I found Tim Goudette’s house, where the party occurred on July 1, 1982, the one Kavanaugh, Judge and Smythe attended. In this story about how FBI background investigation will go down: http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-kavanaugh-ford-fbi-clues-20180928-story.html

BREAKING: @LindseyGrahamSC is now under investigation @TheDemCoalition for campaign finance violations and his links to Russian-tied interests. We found sketchy things in his filings and also uncovered Russian ties. @Funder will be delivering a report on our findings this weekend

@Ash i am skeptical of this
are they announcing that they are doing the investigation?

user15026
I was just typing up a longer version of "I don't know how much to trust this" but yeah, same

user15026
like it feels weird to me

this isn't a watchdog group, it is specifically some democrat leaning thing
also #TheRestance everywhere
Just updated my overview of where Kavanaugh's testimony was misleading or incorrect. Several readers, contemporaries of the judge, emailed to say how they used "boof" in high school. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/09/28/heres-where-kavanaughs-sworn-testimony-was-misleading-or-wrong/
> "False in one thing, false in everything,” Blumenthal replied. “Meaning in jury instructions that we — some of us as prosecutors have heard many times, is — told the jury that they can disbelieve a witness if they find them to be false in one thing.”
that seems like a recipe to ignore everything and everyone

Reddit is quarantining many of its most vile subreddits, in what one moderator says amounts to a "death sentence." https://www.thedailybeast.com/reddit-quarantines-white-nationalist-subreddits

@GodEmperorDune They still didn't quarantine t_d, though
And quarantining still isn't depriving them of a place to meet

@SaintWacko of course not, it makes too much revenue for that and/or they are scared of the trump admin

@GodEmperorDune Exactly

@SaintWacko if you can only get to it by signing up with a working email, that friction will cause people to drop
not everyone, but some
meanwhile i am enjoying the memes at /r/FullCommunism and haven't run into anything terrible yet, so thank you streisand effect
scratch that, it's requiring me to re-confirm the quarantine on clicking every new page and has broken infinite scroll

@GodEmperorDune Or they're just on-board with them.

3:56 AM
@Yuuki i really hope not but yes, this is an option as well
An off-duty Border Patrol agent was reportedly ordered to pay $220,000 in restitution on Friday after he accidentally started a 47,000-acre wildfire at he and his wife’s gender reveal party https://thebea.st/2OpZZH6
i mean i have referred to gender reveal parties as a garbage fire before, but never a forest fire

user15026
4:36 AM
@GodEmperorDune how the fuck

@Ash the planned reveal involved shooting a canister of explosives with colored powder

user15026
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa people no people why

yeppppppppppppppppppp
the main site for the substance calls it a "gender reveal boom box"

user15026
And weirdly they also sell this book: tannerite.com/product/butterflies-rattlesnakes

ok from a product video, it doesn't seem like that thing could start a fire... i guess maybe the contents are hot?
i read "explosive" and assume giant fireball

user15026
4:49 AM
It's still an explosive, just a reasonably controlled one

user15026
Theoretically, anyhow

user15026
So like you don't want to be using any sort of binary reactive explosive when shit's dry

user15026
because....well, its an explosive

user15026
like they tout it as safe because you gotta mix it, it's not flammable, it's impact resistant (to a point)

user15026
but it's still, at the core, a nicely transportable explosive you can shoot at

user15026
4:51 AM
(reading up on it reminds me I do know some about this stuff from gun people I know, I just didn't know the name)

user15026
also, tannerite gets used like the word kleenex, people use it to refer to offbrands too, which doesn't help

user15026
the tannerite people claim their stuff is safe, but I mean blow up anything in a dry enough environment with enough stuff that goes boom....

user15026
(also gender reveal parties are HELLA WEIRD)

user15026
@GodEmperorDune facepalm

user15026
(sorry for all the words, I went into research mode, apologies)

4:54 AM
no need to apologize, this is good info

The root of problems in society can be seen in the management of governments.

@Unionhawk brutal self own

He's right though

it's so vague as to be useless though

@Ash cyborg research mode engaged?

@Ash My favorite one is the one where they fail to pop the balloon, it slips out of their hands, and then floats off into the sky.

Most striking while we watched the hearing was the fact both of them told me they’re resigned to being assaulted someday. Literally resigned. They’re expecting it to happen. It’s happened to friends. The allegations against Kavanaugh felt familiar, they said. 2/

And for an explainer on what happened with flake and the kavanaugh hearings yesterday:
What a wild day: Friday morning, the Senate Judiciary Committee was set to send Kavanaugh's nomination to a full Senate vote, a day after Blasey Ford testified. Now things have been delayed for a week so the FBI can investigate. Here's how we got here. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/davidmack/jeff-flake-senate-brett-kavanaugh-vote-fbi?bftwnews&utm_term=4ldqpgc#4ldqpgc

@Wipqozn fuuuuuuuuuck

@Ash It's just horrifyingly chilling and accurate.
I suspect this will be really trending in a week when absolutely nothing changes

wow: Michigan's referendum on a voting-rights package is ahead by a HUGE margin in new EPIC-MRA poll: 70% to 24%! @Wipqozn I feel like a content warning should’ve been provided for this.
Trigger warning, rather.

