@rolfl what did @200 do?

he bumped Svick!

I am slacking on everything on the users pages.....

Actually, he's too busy doing mod-things to answer ;-0

A: Redundant DataContext ? - LINQ to SQL

retailcoderI can't make a thorough review right now, but here's a quick fix that should help you structure things up. What you have is probably working, but you're mixing-up presentation with data concerns. I don't think these methods should be returning void. Picture this: protected IEnumerable<SalesInfo>...

uh, that was supposed to be ":)"
@SimonAndréForsberg 79 answers, 6 questions. I have 93 answers, 24 questions. You're still way ahead, just keep answering and I won't stand a chance!

@retailcoder Problem is that these days I have to work also! Which means that there's less time for answering. Especially since I'm extremely tired after work.

@anyone quick XPath question: "/ElementName[not(@attribute)]", does that assume @attribute is a Boolean and selects ElementName nodes where that attribute is false?

@retailcoder - the @attribute will resolve to a (Xpath) String, and XPath Strings in a boolean context are: a string is true if and only if its length is non-zero thus, the not(@attribute) will resolve to true if the attribute is not specified, or empty.

Night folks :)

@SimonAndréForsberg good night! (being stupid and knowing it makes you less stupid than he who is stupid and doesn't know it)
@rolfl thanks! I'm translating these relics into Linq-to-XML code, but I don't want to change the semantics, what I had in mind would have done that.

@rolfl just to be sure, do you mind validating? I know C#/Linq isn't your cup of tea, but I'm sure it's easier to read than XPath:

XPath = "Model/dsc:Model/dsc:Contour/descendant::dsc:Hole[@id='" + SlabHoleID + "']/dsc:Opening[not(@fixSash)]";
var nodes = _context.Item.Xml.Select(GetDescXPathExpression(XPath, _context.Item.Xml.NameTable));

vs

var nodes = xNode.Descendants(dsc + "Contour")
.Descendants(dsc + "Hole")
.Where(x => x.GetAttributeValue("id") == SlabHoleID)
.Descendants(dsc + "Opening")

@retailcoder - seen my profile recently?
I have written XPath parsers and engines ;-)

I hate XPath. With a passion.

Damn, @tomdemuyt the rabbit is on a roll!

@retailcoder - they look largely equivalent apart from the anchoring to the root document... apparently the XPath expects <Model><dsc:Model>... whereas your expression will apparently find <Crap><morecrap><dsc:Model>... (assuming xNode does what it says at face-value).

@Corbin: I have three days so far without a rep gain, and it could even be more. I'm pretty much relying on "easy" C++ questions. But at least I still have a decent tag score.

yeah xNode is leaving out the <Model> part

ratchet freakif you only need to select once then there is no need to sort at all; filtering can happen in O(n) while the sort needs O(n log n) if you need to select multiple times then put them in a n x n grid structure, where each grid is a list of points that lie within it

@200_success Its a gray area question between Code Review and Programmers.SE.
