Which has yet to be declined or completed.. I mention code review in it, actually

I saw that one, 35+ on MSE
It is a good question, and it has had my +1 for a while

Just received mine recently.

I'm actually not primarily a programmer, in interest. I invent products, design them, document, etc. Nothing released yet though. I began learning Web Development last year to achieve a thing or two. A long way to go from here, Code Review should help me improve my dev skills.

@jt0dd Keep reviewing other people's code. That's how I became the C programmer I am today.

I started developing a web app for an insurance company recently and had to completely redesign the infrastructure. Didn't know anything about decoupling

4:05 AM
@syb0rg I agree, reviewing seems to be more useful than asking!

It really is. I've learned lots just today, reviewing code.
3

@rolfl Just stumbled across that.

Hmmm... will edit, and lock
done

Is that question valid?

4:08 AM
@jt0dd No, it has to include the code in the question itself, not link to it.
Tag clean-up completed.

yup, no more

@jt0dd Is this one of your first times in this chat? I haven't seen you around here before (not that I'm the most regular regular...)

@syb0rg yes

@syb0rg done

@jt0dd Well welcome! You'll find that the people in here are some of the best in the world (no joke)!

@rolfl Thanks

@rolfl Goodnight!

Q: What happens when you smoke the manual?

Mat's Mug Context: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2012/10/editorial-fim-pony-programming-language.html In a recent conversation in The 2nd Monitor, I was given the opportunity to click on a link that took me to a place filled with unicorns and rainbows: The FiM++ parser's syntax / documentation I'm...

now

@Mat'sMug My head hurts
What are we going to do with you?

4:20 AM
am I abusing meta?

probably :-( .... but, is it OK, probably .... ;-)
I am off duty, Jamal can deal with you ;-)

lol good night

> +1 when you answer a PCG question in FiM++

@rolfl @Jamal @200_success I'm deleting it before it does any damage... I shouldn't be doing this

@Mat'sMug Already deleted?

4:24 AM
or is it a good idea?

@Mat'sMug - meta has different rules.

so it's fine then?

IDK

it's meta ..code. ..review..

@Mat'sMug Shame you can't get that working, an actual review question would have been great!

4:25 AM
It does not particularly interest me... but that's not the point/

That was one helluva flood. But the air around here is even fresher. :-)
2

@AlexL maybe it works, I don't know!
can mods undelete a meta post deleted by its owner?

yup

Mods can literally do anything.

@Mat'sMug Maybe there's a proficient fim developer on SO

4:26 AM
Nice shirt, Mat's

...

Well, I am looking through your monitor .... and, eeeuuwww.... stop doing that!

I'll let a mod undelete it then ;)

@Jamal ? is Meta a place for games?

@rolfl, I can have SE burninate , after I take another look at the questions. It looks like some deletions are in order.

4:28 AM
It is a good place to organize games

I find it raises awareness

Upcoming question is off-topic.

it does raise awareness.

Closed

which, in general is a good thing, but, it is not on topic.....
but, topic is loosely defined on meta

4:29 AM
I would love to be able to syntax-check that code
is @Donald.McLean around?

Q: check if it follows php coding standards

user3787192I have been asked by someone to clean this badly written php code to something that follows the good coding standards. From this <?php function calc_p() { list($arg1, $arg2, $arg3) = func_get_args(); switch ($arg1) { case 'ebook': $bp = 5; break; case 'audio_book': $bp...

Meta is not a free-for-all.

@Donald.McLean have you seen this? github.com/KarolS/fimpp/tree/…

I've found an older request still in progress:

Q: Tag synonyms ([error-handling], [exception-handling], [exception])

200_successThere is a cluster of tags of a similar nature. How should we synonymize them? error-handling (34 questions) exception-handling (90 questions) exception (36 questions) Interestingly, exception-handling is the least general term, but is the most popular.

4:31 AM
You might be able to dump that on Stack Overflow or PCG.

