Q: Circuit Simulator

KyranstarI'm trying to learn Golang from Java, and to do this, I wrote a basic circuit simulator with only two circuits. Is there anything I can do better to make it more idiomatic? Simulator.go package main import ( "fmt" ) const ITERATIONS = 10 func main() { a := Wire{false, false} b :=...

nowadays people just don't code without addons
like "golang"
or "JavaFX" or "Gtk" or whatever

golang is actually a language

@Phrancis Perhaps, but I can't tell if the "When" is part of the code. It still doesn't quite look right to me.

Yeah, Cucumber generates that reaction a lot, but this code actually runs. — dankohn 23 secs ago
there you go

10:07 PM
@Jamaml how many edits do you do on an average day?

@Gustavo6046 It's called a library. Whole world of difference.
@JohanLarsson Over 9000.

and all high quality

I think I am starting to get the Git stuff figured out

what did you use before git?

Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V

10:08 PM
I didn't see he edit my question, only @Phrancis and @pimgd so yeah :P
I mean
nevermind

Q: Did I define and connect my MVC layers properly?

DennisI have been struggling with understanding Model, View, Service, Controller architecture. To help me I wrote some code below. I want to ask is my Model class the Model part of MVC? is my Service class a Service Layer? did I connect my layers properly? Note: I may later add an observer patte...

Idea for UnrealScript synonyms: UScript UCCScript UCC

@JohanLarsson lol...

"UCC" means "Unreal Code Compiler" so "Unreal Code" can be another synonym as well.

my previous employment started using Team Foundation server about a year before I left
and before that they had "vault something" or something that was horrible, it was super old SourceSafe maybe, it wasn't used properly
projects were all over the place on peoples machines.... I spent a little time moving projects to TFS, which was awesome! but never really got deep into using all it's functionality

I think you are looking for codereview.stackexchange.com We are here for specific questions, not recommendations. — zondo 22 secs ago

@Malachi You are the first person I have met who says tfs is awesome :)
You are in for good times when switching to git.
One difference between git and {tfs, svn} is that git works.
With tfs I don't think of it as checking in changes, more wrestling them in. :)

I didn't use it much, I like Git so far and I use it for my personal projects so that if my computers ever crash I can get my stuff on a new computer. TFS costs money though
TFS was mostly so we could find the most up to date project.

TFS works very well.. when you're the sole developer :)

people weren't even checking in their code. I think I used it more than everyone else

@Mat'sMug *if you never rename or move a file

everyone there was the sole developer on their project.

10:37 PM
I've had merge conflicts with myself etc.

the only time someone else needed in there was if someone was on vacation or sick and someone needed to fix their code

git is the best tool money can't buy

@JohanLarsson So have I. Not fun.
And I use Git.

Also to get started there is not that much to learn, if you work locally it is more or less commit, commit, commit

Yup. And pull.

10:38 PM
@Malachi Are you on windows?

Oh wait, that is remote.

Yes, I use it built-in to VS.

I use in GitHub Desktop

push and pull is not that hard either

10:38 PM
it's easier :3

and branching is a breeze
rebasing can be a bit hairy

Guess what? I'm working on finishing up a built-in Git tool for VBE.
I don't know how to rebase. As far as I've seen, it doesn't work once you've committed to remote.
I always commit directly to remote as my backup.

are vbe projects binary?

@JohanLarsson I am currently on windows
I have been known to get wild hairs and use an Ubuntu OS on an old laptop though

10:42 PM
which is the SE user with the highest reputation known?

must be skeet

@JohanLarsson I think I have all that stuff installed on my machine already, I have been meaning to learn it for a long time

@Malachi create a folder and play some with .txt files

I have Git built into VS that I like alot

ok, use it then, I have only used it by mistake a couple of times so dunno about it

Q: Needleman Wunsch algorithm in Scala

qedThe Needleman–Wunsch algorithm is an algorithm used in bioinformatics to align protein or nucleotide sequences. Here is an implementation in Scala: import NeedlemanWunsch.{Score, Direction, ResultEntry, SimilarityFunc} import scala.collection.mutable.ArrayBuffer /** * Created by IDEA on 2/...

I am trying to learn Angular, so I am working on a tutorial and using the command-line to version control it, so I can learn it as I would be using it.

@Malachi dunno about .js but looks like a .gitignore is missing

right now I am working in notepad++ right now
I didn't set any .gitignore up yet, because I am not really sure what all I want to ignore yet.

ok, usually good to set it up from the start ime
otherwise I forget
You typically want to ignore all things generated like build output
and have the stuff you edit like code files under version control

I should set that up for my VS Projects I have, namely my blackjack game I keep wanting to work on some more. but that is old windows forms
I might have to steal borrow that for my projects

10:48 PM
what's this I hear about the SO swag coming in
They got a new design

weekend!
just followed you @JohanLarsson where are you from?
time to Eat, then probably cake time! woot!

 {{ 'Country: ' + country.name + ', Locale: ' + country.locale }}

@Malachi Sweden

@Malachi try not to use strings like that, you can just put them in the tag

10:53 PM
like this?

@Quill what?
@JohanLarsson very cool

<li>
    Country: {{ country.name }},
    Locale: {{ country.locale }}
</li>

NO, the DEVIL is here

Q: Tracking Entity Changes (not EF)

Mat's MugSo, I kept refactoring my Sage300 API wrapper - I wanted the client code to feel just like using Entity Framework - this is the closest I got to it: using (var context = new SageContext(/*redacted credentials*/)) { context.Open(); var header = context.PurchaseOrderHeaders.Single(po => ...

@JohanLarsson I don't know, ask @Mat'sMug.

@Quill I am going through a tutorial. from like tutorialspoint or something like that

I gtg now

Oh, okay

I see what you are saying, I will have to remember to fix that after dinner

11:05 PM
This is not about javascript - your question is very broad; too broad to get good answers. A good indicator for that is that you were actually asking four questions in one post. Please don't stop contributing, I've enjoyed your questions and answers - but it would help make them specific about a certain issue. You might also want to check out the other StackExchange communities, especially Computer Science, Programmers or Code ReviewBergi 27 secs ago

A: Calculating a postfix expression

Jerry CoffinFirst, note that with code like this that has to read in external input, and convert it into objects, you typically end up with some sort of factory class that's kind of the border where you often have difficulty applying the open-closed principle very well. That is, it often needs at least a lit...
