From what I can remember:
Regular .NET = The original APIs, only supported on windows.
.NET Core = Cross-platform, doesn't implement all the original APIs though. Also, can only work with fellow .NET Core apps/libs.
.NET Standard = Cross-platform, "works" with the other flavours of .NET (which makes it pretty bloated atm due to dependencies).
