If I meet someone and I suspect they might be an anime fan, I'll start dropping all these code words into our conversation; first I'll mention that I studied a little Japanese, then I'll slip in a Pokemon or Ghibli reference, then I'll casually mention that I rather like anime, and if things go well, pretty soon we're trading "Pantsu ga mieru!" and "Ecchi na no wa ikenai to omoimasu!" It's a weird kind of otaku shibboleth.

Just going up and yelling "Nico nico nii!" is the high-risk shortcut version. Either you'll make a new friend, or there are two men in blue uniforms waiting around the corner for you.

you can test his character by just seeing how he reacts to one issue because you dont know if he'll react similarly to future issues

I'm curious to ask the current mods how much extra work it actually is. I already spend an unhealthy amount of time on the site so I might not have to change much.

if i threaten to burn down my office because we use TFS instead of GIT ill get fired and that's just one issue...why cant we treat him the same way?

@Frosteeze come on man this ID stuff is pretty much a life-threatening feature for a site like this, and somebody with experience and who knows how internet communities evolve with it would probably immediately know it's not a good idea. I can't think of any other features like that. If you can, we can ask senshin what he thinks about it. I wouldn't expect him to be as brutal about it though.

I do think ids were a special case. I also supported getting rid of them and there were times it felt like a huge uphill battle, so people could get pretty abrasive and heated about it.
