Flakey internet doesn't help web-development

Flaky internet doesn't help any kind of development :(

@DanLyons Very true, then you have to resort to a handful of man pages...

When I lose connectivity, I get my documentation by disassembling binaries, the way God intended.
Admittedly, that's a little less impressive in a managed language.

11:32 PM
There was no talking them into using the Access Runtime @Mat'sMug?

The code will end up rewritten in PHP.. eventually (when I learn enough to do it!)

Fair enough. That would be a better option yet. I literally groaned when I read that title. I somehow just knew it was your post. Lol
I really don't get why people get so hooked on Excel.

Which version of the title? ;)
It's a big step up alrwady, I've moved the data into an actual database (..if the MySQL backend can be called that)!
..no FK support still puzzles me

no FK support where?

the MySQL instance I'm stuck with

11:47 PM
hmm

that's odd, because MySQL has foreign keys, though it looks like there's a system variable to disable them

The latest one @Mat'sMug
Why would that even be an option!?

I get a message about the db engine not supporting them. AFAICT the instance is a basic setup with all default configs
@ckuhn203 nope

I see, it depends on the storage engine used
FKs only work with InnoDB
:(

11:52 PM
Ahhhh

hmm.. I think it's InnoDB

lol there's a CSV storage engine

So what I get is "normal" indexes instead of FK's
Better than a kick in the nuts I guess

Eh, yeah. There are ways to enforce the restraint anyway, but they're not pretty.
Good god triggers can be evil.

Hence, my client code performs the check (in the delete code)
And no triggers, please
:)

11:56 PM
@DaggNabbit I like the Roboto Slab, good suggestion! syb0rg.github.io/tritium.io

Triggers are a great way to shoot yourself in the foot

@syb0rg the svg is back on top of stuff... try your mobile, the electron isn't fast enough :(

Yeah they are. I couldn't see the harm in using them to fake a foreign key though.

@Mat'sMug Yeah, I'm not sure how to change that this time :(

@ckuhn203 I'd rather not :/
