Q: Temperature dependent 1-d conduction in Python? (I was pointed here for unpythonic code)

joshI'm trying to write a Python code that is a numerical solver for 1-d heat conduction (using FVM) with a temperature dependent thermal conductivity. I posted over at scicomp.stackexchange was was directed here due to distinctly unpythonic code. I'm still really new at this so I'll take any help I ...

@RubberDuck are you saying with that answer that my beautiful computer abuse will be discarded via integrating comments in "the grammar file"?

@Pimgd Maybe.... if I can figure out how to modify the grammar file, but that's a big if.

@Pimgd Huh? Did I miss that test??

@Mat'sMug you never write until !continuing
testcase:
' comment _

That line isn't terminated; the next line is a comment per VB syntax

... but EOF.

There would be a newline
Damn, I have to check that.

Are you suuuure?
is ' comment \EOF a valid file?

I need to see how it's handled, it's a nice edge case

Presuming this code works (albeit inefficiently), you may have better luck asking someone to review on codereview.stackexchange.com . — Brian 1 min ago

I'm surprised this didn't get a full review yet (not that Tic-Tac-Toe is too invigorating at this point).

@Pimgd is eager for the bounty ;)

I even found a real remark to make!
You use a list somewhere where you should just use a queue

There's a reason why I didn't use Queue<E> there, but I forgot the reason
3
> Additionally, if you supply an empty set of EntryParsers, you'll get an NotReadableException the first time you try to read something. I'm not sure that's something you want.
This point is more important than you make it seem like
It's bad if fail-early is violated

1:59 PM
Because I'm not sure if that's something you want to support

Ah, I was not intending to support that

I'll give it a separate header to live under

I crashed IntelliJ!
I made a Singleton return null.
I don't know why I used the Queue<E> there, my guess is that it's a remnant of earlier refactoring

refactoring hates me sometimes
Like last night
or, well, 3 days ago actually, but I only heard about it last night
I accidentally inverted a validation check of my script validator

Doesn't matter, unit tests will catch it!

when are we getting graduation loot

Am I allowed to post a question containing code extracted from a larger code base ? (giving a link to it's code repository)

@JaDogg yes, no, depends
3
In spirit, yes
Technically, no, not without some restrictions

@JaDogg Yes. The code to be reviewed must be embedded, but it's perfectly okay to link to the repository for further context.

2:10 PM
"This is code [code] from repository [link]. Please review repository." is not valid, for instance

That ^

So it depends on what you were planning to do
It seems easiest to get a module of it reviewed
"This is my froob of my frobnicator! You can find the frobnicator on github here [githubz]. I wanna know if my froob is documented well enough for public use, and if people have to fall back on code, whether that's readable. [froob code]"

A: Java CharSequence iteration

PimgdUse Library functions. Specifically, Character.isDigit(char c) and String.charAt(int index). @Vogel612 there are going to be things that every moderator is going to be unsure about, but should not be afraid to ask for the communities view point, like on MSO or MCR

comments are a place where insecurity isn't helpful.

@Malachi I'm afraid I have to agree with @Vogel612. You are of course free to run for moderator, but from what I have seen, I think your chances of getting elected are slim.

No harm trying.
You can see what percentage think you are good enough.

The one thing that you are missing is that I posted a question to MSO because I don't know that community, the CR community on the other hand is one that I know well. had the situation shown itself here I wouldn't have an issue seeing black and white. so the point of me being unsure there is a null point when talking Moderator duties on CR