Once you get it working, then you may ask again on Code Review. =)

@Mat'sMug What is it?

it's an interpreter for a funny language

I just realized this is one vote away from a silver: codereview.stackexchange.com/a/40418/27623

4:33 AM
@200_success I agree

@Mat'sMug I think "funny" under estimates it

@syb0rg It's in my one-vote-short, but it already has my +1

@rolfl Someone else sniped it, thanks @Santa!
2

@Donald.McLean I would love to know if my works, what do I need to get if I only have a vanilla eclipse?
the interpreter is in

A whiskey?

4:35 AM
or some sleep. I should go to bed.

@Mat'sMug Does FiM stand for Friendship is Magic?

indeed :)

@Donald - I recommend walking away, slowly.

I am not a Brony.

lol

4:36 AM
@syb0rg thanks for that article

@Donald.McLean I truly is a bit weird to see all salutations start with "Fellow Bronies!"

@Mat's - the only upside I can see is a future Brony Zombie!

@jt0dd Sure thing, just a little something to give you a sharper edge against the other reviewers.

@Mat'sMug Well, you could download the free community edition of IDEA, and the Scala plugin.

@syb0rg I disagree....
That question was not off topic.... really

4:40 AM
@rolfl The code isn't his own though.

He was the code maintainer.
He had the pre-version, then his own version, and was asking for review of his version
I will edit, and un-delete.

@Donald.McLean noted, thanks.
TTGTB

@Mat'sMug Night

@rolfl I'll toss him an upvote for his troubles then.
@rolfl Also, you might want to clean up the comments.

4:45 AM
I'd be interested in answering that, hopefully he undeletes it

I could undelete it, but I don't see any cause to.... so, you will have to be hopeful

@rolfl Since you weren't the one who deleted it, there's a chance he won't be notified of the comment. I believe it works when a mod comments on a post shortly after deleting it.

I also edited it....

@rolfl I don't think he's going to come back to it, I doubt he knows the SE system that well.

He does not have rep enough to chat, either.

4:49 AM
How many undelete votes does a question need?

It should say so on the tooltip.

6 I believe

It says one more

@Jamal Oops, it said I had 5 votes left, not five until undelete. My bad

@Mat'sMug We could use your vote here: codereview.stackexchange.com/q/57643/27623

5:15 AM
@syb0rg I think it's going to be more difficult to animate that because everything has its position translated
like instead of things using the coordinates where they are, they use some other coordinates and are translated into position

@DaggNabbit Was that from the optimization?

no, i think inkscape does that when you move stuff around
but there's a way to avoid it i think

@DaggNabbit How's that?

if you drop the svg in jsfiddle and start removing the parts like transform="translate(-22,33)" you'll see what i mean
i don't remember exactly but i think it only does this when you move groups?
it might not matter except some things also have matrix transformations

Good morning, y'all!
Oh, we have the Golden Gate bridge here. Nice.

5:24 AM
@kleinfreund Morning? I'm about to go to bed

And turntables and monkey.
Good night, @syb0rg. Sweet dreams. :~)
I'm heading to my internship now. Later!

@kleinfreund Bye!

hey @kleinfreund

@kleinfreund Haha hellloooo

@DaggNabbit This is what it looks like without the translations: jsfiddle.net/g2K3N

5:26 AM
@syb0rg that's what i mean... that's where you originally drew stuff and then you moved it...

@DaggNabbit Soo, I can't fix it?

and when you moved it, inkscape created a translation instead of actually changing the coordinates
it would be tough
i think i'd also use <circle> instead of <path> for those circles if you care about it being stripped down
i assume they started off as circles and then got converted to paths?

"ok thanks..i understood that it is RIM's issue not mine." - you 17 hours ago. If you understand that the issue is with the stuff you use, and that you can't do much about it, why come and ask here? Your question seems perfectly suited on stackoverflow for me. In fact I think the comments made by User: "Mister Smith" are enough of an answer. OTOH, if you reformulate your question here to ask for a review of your code, that would be a horse of different color. We review code, not debug it. — Vogel612 8 secs ago

there's two Listtypes in Java...
one is java.util.List<T>..
that is the thing you use. It's an interface
then there's java.awt.List which is a class, that always is the standard import and that is always wrong.

