@MannyMeng The code does not compile.... but, SirPython flagged it at my recommendation.
After that, I copied the code myself, and discovered it was missing a brace.

The code from the post below does not compile for me, and I believe I see the bug. Should I flag it?
Now that the post has arrived in the review queue, I can mark it as "leave open", and it will drop out,.

Q: Lazy Load for multiple entities at a time

Biff MaGriffWe have a system with a non standard database solution. All trips to the DB are rather expensive. We cannot use entity framework. Currently our lazy loading is on an entity by entity basis. So if I have a Customer and access their Orders object it only loads the Orders for that customer. Somet...

@Duga I'm hoping to be able to commit my "Powered by ANTLR" branch tonight. That will be 1 commit, with huge consequences. Yes, I'm bad at refactoring. I should have made separate classes and kept the project compilable.... so expect 1 commit for Rubberduck tomorrow, and maybe even a merge to master, with possibly massive conflicts all over 20-some files. FML.

@Mat'sMug Aren't merge conflicts fun?

@Mat'sMug check this one out
(?<=,)([^,]*)(,\1)+(?=,|$)

12:15 AM
@Phrancis Oh yeah. There might be a chance for it to "just work" though.... ..... ....with lots of luck

Q: AngularJS: Chaining HTTP requests becoming unreadable

cejastI'm dealing with some very frustrating API's that requires a bit of filtering/processing data in order to get the results I need. I need to make 2 API calls, one of which returns a list of asset ID's, the second of which populates that list with metadata. I've managed to successfully chain the r...

@Mehrad What's "?="?

However I can't make it work to start from the start of the string using this for some reason (?<=,|^)

damn you regex... How powerful some made up thing can be
@Unihedro you're a Regex guy. feed us with your knowledge

@Hosch250 In case you were interested in seeing what it looked like, I committed it just now: cardshifter.github.io/prettify-test/prettify-test-obsidian.html

Thanks.

You can also try prettify-test-IDEA.html , prettify-test-typical-white.html and prettify-test-typical-black.html to see the others in action

Stripes aren't there in the blocks.

I noticed :\

12:28 AM
@Mehrad - what's your regex supposed to do?

then I just copied the permalink and pasted it here

No problem, OK, and... no, not with a single regular expression

but didn't work as I wanted

Don't put any other text in the comment.

Don't put any other text in the comment.

12:34 AM
This one does it no problem
(?:(?<=,)|^)([^,]*)(,\1)+(?=,|$)

@rolfl You can ping yourself...

Except the string should be sorted

I can't see how.
I have permalink, edit, delete, and flag for mod.

originally I had this (?<=,|^)([^,]*)(,\1)+(?=,|$) but somehow the first sentence doesn't work

Type the following in to your entry:

You just can't add any other text anywhere.

my mistake was to ping you at the end

What you can do is make it in-reply to something, like:

OOOOHHH I just deleted that branch
Let me fix

I'm making a white theme.
So, I need that IDE thing to get it to work properly?

Well, yes and no. You can probably just pop it in a regular IDE like Netbeans or whatever that can do HTML/CSS

12:44 AM
VS can, but it doesn't compile it.

The Brackets IDE really is pretty neat though, if you do web design it works great

@rolfl Yes (sorry for the late reply).

Or just go by the color reference, or fork our repo, so many options
Pull request would be fine too

Options for what?

Making a design lol.
Brackets IDE is certainly the simplest

12:49 AM
I meant testing it.
I can certainly create it in VS.
I just meant viewing the code blocks correctly.
Also, how can I set line numbers visible?

<pre class="prettyprint linenums">

I'll pull it once I'm done.

The linenums part

Then why aren't they visible?

On the link, or local copy of yours?

12:51 AM
In the browser.
Is that part of the thing Bracket fixed?

A little dark but can be adjusted
If you're pulling local files though, same problem we've been having where it doesn't apparently link to Prettify in code blocks

@Mat'sMug do you know why dot's are prohibited in xml tags?
I know what : does in xml tag but didn't come across dots
does it make an obj or something?

did you check the one I posted?

yeah, and decided it was too complex.
I had forgotten that you could backreference inside the match.
I thought the backreferences were for replacements only.

I would give you an upvote twice for this answer
let's stir some controversy here

@Hosch250 right :)
@Mehrad That has to be in the specs somwhere

@Mehrad Probably for the same reason they are prohibited in naming just about everything else in programming...?

@Phrancis d'oh!

@Phrancis What is a literal value?
Is the three here one? int i = 3;?

Yep

OK.

@Phrancis Yep, found it. It's actually totally accepted in XML
hhahah.. Yaaa @Hosch250

What do y'all think of this?
Not quite complete.

@Hosch250 That looks pretty good so far!

I like how colorful it is.
Easy to pick different elements apart.

If you want a screenshot of the code blocks just ping me with your CSS

How do I do this code prettify stuff?

1 hour ago, by Phrancis
Meanwhile: https://github.com/Cardshifter/cardshifter.github.io/tree/master/prettify-test
@Phrancis The link still isn't fixed.
You download that and follow the instructions here: meta.codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/5008/…

There I fixed it now

2:01 AM
So did I.

sometimes I wonder about this @Community user/bot.. sometimes I think it's sentient.

Step 1 is confusing me..
> In cardshifter.github.io/prettify-test just copy either of the HTML files (depending if you prefer to start with the white or black template) into the same folder.
Copy into what folder?

