@Mat'sMug - about community ads, now that we have official news about graduation, and all....
community ads for code review are fine on any site on SE, except SO.
Programmers, SU, SF, etc.
Dinner, and POI now
Isn't SO the one place it is most suited at..?
00:43
It's where our ad campaign was the most successful, but SO's ads are for open-source projects. Indeed, wrong place for community ads...
So when are we getting our official tag on meta?
and what's POI?

Had to go to immediate care center tonight, got a really bad infection in my right leg. I'm on 1800 mg of antibiotics, can barely walk, and ER tomorrow morning if the swelling doesn't go down.
wow.. how did that happen?
All because of... a wasp, that I accidentally stepped on bare foot, a few weeks ago.
got bitten by a zombie?

Also, intramuscular vaccine in the hip... sucks balls... especially 1000 mg of it.
I... can only imagine the pain.
my sympathies
It was unbearable for the first hour afterwards. Now I'm down to maybe, a 3 on the scale of pain. After taking a bunch of Aleve.
So, anyways, I can only hope for the best in the morning. Give you an idea of the swelling... As of 2 hours ago, ankle was 25cm around... foot... 26.5cm around. Big toe... 9.5cm.
damn!
Yes, "damn" describes it pretty well.
well technically, DAMN does it better

So, I'm going to pound down a couple of beers, have a cigarette or two and crawl into bed to read until I pass out.
I wouldn't mix all that medicine with alcohol if I were you..

Probably smart. I'll drink water instead.
Very tempting though, after an evening like this.

Enough complaining, not doing any good. Thanks for the laughs @Mat'sMug
no problem, take care - and take these antibiotics for all 10 days (per prescription, right?), dispose of the rest, and no alcohol while on antibiotics!
Yeah - got a massive 800mg pill 3 times a day, blech.

@janos I tend to hang out more here these days:

Other than that, I'm doing okay.
08:52
a-ha! CR is probably a good place to find coding buddies
How are youm, @janos? Besides gathering an immensely amount of CR rep
things are OK, except that CR is eating into my other activities...
Yeah, it started out with about 5-7 being interested to work on it at first, now we are... four... @bazola, @Phrancis, @skiwi and I. Although bazola and I are the ones doing most of the coding.
@janos that tends to happen, doesn't it?
I've started using rescuetime.com recently and I've found that I spend about as much time here in chat and on Code Review as I do actually coding.
I was just about to ease up on that a bit when you noticed I'm going for Epic and kinda sparked a little race

Does anyone know if you absolutely need to have a Windows App to be able to create a Live Tile? I'm thinking about in some way creating a Live Tile that resembles a SE account, like an icon, rep, and messages/repgain etc.
But I'm filled up with things to do at the moment though ;)
And have no C# experience
But I think it will look awesome in the new Windows 10 Start Menu and provides an easy way of getting an overview of data (as I do not want the default icons in there)

@skiwi What else would you use for it?
@JeroenVannevel Pretty much only that, if there's spare time I could make a single overview page as "app", but that would be it
Yeah, but I meant "what else other than a windows app"
How do you mean?
You can write that in Javascript, C# and C++ by the way
Maybe VB.NET as well, not sure about that one
You use the WinRT framework, not the .NET one. But .NET and C++/Javascript all map some types to WinRT and WinRT itself also provides a lot of types to do your business with
10:45
Yeah WinRT is what I was thinking about, the new one
But wouldn't it be an "issue" that there's no real app behind it?
I surely cannot put a single Live Tile in the application store?
I'm not sure what you mean by that
I haven't used live tiles (or static tiles) yet, I just let it have the default icon
but as far as I know, it's just a matter of sending data to it
Let's put it like this: I do not want to make an App, I only want to make a Live Tile
behind the scenes it is just a 'Universal app'
Similar to Windows Vista's Widgets
But that's like saying you only want the favicon without a website
If the user clicks the app, just give him the same information the live tile displays
perhaps with a graph or something
Windows apps aren't meant to be widgets
At least, I haven't come across that specific usecase yet
but it would really surprise me
Take a sample and you'll be almost done already
10:50
@JeroenVannevel Yeah I was thinking that could work too
@JeroenVannevel Well... I think they are with the new Windows 10 Start Menu, perhaps not so much with the Windows 8(.1) overview
Ah, that might be different
Haven't looked at Win10 yet
Although I think those are just apps as well
They are apps yes
But I think they look more like widgets if you pin them there
mhhm
Well, I don't know enough about Win10
but I think they'll just be Universal Apps as well
I just thought it would be awesome to see lots of stats if you press the windows key :)
Ideally the SE app should provide an awesome live tile
But I was more thinking alike admin statistics for something you have developed yourself
Well now I want to make an SE app
11:06
This is rather frustrating, I've made an university assignment correctly (observable without grading), but I need to include simulations and they take simply too much time, but I don't know where to save time :|
They state something interesting though...
If a simulation takes more than a few seconds, it's a hint that it is too complex. If it cannot be simulated due to an error, if if the simulation does not terminate, you get no points. However, mine does work and terminate, it's just slow.

A: A quick and easy way to join array elements with a separator (the oposite of split) in Java

alexmEven easier you can just use Arrays, so you will get a String with the values of the array separated by a "," String concat = Arrays.toString(myArray); so you will end up with this: concat = "a,b,c"

using regex for that is just wrong IMO

Sort of.... it is still an ugly place...
I know., I know... but can't help myself.
And, it becomes self-fulfilling... one person upvotes a new answer, and suddenly a few do.
Almost as if you need someone to break the ice, and everyone else thinks: "Oh, right, that's not a bad answer, and I can vote".
sometimes you can almost feel when something's about to go viral

@rolfl I'd want to apply some Java 8 to burned area there, but that question is old

A: A quick and easy way to join array elements with a separator (the oposite of split) in Java

eivindwWith Java 1.8 there is a new StringJoiner class - so no need for Guava or Apache Commons: String str = new StringJoiner(",").add("a").add("b").add("c").toString(); Or using a collection directly with the new stream api: String str = Arrays.asList("a", "b", "c").stream().collect(Collectors.joi...

I got my SO reputation around the days Java 8 got released
@SimonAndréForsberg I will be sure to notify you ;)
Then I get an SO answer I can actually understand...
121 answer to 40 questions isn't half bad though..
@rolfl How about...

A: A quick and easy way to join array elements with a separator (the oposite of split) in Java

skiwiUsing Java 8 you can do this in a very clean way: String.join(delimiter, elements); This works in three ways: //directly specifying the elements String joined1 = String.join(",", "a", "b", "c"); //using arrays String[] array = new String[] { "a", "b", "c" }; String joined2 = String.join(",",...

@rolfl Decided to give it a go as is way overcomplicated
Your's gets a +1

Everyone is either over-thinking or not aware of String.join :) (Or the answer was posted before Java 8)

@skiwi Where did you get <mqueue.h>?
@syb0rg It's a POSIX C library I believe
Hmmm
Ah... that might be why I am not getting that many reviews
You kind of need a Unix/Linux version to run it, maybe Mac OS X also works then
Yeah, but it's not available by default
I'll see if Homebrew has it...
Hmm, nope
