@Tinkeringbell Oh, we had 15 duplicate close :O I had no idea it would be that high! (also 50% of questions asked are closed x) )

@Ael I'm not sure, but I think a significant part of those 15 are related to situations like this, where people re-asked their question instead of editing it.

Ael
Surprisingly enough though, other sites do close more than use: Chemistry (54%), Network Engineering (65%), Stack Overflow em Português is not far with 49%, Hardware Recommendations (53%)
So, we are apparently the 4th site that close the most

Yeah, I was surprised because 50 percent seemed really low to me. At times, I was feeling like our close rates were in the 90 percents :D

Ael
Well, that's good news then :)

@Ael I'm hoping we can get down to 40 percent closed next year, and not because no one is casting close votes anymore :P
Hopefully the help center edits will do a bit. There's also this, I'm hoping to start drafting there after the help center and good question faq are done :D

Ael
8:39 AM
I hope this will help indeed :)
Will this only be available for when someone asks a question for the first time? Because IMO, it would also be helpful the 2 and 3rd time

@Ael I think only the 'welcome modal' is for new users and first questions (maybe second too, as long as they still have the 'new contributor' indicator and ask two questions in a short time?) ...
The rest I think is always there for people.

Ael
Oh, yeah, right (sorry, I did not re-read this post since I am suppose to work ^^)

No worries :) I am supposed to work too, but the daily standup is rather boring at times ;)
Our team has grown 'too big' and now there's people working on a totally different product too, and their 'news' is, like today, often very irrelevant :P

@Ael you're still WFH?

Ael
8:55 AM
@avazula Yeah. It seems that I have back pain so I can only work lying down. So working from the office is a big no for me and I will fight to be allowed to keep working from home. I would rather be fired than having to go back to working in the office

A J
I am WFO since yesterday. How many of you are still WFH?

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Ah yeah, it gets really boring when people talk about stuff you have no interest in. I have that every morning basically >< (I am one-person team but I do my daily with other people and most of the time I don't even understand what they are saying)

@AJ I'm still home, and it doesn't look like that'll be changing soon.

A J
Europe is still getting more cases per day?

Ael
Yep
Especially with the UK covid variation

A J
9:03 AM
ohh

Ael
(FYI, I didn't check, but given what I know, I would be really surprised to ear that "we" are doing better)

A J
It's still 15k per day here and there is around 1k-3k more people getting recovered,

Ael
From memory: UK is in full lockdown, Portugal is doing absolutely terribly, France have a curfew from 6pm to 6am, Netherland has a curfew too

(Netherlands is still debating a curfew... can't just do stuff here, you have to get everyone to agree with it. Hopefully there'll be a verdict tomorrow ;) )

@Ael I feel you. I've been having pain crises these last days, I'm currently working while lying down on the floor cause that's the least painful position for me to be in because of my legs

Ael
9:09 AM
@avazula :/ But why the floor though? Aren't you cold and/or uncomfortable? I personally am lying down in my bed where it's very cosy ^^

I'm near the heater and only a hard surface would soothe the pain ^^

Ael
Ah, that does make sense. Glad to hear you are not freezing ^^

Thank you haha

Ael
@avazula While you go see a doctor for your pain? I know you had those for a long time now, but I don't think it's normal (also, maybe you have fibromyalgia? )

I believe it's just a side effect of my general condition .. I'm always more or less in pain because of my high sensitivity to touch and the pain increases with tiredness... and it's been a while since I last got a decent night of sleep :p

Ael
9:20 AM
:/
I hope you will sleep well soon then

Thank you! I've been working out more now that my leg isn't paralyzed anymore, hope it'll help with sleep quality

Ael
Yeah, sport is supposed to make sleeping easier indeed :) Also, glad to hear your leg is doing better!

Just don't sport for a few hours before you go to sleep (can't remember if it was 2 or 3...) because that way your body will be flooded with hormones that prevent sleep, apparently ....
Fingers crossed things will be better soon :)

A J
9:43 AM
@avazula Take the day off and try to get a good sleep. Get well soon.

Ael
1:37 PM
I'm not in a working mood today :'(

1:47 PM
@Ael :/

@Ael Are you in a 'yell at people' mood then? I have some I could delegate XD

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Ahah, sorry but no x) I'm more in a "let's hang out on fb and talk about random stuff with strangers" mood :p

Hahaha that's a good procrastination too. Too bad though, now I'll have to do my own yelling.
At least I have coworkers to help with that too :)

Ael
Though I wouldn't mind yelling at my phone who keep crashing will I am writing stuff >< (and then I have to write it again and hope it won't crash this time)

2:32 PM
@Ael Oof :(
I have manager problems. This particular one keeps 'whatiffing' stuff. There's some pretty serious problems and troubleshooting, and he keeps interrupting stuff with random whatifs that only complicate the conversation and draw it in a totally different direction :/
After pointing that out twice and him just continuing, even other coworkers started saying 'are you even listening'
Honestly, I think I should try speaking Russian or Chinese at the guy and see if that's more effective/understood.

Ael
2:45 PM
:/

So, "I've tried reminding her how much she always hates the result," but you need a way to tell her that you too hate the results? And still want to remain friends? — Yosef Baskin 2 mins ago

People like that are annoying. But that's also why I like written communication better, if someone is not listening to what you said, you can copy-paste it and then they hopefully listen or just shut up

@Ael The whole idea was to get a few people together in a call to make some quicker decisions than what a long e-mail thread would allow XD
He is very chaotic though, and I indeed do not like working with him.

Ael
That sound understandable
(I personally like it way better when things are clear and not "chaotic" like you say)

3:04 PM
I can handle chaotic things, but people is another story ;)

Q: What to do when lifechanges force a breakup?

Renan Nobuyuki HirayamaI have been in a happy relationship for the past year (yes, even with the pandemic going on), but now I have been accepted in a PhD program in a far away country, which is expected to start around April. We have talked about this, and decided that a long-distance relationship wouldn't work for us...

Q: How to talk to wife about her addiction to phone?

localhostMy 5 year old son told me to tell mama that she is on phone all of tim. which she is either talking to relatives back in homeland or in other city. She has been very less patient with our 10 months old son as he is too much active and sleep less. Even we have been on collision course about her fr...