@Yuuki Yeah fair, although this entire case is just one trigger, so I didn't really think of it
But I've updated the post

2 hours later…
8:23 PM
@Wipqozn generally when you provide a trigger warning you mention what the trigger warning is for (in this case for kavanaugh trial or sexual assault), as different things trigger different folks
meanwhile in kavanaugh:
JUST IN: Attorney for Deborah Ramirez, woman who accused Judge Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct: "We can confirm the FBI has reached out to interview Ms. Ramirez and she has agreed to cooperate with their investigation."

@GodEmperorDune which one was Ramirez?

@MadScientist the college party where she got drunk and someone put a dick in her face and she slapped it away
then someone else ran down the hall yelling "lol brett kavanaugh just put his dick in debbie's face" or something to that effect

hmm, so not the Avenatti one.

correct, avanatti's client is Swetnick, who was allegedly gang raped and said kavanaugh and judge would drug women at parties in preparation for gang rapes, even if they didn't actually do the rape part of it

he could probably survive Ramirez' accusation, he can't survive the Avenatti one if there is any evidence

8:29 PM
kavanaugh said he never participated in a thing where multiple men simultaneously raped someone, but Swetnick said it was a serial thing, so multiple men raped someone one by one at the same event

I'm just a bit wary about shenanigans with the scope of the FBI investigation

yeah, same

Especially as it's unlikely they will turn up any hard evidence, after this amount of time. So it'll be at best a collection of weak evidence

sworn testimony is sworn testimony though
people don't usually lie to the FBI because the FBI will jail you
as george papadopoulos is finding out the hard way

they won't get Judge, because he'll plead the 5th first

8:40 PM
@MadScientist he can't plead the 5th, statute of limitations is over so he can't be prosecuted for it so there is no way he could incriminate himself
he could refuse to cooperate entirely instead though

@GodEmperorDune I thought that was a state without statute of limitation in this case?

@MadScientist iirc the ford incident statue of limitations was only 1 year at the time so it's long gone, he wasn't involved with the ramirez incident in college, no idea about the Swetnick
but if the Swetnick incident is also sexual assault or accessory to sexual assault, i imagine it would have the same 1 year statute of limitations back then

I thought Ford had no statute of limitation, at least I read something like that

@MadScientist here is an explainer on it
> The most serious allegation that authorities could pursue, given the sworn testimony provided by Ford, would be attempted rape. But that was considered a misdemeanor in Maryland in 1982, and that would be the relevant legal standard.
As a misdemeanor, the offense carried a one-year statute of limitations, meaning charges would have had to be filed within a year of an incident, according to John McCarthy, Montgomery County’s longtime chief prosecutor. Lisae C. Jordan, the executive director and counsel for the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault, and other longtime Maryland lawyers i

8:54 PM
@GodEmperorDune I think there's nothing preventing him from pleading the 5th even if he couldn't be in legal trouble specifically for the events at the time they occurred now

@TimStone hmmm i've heard that one theory why trump doesn't pardon some of his buddies is that it removes 5th amendment protections

Yeah, I think there's some nuance by which that's different?
Related to the acceptance of the pardon and the way pardons work and the like, which is different from the statute of limitations running out

yeah i am not a lawyer so

9:13 PM
This dude catches Giancarlo Stanton’s home run, then chucks it back at him and hits him with a one-hopper near second base all the way from the Green Monster. Incredible. https://t.co/RXBojKDHnh
Okay tbh kind of feel like we need to amend the rules to say if that happens you're out, sorry
@elonmusk and SEC reach settlement on fraud charges filed Thursday. Settlement will keep Musk CEO but force him to resign within 45 days as Chairman for 3 years, pay $20m fine and have Tesla appoint 2 new ind. directors and also pay $20m fine- sources.
Wait isn't this basically just the original deal but now he's also looked foolish?
JUST IN: The ACLU, in a board vote, opposes Kavanaugh’s #SCOTUS confirmation. It took no position on Gorsuch, per the group’s policy. This is only the fourth time in the organization’s history it has opposed a Supreme Court nominee. From the resolution passed today:

@TimStone i think now its 3 years instead of 2 years
and wait both he personally and the company each have a $20m fine?

Yeah, I'm unclear on that point

9:34 PM
@TimStone wapo says its just a $20m fine for tesla the company

it's 20 for both
> Musk and Tesla will each pay a separate $20 million penalty. The $40 million in penalties will be distributed to harmed investors under a court-approved process.

i stand corrected

I really hope the arbitrary restrictions on the FBI probe backfire entirely. It's just insane that they try to micromanage it in this blatant and obvious way

Bill Maher praises Steven Bannon for appearing on his show: "It says volumes why Republicans are in power" http://hill.cm/DtCWEVE
:hyperthink:
@TimStone gotta appreciate the deep cover comrade Grimes taking him down 20m and his dignity by getting him into weed jokes

@Unionhawk and i never thought i could despise maher more
very on brand for him, so long as bannon sticks to islamophobic talking points

10:32 PM
@TimStone the poster's dream, fined $20m and fired for posting

Track Palin was arrested on domestic violence charges again? jfc :/

10:59 PM
@TimStone is that his legal name?

Yeah, Track, Trig, Bristol, Willow, and Piper Palin
Kavanaugh lied under oath about having no connections to Yale. In fact, he was a legacy: His grandfather, Everett Edward Kavanaugh, also went to Yale for undergrad, as this yearbook shows. https://interc.pt/2Nbbj5d
🤔

@TimStone yeah that testimony was perjury city
