I do the night ventilation thing: I have my bedroom window wide open. I can't open more windows, though I do have two ventilation rosters in the back/living room that are open at night.
But yesterday, at 10PM it was still like 20.something degrees outside here, so I didn't get the living room to go much below 21 as the heat from the front came in as well (had a fan blowing towards the outside, but it didn't seem to do much)
I have a fan blowing inside on the window sill, that's a bit more effective (as hot air is higher up in your room, so that gets driven out this way)... but it still requires a bit of a temperature difference yeah
@MiG Yeah. To be honest I tried that too, but only the living room window has a window sill. And the wind was coming mostly in through the front (bedroom) window, so more hot air would get in than cool air, it seemed. I don't know.
I will probably make a little shelf I can fit directly in front of the bedroom window someday, yesterday I stacked some boxes XD
Yeah, I can open windows on opposite sides of the house, and usually that works pretty well. Just that yesterday the heat from the stones meant that I could actually feel that warm air still radiating from it, and hanging in front of my window :(
If you have a good stormy autumn day though, I can get the temp down from >20 to <15 in no time XD
Also busy. Both work and private. Moved into the new place, and it still needs work here and there, and work is busy too. They're requiring me to go back to the office one day a week as well, which is pretty much a waste of time adding to the busy feeling even more.
Right now, I can't figure out how to cool this apartment down, and it's only like 25 outside for a day or three. It's probably going to be hell once we get weeks of 30 degree weather.
@Tinkeringbell i feel that, i'm required to work 2 a week at the office which adds way too much travel time and cost for my liking when compared with working at home :/ but atleast your new place is getting there :)
thank fuck mine's still merit based - there's the occasional physical meeting / event, but most of my meetings are with people abroad anyway, so it doesn't matter where I take the zoom call :)
although this week I wouldn't have minded full time office for a change, for... reasons
If I want to make some noise, work provided a suprisingly nice BT conference speaker .... and my co-workers are either "Oh its ok"or "TURN IT UP" or "Wait...you listen to death metal?"
@AlexRobinson I have a pretty big one, but it's a sony WX-morelettersnumbers-3. Those are pretty accepted in the office, they're at least black and looking sleek. And very, very noise cancelling, to the point where coworkers have to knock on them to get me to notice them if I'm gone good XD
Yeah, I need to change the cups on my at-home headset sometime soon too. I looked into just buying a new pair (the battery life on this one is going down) but a new pair would be more expensive than what I originally bought mine for at the moment! So I'll just replace the cups XD
