A: Winter Bash 2014 Secret Hats

AirThomas It looks like my gut instinct about the Waffles hat may have been correct: My first reaction to the "waffles" hat is that it might be related to reversing a vote; "waffling" can mean going back and forth on a decision. I tested this guess by finding a question in need of some editing ...

I'd try this, but I'm already out of votes.

@Jamal an instructor that doesn't want you to learn? Now that's a new one.

@SimonAndréForsberg It's actually quite common, teachers who reuse the same exam every year do such things

6:05 PM
@Malachi Beat me to it!
I need a Tardis.

@Mat'sMug I'm also trying to get that one.

LOL
I only have like 5 answer votes left. or something

@Malachi I'll get a shiny new hat if you upvote this one: codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/69908/…

done
@Jamal give me something to down vote, and then I will let you edit it
lol

@Malachi down vote this and I'll get another hat: codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/52315/… (that's pretty much an "here's what I would do" answer)

6:09 PM
@SimonAndréForsberg if it was edited after I up voted it will give me a hat too!
@SimonAndréForsberg nope
if you edit it I will change my vote....lol
just for the hat

@Mat'sMug I already voted on that
1 vote left

Anyone but @Malachi have votes left? lol

@Mat'sMug This is Code Review, you may even pimp for rep
5

@SimonAndréForsberg I just don't want to risk anything. I can always write my own code and attempt to unit-test that.

6:12 PM
@RubberDuck I do!

I need something to down vote before an edit so I can upvote after the edit

@Malachi Easy: look for something with a horrible title and no context. :-)

yoohoo

@Malachi what hat do you need to do that for?

@Malachi I'm sure @CaptainObvious will have something soon... if you get to it before @Jamal does ;-)

How the h*** do you get that Chameleon hat?

I see Malachi is back to his old "self"

@Mat'sMug RMFSA

spoiler alert
@Jamal that's precisely the kind of stuff why I haven't fired all my votes yet for the day

Hey guys, check this out. Silent Majority user ran out of votes today.

6:17 PM
@janos but you get a hat for running out of ammo

@SimonAndréForsberg change anything on your profile

not so silent if he ran out of votes :)

@Mat'sMug there's plenty of time to run out of ammo ;)

I have used my last vote!

BTW put up a bounty and get a hat

6:18 PM
^^^ about that
the date seems to be wrong

well I put up a bounty and got a hat

I know. I've seen people with it

start a bounty between December 16 and December 24
today is 15th, helloooo

there is a leeway on the dates

6:20 PM
I can wait till tomorrow
what's the rush

Q: Why didn't (or did) I or some other user get a hat although the requirements were (or weren't) fulfilled?

balphaDuring Winter Bash, users can earn hats. But sometimes it seems that a hat was awarded even though its requirements weren't (yet) met, or vice versa. What could the reason for this be?

It's Dec 16th in a little over five and a half hours, anyways.

it will be funny if I don't cap today because all of you have already spent all your votes

@RPiAwesomeness Computers don't derp, programmers do. — Simon André Forsberg 1 min ago
@janos same here... I'm at +195 now

you're in luck, I'm still saving up votes, just in case
an accept would be good though, for safety net in case of last minute downvotes
might be too late for that today

6:24 PM
@janos yeah, I'm glad I already got one accept, making it a bit easier

If the new Guess My Number gets hot, I may earn the hat from 7+ upvotes.

@RubberDuck what's Tardis?

+205 ! First time I repcap since October 19.

@janos I've tried your (removed) suggestion for Chameleon. Still no luck..

we'll get that naturally over the next 1-3 weeks
whooosh

I've just remembered: I can earn Treasure Hunter! After 37 more First Post reviews on SO, I'll earn Steward.

@janos might even be the case..

it can happen

@Jamal That might just happen before winterbash is over.

6:27 PM
I've done my 20 reviews today, so I just have less than two days worth of reviews to do.

I think the 7+ answer has to have been posted after winterbash started.

Okay. I've gotta go get some work done now. I'll be back when people have ammo again.
2

@Phrancis heck, I can even spend all my votes on that site :)

@Jamal me neither, apparently. And what's even more strange, @Malachi hasn't got it!!

@RubberDuck I have ammo, can I help?

@Malachi has the waffles though

6:32 PM
LOL. No @janos. Nothing in particular.

Nothing? At all?