Just download the .zip and unzip it.

I did.

Then, just work from there.
@Phrancis Is that my problem?

2:02 AM
After I unzip, what step number am I on?

2, I think.
Are we supposed to move the files around at all, @Phrancis?

Just save them somewhere on your PC, anywhere is fine. Then go to the prettify-testing directory
And follow the instructions on the post from there

@Phrancis Can you provide a screenshot?

Are my only options changing colors?

You can turn line numbers on/off.
You can also set stripes.
Actually, some edits, @Phrancis

2:08 AM
How do I turn on linenums?

Just use the linenums class in the pre HTML blocks.
@Phrancis There ^^

Tell me like I've literally never written a line of CSS, HTML, PHP, JavaScript or any other sort of web script/code ever before.

@Hosch250 Can you link your HTML too?

What do I copy and where do I paste it?

2:13 AM
@Mat'sMug, @Hosch250 I am learning to write a converter for binding visibility and in the article I am reading it says this
>The first time I wrote VisibilityConverter, I simply checked the boolean value specified, and if it was true, I returned Visibility.Visible; if false, I returned Visibility.Collapsed. But it wasn’t long before I realized that wouldn’t do. As we saw in HelloWorld, I need to be able to reverse the behavior. That’s where our ConverterParameter is used.

@Mehrad I'll give you one.

I actually had the same question in mind why not to do it with an if

@Hosch250 ^^

and I can't understand but what he means for the answer of this question by Reserving the behavior

I just do that.
Can I see the webpage?
There might be something more going on - maybe an advanced convertor.

I have no idea what I'm doing... none of the code samples appear to have any color...

@nhgrif That happens.

@nhgrif Do you have a black and white monitor ? :P

@Hosch250 Unfortunately not

2:15 AM
ignore that tool tip...

You just need to go by the top blocks, and @Phrancis has the tools to fix it.

@nhgrif That's actually normal, code blocks don't render properly unless the packet is hosted on a server, or you have a tool that simulates that

@Phrancis No, talking to @Mehrad

I use Brackets IDE which does just that

Oh, so I should just worry about the top part?

2:16 AM
Pretty much, yeah

If I get the .css done, can I give it to you and you take care of the rest?

Yep
Stepping away for a bit, will check pings

@Mehrad This is a one-way bool/visibility convertor:
    public class BoolToVisibility : IValueConverter
    {
        public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, string language)
        {
            if ((bool)value) return Visibility.Visible;
            return Visibility.Collapsed;
        }

        public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, string language)
        {
            return null;
        }
    }
Just do it backwards for the ConvertBack.

@Hosch250 cheers

I am lazy and didn't do that part because it is never called.

2:19 AM
copy/paste

Yeah.
That is tested production code, guaranteed bug free 100%.
Money back if not satisfied in any way.
:)
This is an example with a parameter:

I can't see what "Declaration" color is used for.

    public class StringToTitleConverter : IValueConverter
    {
        public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, string language)
        {
            string snap = "☰ ";
            if (parameter.ToString() == "Snapped") return string.Concat(snap, value.ToString().Trim(' '));
            return value.ToString().Trim(' ');
        }

        public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, string language)
        {
            return null;

Only one person used something other than black on white or white on black, and it doesn't show up in any of the examples.
Also... I was almost finished with the Xcode black theme only to realize that everyone is down voting black themes.

I like Obsidian.

2:22 AM
@Hosch250, decent. no way I won't be satisfied with this :P

@Phrancis Can you tell me why the line stripes didn't show up?

@nhgrif Put this CSS class in your file:
.prettify {
  border-width: 0px;
  background-color: transparent;
}
@Phrancis Can you please give me a screenshot of this?
Tried something to make the line numbers show up.

A: Post Feedback link is broken

Nick CraverThe way this is architected absolutely does not scale. It's also not something we want to put resources into fixing given opportunity cost and what it would take to refactor. We will be removing the link in the next build and removing the page and code later in the week. I'm sorry that answer ...

Your answer sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ....... have an upvote. — Kermit Dec 6 '13 at 15:15

A: Code Prettify - Choose your favorite or make your own!

nhgrifXcode Default (and I'm open to recommendations for tweaks to the last two... Lisp brackets and the mark-up stuff...)

I'm not sure Google's prettify works that great for Objective-C or Swift.
In the Objective-C example, @implementation and @end should be pink, as they're keywords...
and func should be pink in the Swift example.

Yeah the SE implementation makes better "decisions" than this default one, although you can try adding in your pre, for instance...

3:20 AM
In fact, the Swift prettify isn't really great at all... but anyway...

<pre class="prettyprint linenums lang-objc">
and lang-swift respectively

I did that.

Oh.

Yeah. It's not that great.

Well either way, I like it pretty well so +1

3:22 AM
Java and C# look pretty much as expected.
And those are probably the most popular here.
But Phrancis, the SQL prettify is bad too

Just imagine that implemented into SE, it would pick up with the same "decision skill" as you'd expect on SO

Notice how none of the SQL keywords are picked up at all?
That's the same problem I see with the ObjC/Swift examples I tacked on at the end.

Yeah. If you compare to SE SQL, it picks up the keywords just fine
So I feel confident that the color reference is the most important, examples are mostly for show
In NetBeans if you do "Clean & Build Project" does it actually change the code, or is it mostly just garbage collecting and such?
