.
And my science courses were college-level too.
I don't really want to know what the typical HS science courses are, now.
I don't remember exactly what we covered in the other sections, except one excerpt used in the English section was about Louis Armstrong. That was an interesting snippet.
Looks interesting.
I'd give a lot to be able to take some of those courses.
some of the courses are like 'html5 + css + js' and I can't decide whether to take them for purposes of easy or take a different one for purposes of learning
@Quill-HATMANIAC Take ones for learning. You'll benefit more.
Especially since those are first-year courses.
Although, some higher-level courses are easier than first-year courses.
This is my major: onestop2.umn.edu/pcas/…
I filled the electives with my minor, since they didn't really have enough online courses for me to finish without a minor: onestop2.umn.edu/pcas/…
i see, are you planning to do more additional tertiary study after you finish?
My family wants me too. I don't really.
I can't really get a good scholarship as a white male, and my family can't afford to send me out-of-state, so I'm stuck with very limited options.
And I can't take a CS Masters without the bachelor-level courses. I'd need at least two-semesters worth of courses or self-study to be able to take the Master's.

Is it a meta tag?
Wait. FizzBuzz? What?
Well, it describes what the code does, not what it is.
Whatever a 'meta-tag' is.
Anyone interested in developing for Windows Phone in Italy? stackoverflow.com/jobs/103065/…

@SirPython Yes. As a rule, if a hat isn't explicitly designed around stuff predating Winter Bash, then it's for things that happen during Winter Bash. Not saying you should've known that, just FYI for the future.

@Quill-HATMANIAC I just downvoted for now. The game is so far not designed to be multi-player. This is just a start of it. If the code is designed to just show a board, then apparently it works just fine.

@SimonForsbergMcFeely definitely, some people leave the front page open to watch new activity anyway, but the chatroom is good
I rarely watch the front page.
When I watch anything, it's the new questions, not the "recently active" ones.
Well @200_success I created it, but I won't be going through the whole list. So I guess we'll see if it catches on.
hopefully it doesn't become one of those add-on tags that people use for general reviews
What do you mean @Quill-HATMANIAC? If you're concerned, let's talk about it.
I'm not really concerned, because tags can always be burninated if they cause issues
but like how the performance tag is sloppily applied to questions
they are simple operations without serious time complexity, people just like to abuse the tag
I'm not definitively saying it will or won't be an issue
and I'd think questions sloppily tagged configuration are almost asking for feature implementations, which is off-topic anyway
12:35
@Quill-HATMANIAC Whenever OP is concerned about performance I apply the tag. Seems fitting.
Okay, well, I don't like comparing it to a meta tag is very useful, but I see the point you're making.
If it becomes an issue, it can be burninated I suppose.
@Mast often they're not. they don't care whether their algo runs at O(n^2) or O(n)
yeah, I wouldn't be particularly worried without it actually happening
as long as we watch it, we can kill it if it starts to become an issue

First of all, who told that it is for excel? Second, why did you supposed that all dimensions must have minimum 2 items? A lot of parameters could be just static as a reference... Third, I already use several MS SQL servers... — Sorin GFS 14 hours ago
1) Well, you did tag it as Excel. 2) A unit-length dimension is not a dimension, it's a property, and should be expressed that way. 3) Cool, but that just begs the question, why on earth are you trying to do this in VBA? — Zak 1 hour ago

Q: SIMD matrix multiplication

PeterI recently started toying with SIMD and came up with the following code for matrix multiplication. First I attempted to implement it using SIMD the same way I did in SISD, just using SIMD for things like the dot product for each particular entry, which was actually slower (still trying to figure...

Ah... yea, the lua one might expire
goes completely over my head
I have no idea what a siamese neural network is
I will share them...

Me either, but it looks cool.
@Quill-HATMANIAC @Hosch250 Why is this example code?
does that user know that they have a huge amount of Rep waiting for them here on CR?
well for one:

That doesn't make it example code.
That makes it anonymized at best.
Asking for explanations of other people's code is off topic here. — RubberDuck 3 hours ago

I did flag it wrong, but it does seems somewhat hypothetical
I think the code is concrete enough to stay open.
it doesn't look Hyppothetical to me, but if the user doesn't understand how the code works.... that could be an issue

yes, which is why I retracted my vote
that's also true
it's pretty well commented even....
Nevermind, there is a pretty lengthy answer, of which I am not in the mood to read, it's PHP, eh
my lifehacks q hit hnq so I might get one of those hat things I hear the kids talking about these days
lol
I may Repmax over there then huh? you too @Quill-HATMANIAC
maybe
I don't think so
@Mat'sMug @RubberDuck Have you guys done any syntax highlighting work in Rubberduck?

I'd have to get 16 upvotes for that
I guess an codereview.stackexchange.com will be a better place for this question. — Roman Makhlin just now
@SimonForsbergMcFeely nope
Would be nice to figure out how to p/invoke and display additional stuff in a code pane though
@Mat'sMug Good for you.
@SimonForsbergMcFeely The VBE provides some syntax highlighting.
@Mast It isn't - it looks like someone else's code.