Why was java.awt.List even created?

no clue, and definitely not gonna google it.

It's exactly a ListView<String>

This is why JavaFX did not become popular before Java 8:
elapsedTimeColumn.setCellFactory(new Callback<TableColumn<DocumentEntry, Integer>, TableCell<DocumentEntry, Integer>>() {
    @Override
    public TableCell<DocumentEntry, Integer> call(TableColumn<DocumentEntry, Integer> param) {
        return new TableCell<DocumentEntry, Integer>() {
            @Override
            public void updateItem(final Integer item, final boolean empty) {
                if (item != null) {
                    setText(format(item));
                }
            }
        };
Now going to lambdafy it

Greetings User @Donald.McLean

elapsedTimeColumn.setCellFactory(column -> new TableCell<DocumentEntry, Integer>() {
    @Override
    public void updateItem(final Integer item, final boolean empty) {

lol. Oh. Ok. Now I get it.

@ckuhn203 that's kinda beside the point. additionally his answer was "I imported one of them and the error stays the same"
especially that comes as a sidenote "eurgh I was too lazy to actually run trough the second import you proposed"

@Vogel612 s/sorry if that sounds blunt. Can you read?//. IMO "I told you to not import java.awt.List, but instead java.util.List. Importing the util List should fix your issue." says it all.

@ckuhn203: Wow he has 3 answers with the exact same text and votes ^^

@SimonAndréForsberg It was an upvote from me for suggesting the array list, which I think is better than the hashmap, but that was before all this happened.

@ckuhn203 Third actually. There are two such answers here: codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/36117/…

Ohhhhh. They're different questions!

@ckuhn203 I disagree that ArrayList is better then map. It's so easy to get the indexes wrong (which they did)

Dv'd them all.

I'm delete-voting them all. I hope a mod wakes up soon though.

@SimonAndréForsberg To be fair, hashmap is much cleaner to use than C#'s dictionary, so I can see that.

Three identical bad answers is just unacceptable.

Four. Jamal deleted one already. codereview.stackexchange.com/a/57644/41243

@ckuhn203 Wtf!? I already counted that. I missed this one though:

A: Detect if linkedlist contains a loop

AshishFind out loop or cycle in linked list in java

@Nobody Full HD. But my laptop has 1366 × 768 pixels only, so that's an upgrade.^^

I smell an answer ban.

@kleinfreund: I actually meant the physical screen size. Is it 20"?

if that users puts another answer like that, I'll definitely flag for spam...
this looks an awful lot like autogenerated / copy-pasta

I would like to flag this one for spam, but I already flagged it for something else:
That answer is as far as I can tell completely irrelevant to the question.

I didn't even look at the link. Just flagged as NAA.

I used the new "Flag as part of an evil plot to control the world." feature.

@Donald.McLean Ohhhhhhhh. When did we get that flag?

@Donald.McLean: May I ask: How did you become a mod on astronomy with only ~650 rep?

@Nobody I was appointed mod when the site went to public beta.

@Donald.McLean: So you were one of the initiators on Area51?

@Nobody I committed before the private beta started. I think I was the 200th commit in fact.
For the most part, I probably got the appointment because I have a history of being friendly, helpful, and non-confrontational, plus my job is astronomy related.

an astronomy related job sounds interesting

@Yuushi stsci.edu <- Where I work

@Donald.McLean cool :)

Way cool.

@Yuushi Yes. It's a great place to work too. Last year we made the list as one of the 25 best places to work in Baltimore.

@Donald.McLean I was going to say that I think your total SE rep had something to do with it as well, but now that I look at your SE rep... I am shocked! You only have one gold badge on all sites? I guess reputation and badges are not everything, huh?

@SimonAndréForsberg Well, it's not like I go out of my way to earn badges. Or rep.

Also, I should have had Fanatic on this site too, but something got messed up.
